I used to be that the name had meaning and purpose to the person in question, like "nimrod" = "We will rebel", or "Noah" = "Rest". Both names explains their situations perfect. Nimrod was a great rebel and in noahs time the world got rest, or all were put to rest that is :) A study of the biblical names is very interesting. And if you study it you will see how much the biblical names and language is used in our modern world. Some examples under with their meaning. JeHoVaH = he is, he was (everlasting one) Jehosh´uah = Jehovah is salvation (Jesus(greek form) comes from this name) Jehohanan = Jehovah is a gracious giver (other forms Joanna, Johanan, John, Johan, Jonathan, Jonan) Abba = father Eve = Life giver Emanuel = With us is God Halleluiah = Praise ye God Adam = Man: red earth Abraham = Father of a great multitude Moses = Drawing out Miriam = their rebellion (greek form is Mary) Lucifer = Howling, shining one Lucas = a light (Luke is another form of this) Judah = he shall be praised (Judas is greek form, Jude) Jonah = a dove (Jonas greek form) Peace!
