The customary unit is still preferred for daily use because 1) it's the norm, and 2) at this point, it's too costly to fully convert to metric without any perceived benefits. These are why they still stick with it outside of academia, international trade and the military. That’s a phenomenonal thing on its own to me. The red storm is a defining thing of Jupiter I’ve daydreamed about since I was a child, the thought of it being a new storm is insane. It’s barely different in age to the Jamestown settlement, yet seems like it would’ve been there since the planet came to be. With the role it plays in the condition of the whole planet, is it expected to heat up further or start to cool with the winds calmed?

"without actually observing it". Ehm, no. That did happen (that we knew about it without having observed it), but that was until the 1850s, when it was actually observed through a telescope. @Cheech Bickens What a stupid argument. It's fairly common to talk about world-changing scientific discoveries from the past as "we", in the sense of "human kind". I don't agree that 2 "wind band" can keap the storm at the same spot (~2:18). My belief is that there has to be some activity on the surface kausing the event even that we cannot see any surface.

Thank you for including the metric system so that 95% of the earths population can understand what you are talking about. Seems like many scientific videos on KZbin doesn't do that very often, even though you should always use metric when talking about science. Great video!

If storms of this magnitude are common features on those two planets, chances are good Juptier will develop another Red Spot in the future.
