I grew up with a single mom on welfare and an alcoholic father. I was determined I wouldn’t live a life of poverty. I developed skills in art and design, I went to college to design for video games, I moved across the country to find a career in it, i started at small studios and eventually I worked on call of duty designing environments, took years upon years of hard work and study. After all that I found myself working 60-80 weeks on a salary that was just enough to rent a 1 bedroom apartment. I gave up, and now I teach concept art for games through a school like the one I went to 12 years ago. My wife and I rent a bedroom in my father in laws house. I’m 32, I have students paying to learn specialized skills from me, and I can’t even afford my own apartment. If the average rent hadn’t doubled in the last 5 years I’d be fine. I try to stay positive, but man this society and its economy is a joke and we poor are the punchline.

Take it or leave it but it's truth that no one ever told me and that i had to figure out for myself, so i'm doing you a solid and i don't even know you, but you need to succeed and you can. Always be honest and good in everything you think and do. Don't cheat people, put in a full, honest days work. Be kind to people and help someone when you can. That doesn't mean get taken advantage of, keep your eyes open and your head up and be aware of what's going on around you. When YOU need help ask for it. Don't waste your money on junk, if you can make it at home do that, rich people don't get their meals in a drive through. Be efficient and frugal where you can and save $100 every month at the minimum, that'll help cover your yearly taxes, save more for retirement, buy cd's, pay for everything in cash. Read books or watch videos online, take vocational classes, don't go in to debt for college. But definitely read the classics: The Old Man and the Sea, Fahrenheit 451, Animal Farm, To Kill A Mockingbird (seriously, and so many more). Don't worry about what other people think of you or what material things they have. Your first house can be an inexpensive fixer upper and if the upkeep is something you enjoy, you can turn it into an investment property and create some wealth. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Above all, stay positive, because you can make any dream you have, happen. Visualize the life you want, the world you want to live in...anyone can do this if they have a goal in mind. Good luck🌞

I've worked hard all my life, just to go to the end of the line because I gave my turn to someone more in need or more deserving because there aren't enough folks helping the ones in need. Your songs wake people up.

Best song he’s made thus far. It really calls out to millennials who did everything they were supposed to, only for the rug to be pulled out from under them, and told fuck you I have mine. Best part of this song in my opinion is the verse about everyone’s “dumb flag”…….. it’s true, it’s not pride flag vs Trump flags vs tread on me whatever…….. It’s everyone in this comment section vs the 1%

Some really clever lyricism here. Speaks to the people that can read between the lines while making those who can't think he's speaking their language.

Lol exactly. So many people in the comments are taking the lyrics literally, that's right wing brainrot for you.

It reminds me of my free market libertarian venture capitalist uncle ( a friend of Milton Friedman) and my other uncle, G F Will, telling me that the worthiest are finance types (not adjunct professors like me who work three jobs and can't afford health care or rent). But I realized he pulled all the strings, the extra help, and the extra time and even donated to get his mediocre student kids into Princeton, getting a fine humanist education. They got their connections there; later, he helped them get jobs. He told me my community college students should be in trade school (there is nothing wrong with that, but I told them to get a year or two of higher education: we need you for this democracy). What I learned is these free market types are hypocrites. Because it's NOT how hard you work (I mean, I worked hard as a night concierge), it's getting in the door that matters. I don't hold getting a leg up against anyone. I just vehemently abhor people who espouse a meritocracy that doesn't exist and that they don't believe in either.

I’m working two jobs a total of 75 hours a week and can still barely pay my bills because I have three kids. At a certain point it doesn’t matter how hard you work. When you have kids to feed the prices of everything, literally doubled in the past 10 years. It’s almost impossible to make it on one persons income. Me having two jobs and I can barely pay the bills now.
