Hi Wesley i really like your content, im a bin man so thought I'd chime in. The council dont actually employ us, they dont employ any bin men anymore. We all work for private companies such as Serco, Biffa etc etc. So in the case of the council "bringing more bin men over" to take crap like that away in theory sounds like a reasonable demand but in practice that becomes a whole other set of contract negotions becsuse the companies are only contracted to collect certain waste, and therefore aren't allowed to get the other stuff! Bonkers. This is the results of a broken system. The person negotiating for the private company that collects the waste, its their job to get the most money for that contract so they are naturally going to try aim for the highest figure to give them more career opportunities. The council negotiator on the other hand, has a limited budget. Now you'd think well okay this is where we crack it down and reduce the costs but again in practice councils dont negotiate the contracts too much becsuse if they spend more they get a bigger budget to spend! My point here is that none of these people are negotiating the cost, and therefore effectiveness of the service on behalf of the public who pay the tax to make it happen. I'll give you another great example, you pay for green waste to be collected right, thats your grass trimmings, hedge bits etc etc. That isn't unreasonable, a government has to collect recycling and landfill waste "at no charge" because if they didn't society would break down, but garden clippings not so much as if you refuse to pay you habe plenty alternatives such as compositing. Anyway, I digress, the garden waste is paid for by individual people. The private company (typically) processes the payment, giving a portion of that payment to the council and taking a handling fee which im sure isnt much although I dont know the figure / % total. The council then pay the private company, with the money that they've just been handed to collect the green waste. Along with all waste, garden waste goes to a tip / landfill site / recycling centre whatever you wanna call it these days. These tips, contrary to popular belief, are not run by your council they are also contracted out to private companies. What i have noticed, is that whoever runs a specific tip site, none of that companies trucks go to they all go to each others sites. Of course, there is a reason for this, the company running the site is paid by the council to process landfill and recycling waste by the tonne. Now, back to my point about green waste at the tip, the council dont just pay the private company to process the garden waste they actually give that company a budget to buy the green waste from the other private company which got paid to collect it by the council. This is not the end of it however, the garden waste (and also food waste in some areas nationwide, which works in an identical manner) is then "BioProcessed" and it becomes methane gas. Well, that's great! The council / government get a raw material back to disperse the cost of collecting said waste by taking it out of the budget of something who uses methane gas. Incorrect, it's not done that way, the methane gas is then sold back to the council. So the council get paid by someone to collect green waste, who then pay that same person to collect the green waste who then takes it to the tip which the council pay to be run by someone, who then pays for the waste out of the budget the council gave them and then sells the raw material that comes from processing it. Are you also scratching your head? Becsuse it doesnt make sense does it. Everyone ive explained it to says, "nah that doesn't make sense, does it? Surely not." and I tell you, I work in the industry. If you think this is bad, which it is, now consider the fact that the NHS is almost the only public service we have left that isnt private and even they are being bled dry by leeches. So how much do you think we're being scammed and overcharged on water services, electrical, drainage, public transportstion, gas works, social housing for example. All of these public services are either fully privatised and subsidised by the government or they are partially privatised. It is a cancerous problem that has infected 95% of this societies culture, we have a few years left to turn this around or the country will fall into a third world, before anarchy. Britons will not take being third world very well, we are very proud people and that's what i mesn by anarchy. As soon as we fall into that third world level, riots 10 times greater than what we saw this year will spread across the country like a fire in a hay barn. I'm glad to know you are one of the people showing these degradations of our once great nation because if all fails snd we don't save it, at least there will be documented history of how to avoid being what was one of the most vibrant places for opportunity and growth 10, 20, 30 years ago and is now becoming very hopeless and futile society for all that live within. I hope i provided some insight on this topic by sharing what I've learned in my month as a bin man, and how much it pains me. All the best Wesley, Jacob.

