My mom had a liver transplant in 1999 of sept. She died in December 99. It was a bad liver to start with and back then they waited till the patient was so sick that they had to do one. She died from a bad liver and from being so malnutrition from going so long on a waitlist. Her body could not fight back and they put her on powerful food supplements that bodybuilders take to build up their muscles and build up their body. That didn’t work. I’m glad this guy had a successful transplant two of them in fact. But my mom suffered a lot and I still get mad when I think about everything that she went through. One nurse that worked with her demanded that she get up and sit up no matter how bad my mom felt. And after she sat up and made her sit up in the chair for 45 Minutes, they had to come in rush and take her down to ICU. She was incubated. I heard that Nurse retired shortly after that. She needed to. There is a fine line between being a good nurse and a nurse that understands the patient. She was just going by what the book told her to do not what the patient could not do, my mom always did things to make herself better. She was a Person who did everything she could to make herself better. She was just so exhausted from several surgeries after the initial liver transplant, that she was wore out. The surgeries had to do with her transplant. They told me after she died that they were looking into doing patients sooner Than they did mom’s Surgery. I hope so because if they had done hers earlier, I believe she would’ve lived, so you can post those stories to make people want to go there, but I can post this one and show you that not everything goes as planned. There was only one dr we loved. We could stand the surgeon. So it did mot feel like home!!
