Albert Einstein once said: “Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it … he who doesn’t … pays it.”
💵 While it may be tempting to spend everything you make, you’ll end up much wealthier if you invest as much and as early as you can.
As an example, let’s say we have two people, Albert and Barry who invest in a fund that gives them 7% a year.
🕺🏻Albert invests $5,000 a year at age 18. He stops investing after 10 years and just lets the investments continue to grow.
🕺On the other hand , Barry also invests $5,000 a year but starts at age 28 and continues his annual $5,000 contribution until he retires at age 58.
At the end of it, Albert invested for 10 years early on and only put in $50,000, whereas Barry invested $150,000 over 30 years.
Who do you think has more money at the end?
🕺🏻🎉 Surprisingly, Albert has more money over time with $521,000 whereas Barry only has $502,000!
The point is, it pays to invest as early as possible!
👍 If you haven’t invested yet, it’s ok! It’s better to start now than never at all.

lol, i got there when my dad died early of cancer and my mom couldn't make enough with her job to feed three children while other parts of the family took advantage of the situation and scammed her out of inheritance after she worked her ass off to also support her mother that had dementia. plus the bank also scammed granma out of the last account savings on top but there was no legal way because crime pays. there is nothing good in life unless you manage to become immoral and a criminal.

Timmy made good money and got a pool and a sports car in his 20s and had fun while doing it. He lived a really good life and it’s not like he went broke. Sure he will work a bit longer but on a scale he had more fun and a overall better experience. Billy lived like a brokie for 40 years and proceeds to retire early but he’s too old to really have any actual fun. He can enjoy the money

A recent Vanguard study found that, on average, a hypothetical $500K investment would grow to over $3.4 million under the care of an advisor over 25 years, whereas the expected value from self-management would be $1.69 million, or 50% less.

I’d genuinely invest this much money instead of something nice. Not because I know that it’ll grow in the future, not because I want to live a humble life, but because there’s something so satisfying about waking up on a Saturday morning to see that one stock that you’ve invested thousands in has skyrocketed.

Funny thing with my country. We have something called the superfund. Once you start working, part of your paycheck goes to it and basically once you retire you can tap into it. And with the money I would do the 20/20/40 split, 20% for fun, 20% for groceries, rent etc and 40% into savings.

My parents retired early at 50. They are currently 57 and 60. They are worth 2.4 million. They are relaxing and enjoying even more time. Yes they worked hard in their youth and invested a good amount of money, but we enjoyed life we traveled a lot and we treated ourselves every now and then. I learned from them but I am living with them after graduation about to work in June 85k before taxes a year. I will save it and invest a majority over time. I can be a millionaire earlier than normal if I am consistent and continue to live frugally. I want my parents to see me reach millionaire status with hard work and dedication and possibly can retire early as well so I can enjoy time with kids and wife as much as I can. Probably can even get a bunch of toys along the way and be generous for others. Wisdom is needed guys. Learn how to be humble and live on way less than you make.

The question is how Timmy is going to maintain everything. Doing this also obliterates any chance of building up generational wealth. Also by the way Billy spent less than 35 years of his life in office while his brother Timmy is going to be spending a lot more due to him falling victim to lifestyle inflation and in the end Timmy is going to have a much more peaceful life.

Absolutely DO NOT do what he just said in an account like the one he linked, no matter how many free stocks they try to give you. Brokerage accounts are not tax deductible and you have to pay taxes on capital gains and dividends. If you want to do this as efficiently as possible, open an IRA or Roth so that you can get tax savings along with it. You should only use a brokerage if you need the liquidity. That being said, funds in an IRA or Roth are locked in until you turn 59 1/2. If you try to withdraw funds before that you'll have to pay a 10% tax penalty. But hands down using a retirement account is going to save you a lot more money for retirement.
