We picked this song because a) we love Ben Gibbard and b) the story is easy to follow. The shots were hard to get because none of us had shot a music video before. The solution was to shoot as much as possible and edit a lot in post-production. Thanks for your kind words.

@MangoBirdiee This was shot with a Canon GL1 (first released in 2001). The quality of video this camera produces and its overall limitations greatly impacted the results. Since late 2007, high-definition video cameras have become more mainstream and it seems as though everyone's forgotten about the "olden days". Our team managed to piec together a linear story that fits the song and share it with KZbin over 5 years ago.

BTW This was a class project and we didn't exactly have the resources to make this video what it could have been. But I think we were all pretty happy with the way it turned out. I think a better setting would've been 50s - 60s era. Would've made it seem more classic. Also in a music video the characters generally don't mouth all the words lol. Should've put some emotion on the faces and just had them out acting out the scenes. Could've had a car driving away at the say goodbye at the end part.

@stotheoliver After a bit of thought I think its referring to how he doesnt want her to leave, but is not able to accept that its over, and thus is forcing it into "Overtime" or the Third Quarter hoping to win her heart (I dont think they really have a overtime just a kickoff right?) Alternatively he feels he is the third wheel in a love triangle that he is not wanted in. Although this one only makes sense with the full context of the song.

i saw this video a very long time ago when i was a freshman haha was a nice video, and i hate to see everyone on these comments trying to hate on the quality and pointing out the little things that are wrong like they make blockbuster movies. the video is nice, simple, and adds a nice touch to this song. for those who dont like it then make a video on your own and it better look like it has a 50 million dollar budget or im gonna comment hate on it. :)

@Anatus1987 Technically...if you count OT, which very well may happen in a "tie game rivalry", meaning they're still tied after the 3rd period...That would be 4 periods, or quarters, provided the game ends after the first overtime.
