If you like walks in the Pomorski Park Krajobrazowy and around 3city I recommend trying night walks in the winter when the ground is covered with snow. The sky and snow reflects light from the city and you can clearly see your road, dark path in the middle of the white forest, without any torch, you feel connected to the nature.

Gdańsk is called a romantic city.Gdansk was destroyed 80% after WWII. It is amazing how Poles rebuilt such a beautiful historic city from ruins. Today, we can only imagine how much better Gdansk could look if there had been no war. Gdansk was such a wonderful and rich city that unfortunately the Teutonic Knights (Germans) once took over this city by force, breaking the peace treaties and occupied Gdansk for some time. Even the Vatican ordered the Germans to give Gdansk back to Poland, but unfortunately the Teutonic Knights did not agree. The best period for this city was the period when Gdansk belonged to Poland because it was integrated with all of Poland and the main river Wisla, because through this river, various food and other products were transported from all over Poland, and this fueled the commercial power of this city. Ships with this goods sailed from the Port of Gdansk to England, Holland and other countries. The old architecture of the city is Flemish. Because this was once a trend in rich port cities and Gdansk was once one of the richest port cities in Europe. Gdansk was home to famous Europeans such as astronomer Johannes Hewelius and Gabriel Fareinchard, the inventor of the mercury thermometer. I recommend visiting the Artus Court from the main monuments, this white building near the Neptune fountain has beautiful interiors. The Germans, fleeing from the Russiian army, took many monuments from the Artus Court, but fortunately many were recovered. Gdansk also has a famous astronomical clock in St. Mary's Basilica. It was the largest clock of this type in the world.

You should stop by at Malbork, day trip from Gdansk (30min train ish) biggest brick castle in the world, plus nearby 2h train to Torun worth a day (Torun Miasto station), also once in Gdansk hop on to Sopot for a walk, Gdynia is lovely too (but here you would appreciate 1920-30 modernist architecture which is usually lost on Brits, I found)

Poland lies in Central Europe, not Eastern. People in countries like Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia or Hungary hate to be called „Eastern Europe” cause these countries belonged to the western culture for a 1000 years of their existence and share little in common with Eastern European countries;)

Nonsense. Poland was part of Eastern Europe for centuries. Eastern Europe - Belarus and Ukraine are the former lands of Poland. Polish rulers did not push towards Germany or Austria. They attacked Russia and Moldova. Stalin moved Poland westward, closer to the Czechia, which is really a Central European country.

@@Witek_z_Warszawy what does Belarus, Ukraine or any other territory possesion has to do with the fact that Poland belonged to the western culture by religion, alphabet, culture, democracy and presents totally different mindset than Easter European countries like Russia or Belarus. Pushing towards this or that direction has nothing to do with it.

@@JanuszPaleta-sw2kl According to you, only two countries belong to Eastern Europe? What about Ukraine, which is culturally closest to Belarus? What about Orthodox Romania and Greece, what about Serbia and Bulgaria (Orthodox Christianity, Cyrillic)? Democracy is a weak argument, fascism originated in Western Europe.