In cornwall where I am howcome all our waste collections have changed due to council we now have to seperate food waste from general and recycling and only have a certain amount as they provided us with rubbish little bins..some of us actual bags instead of bins...
@jacobwhite1360
@jacobwhite1360 10 күн бұрын
@@tashaax1993xanimalloverx so basically what research on landfill has shown us is that 1/3 of landfill waste is food waste, thats anything from fruit and veg to chicken bones etc etc which I'd hope you've been given a calendar and a booklet that should say in it. Basically what the government wants is to collect food waste separately so we can turn food waste into methane gas exactly like we do with the garden waste bins. So in some areas the councils are trialling weekly food waste rounds to collect in those smaller caddy's you mentioned, I agree they're awfully made and so inconvenient. Especially because buying tiny bin bags is really rather expensive! The aim of that is to reduce landfill collection to once every 3 weeks instead of 2 weeks because the landfill waste becomes less contaminated with stinking rotting waste. The recycling should be staying to every 2 weeks. I do get that it's irritating to have to change round routines because every 6 weeks you get all 3 bins on the same day but it is a good thing for the environment. Hopefully the councils keep on top of the company that collects your waste and they should be giving you a calendar every 3 months so you can see all of your collection dates to try and help with the transition. This is only a trial at the moment though, it's been ongoing for 18 months and it has been a resounding success so more are going at as I'm writing this. I've personally got to deliver 550 / 600 next week. I would strongly encourage you to give your honest opinions to the council because they are open to feedback and taking things on board. My only wish is that the whole methane being sold back to the government thing wouldn't happen because it defeats the point of being eco friendly if we have such high taxes and such poor public services that we struggle to live in the environment we're saving. But what do I know eh, I'm just a bin man! Thanks for your comment and question, I hope that's useful. I'm not based anywhere near Cornwall so I might not be totally accurate but that's how it's going in Sussex where I am currently so I would assume it is working similarly. I can't speak to the bags though, they sound terrible but at our company we only issue 23 litre green food waste caddy's with a little 5 litre grey one inside. The great one is intended to go in your home because you can put the food waste in it daily and take it to the green one outside so it doesn't stink out the house. I think we can all agree no one likes to hang around where your bins are at home and we definitely wouldn't want to with food altogether! We haven't got any bags we issue, but if you're in a situation or know someone who is where you're only given a bag I would definitely urge you to hound the council about getting the caddy because people do say it works well. I personally think they could be made a lot better as I have to replace lots of them and they haven't been out in the world for nearly 6 - 18 months where I've done recycling collection routes and collected wheelie bins from 20 years ago that are still perfectly functioning. It's a cost thing though again, private companies make bins which they no doubt charge an exorbitant amount of money for and so the council to keep it within budget reduced the quality each issue of bin design. The latest bins that are being brought out as of the last 12 months or so, I've seen the garden waste bins fold on their first collection and need replacing. I have had to replace already 3 garden waste bins that I have delivered previously inside the month that I have worked as a bin man. That just tells you there's a problem, we're going backwards! I went on a bit there, but definitely tell your council about the quality of the bins and tell them how bags are unacceptable! I can imagine how disgusting they must be!

@@WesleyWinter. It's a pleasure mate, after all you take the time to plan, film and edit these videos! It's something I've really needed to get off my chest if I'm honest, I'm someone who is more of a social capitalist rather than all out capitalism like today where profit is prioritised. I believe that people can work together for each other for a much more reasonable cost and therefore have much more freedom to do more, be more and subsequently progress faster as a human race again. As a 23 year old who's grown up bottom of the barrel poor in West Sussex, one of the richest counties in the country, I've witnessed almost all sense of community vanish. Certainly any outreach to the youth. I've witnessed all public services decline severely like hospitals and doctors appointments, buses and trains, roadworks and public maintenance works. Literally everything has gotten drastically worse than when I was a child and people are just in denial because round here they have always been so anti labour that they refuse to believe the government could ever do a better job than corporations because labour were shit when they came in after Thatcher! It's ridiculous, holding a grudge for nearly 40 years and holding everyone back from working cohesively.
@AI-Records24
@AI-Records24 10 күн бұрын
@@jacobwhite1360how does someone holding a grudge stop everyone “working together”? You’re naive mate, not your fault, you seem to still have hope and that’s great of course, but you seem to have faith in Labour? These are the people that designed the system you are talking about in your original comment. They think they deserve it, not only that they think you should get in a box and do exactly what they say when they say or else, because they have even bigger plans for you than just your little box. It’s why they are coming up with schemes such as net zero.. Their plans are laid out too, you can read them at anytime by looking into the organisations these people are part of, they literally tell you most of their aspirations, as they see nothing wrong with doing so, they see nothing wrong with you living in their prison. Honestly, just wait. I hope I gauged you wrong, and you are not so full of hope. The only way we get out of this mess is to take the country back ourselves, and that requires us to unite against them.

Don’t get me wrong I have been to Clacton a fair few times in my life as it’s local ish to me…… I was never taken to jaywick during my life because of the outside reputation…… a few months ago I wanted to see what the fuss was about and had a drive through and it wasn’t a pretty place shall we say……. But seeing this video really shows a lot of community spirit…… what England was built upon and what England is very quickly forgetting……. Is poor monitory??? I don’t think it is now I’m older money can only get you so far but a strong bond, strong community and loving friends is really all we need in life and it seems jaywick is very good at being rich in spirit……. I moved to the countryside 14 years ago as I love being part of a community not just a number on a house but a neighbour to someone……….

Property prices are dirt cheap in Jaywick I nearly moved there but could see 20 years ago that had been left to rot by the authorities the people are old school working class. Salt of the earth. Good ol boys and gals. I live further up the Essex coast now. I hope Nigel Farage can improve things in Jaywick and Clacton

Watching this from the Midwest of the US. Danny seems like a good bloke. I’m very fascinated by the rural/urban divide in the UK. It seems like most of these small villages are turned into tourism spots. Reminds me how here there are a lot of small college towns dependent on universities to provide employment and are a huge part of those places economy.

I'm so glad Wesley ypu went to Jaywick & saw it for yourself, It gets a really bad name. It really isn't that bad, London now is bad & unsafe, & most other parts of the UK! If i could wake up everyday & look out onto the beach with the beautiful sunrises & sunsets ive seen there, id move out of london to there in a shot. Unfortunately like Danny aaid there are no job opportunities there, so many shops have closed down in Clacton Town Centre even, & its really sad, as i love visiting there regularly to see my mum/dad. ❤

Those floods also hit snettisham Norfolk. In the late 70s and early 80s in snettisham you could still see the smashed sea front buildings and hundreds and hundreds of smashed and broken caravans all behind the beach. We used to go in and around them. All those years later, thats reason i know about it.
