@davidbaker69414 жыл бұрын
For instructional purposes.
@davidwarner33262 жыл бұрын
In bootcamp, not all recruits are of the same rank, so calling them "private" would be incorrect. As they haven't learned the rank structure, they call the DI's "Sir" or "Ma'am," also because the Marines do not refer to sergeants and above as simply "Sergeant" like the Army does. After the Crucible in Week 10, a transition occurs where the recruits start calling the DI's by their rank, something that started after I went through boot camp. It was very strange for me to check in to Marine Combat Training and have a corporal be the first one to tell me to address him by his rank and not "Sir." Um, "Aye...Corporal."
@housethemisfitgraves73312 жыл бұрын
They're not marines, yet and haven't earn the right to call another marine as sir. It's to also get them use to call officers as sir. But after they graduated and go of into School of Infantry ( ITB OR MCT) which is honestly bootcamp 2.0 the combat instructors will call them privates, regardless of their ranks.
