Gordon Lightfoot released this song in 1970, Murphey was 25 and a virtual unknown at the time. Pretty sure Lightfoot wrote this song, but I could be wrong.

Whatever made you think MMM wrote it? Dear God. Gordon wrote it for his three children....but then all of his REAL fans know this. It's one of my favorite GL compositions. Such an amazing feel good song! MMM does not do it justice.He totally missed the mark.
