Thank you so much ! I was seeing Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens and this video provided so much insight ! Also the matulasian argument is similar to so many arguments against the upcoming reforms and seems somewhat justified.But , in the end , I would like to say that this video was highly informative.😊... The mentality of the New Poor Law has very much returned in Britain since 1979, and the United States since 1980.

They could have saved state expense better by taking the aristocrats off state support and putting them in workhouses.

Could it be that the reform of the poor laws helped the British economy improve during and after the 1840s? Could it be that as the poor and middle class were required to work that their additional labor dropped unemployment enough to help raise wages over the next several decades?
