Wildfires and fire bans. Dry climates lead to months long fire bans in the West more than ever before. Some people just don't want to deal with cutting up a bunch of wood to have a fire for an hour. What are our options? Behold, the portable campfire.
For a long time I thought these portable campfires were sort of pointless, but I have changed my mind after user one. Just make sure to fill the propane tanks before you head out.

Great video. Im planning on getting one next month for a New Years trip to Valley of the Gods where there is a fire ban. I usually disperse camp but sometimes when on the road all day and its late Ill grab a night at a KOA or Rv park. Many of them dont allow wood fires and this would be perfect. I have a 15' offroad trailer and can enjoy this under the awning.

I wanted to see the review with the lava rocks (the update at the end had next video suggestions covering it). No matter, interesting concept. If there is an update with the lava rocks that would be nice to show a compete review and perhaps the connection hose for the smaller propane tanks as that appears to be the idea behind this concept - smaller, uses less space.

The people with propane campfires were the only people with campfires at the Expo this weekend due to fire bans. Nights got cold, and it was awesome to be able to fire this up and warm up a bit before climbing into the tent. These are very nice to have!

Hey James! Yeah now that I have the fire pit its used more than I would have anticipated. Super convenient. The boots are Crispi brand. These are the Monaco model. I wouldn't recommend going up from there unless its for serious hiking as they are a pretty stiff and warm boot. I use their Nevada boot for backpack archery hunting and they are incredibly durable and can be resoled. Italian made! The Monaco is in my opinion the perfect road/offroad travel boot because its not hot, you can pivot your ankle for long drives and its still waterproof and of course comfortable. Not long but something like this much longer if you can get a low setting on this heater. Mini small green propane tanks last me 20-30 minutes on my low setting for my mini barbecue but most small barbs could have a lower setting in my opinion. Rocks would be essential to make them last longer on this.

how long does it run on one green can?

I used it last night for about 40 minutes on a tank, and it still has probably a 3rd of the tank left or so. But I am not entirely sure the tank was 100% full. I will be using it again this coming weekend and I can report back.

Sweet! I got the ignik growler with mine too. They both should come in soon. I’m hoping I can get around 5 hours of burn time or more with the larger tank size. I know the growler is about 5 green tanks or so

Buy the glass beads. looks and burns better than the rocks.

I considered going that route, but glass beads getting beaten around in the back of a 4wd is asking for glass dust. Nasty stuff!

@@mojavered. Depends how much you want to spend vs building it yourself. They make complete burner systems that could be adapted for this, though. The mating of the valves and pipework is going to be the most difficult and potentially catastrophic part of it all. I'm no pipefitter, and I damn sure wouldn't want to be on the hook for a wildfire if mine blew up.
