After watching this a second time, I decided to implement some of your strategies in my community today. And my God, it worked. I closed my mouth and allowed Holy Spirit to inform me what question to present when it was time. To my surprise, there were people in my congregation that were participating in the discussion who usually stay quiet. Because of this, we were able to address some of the fears they had. I will be trying this at work tomorrow. But I needed to circle back to you and say THANK YOU.❤

After listening to this episode, I realize the importance of being silent in so many areas: relationships with my husband and my adult sons as well as others I come in contact with. I also realize that I may have actually hindered others from growing by not being silent and answering and providing the solution upfront. I plan to apply the "being silent" strategy.

This has perfect timing for me. I hadn’t been listening to your podcasts and today I am. Just had a leadership training at my church - tables leads for our Women’s Bible study. We discussed silence. I don’t have a problem being silent for a lady to stop, think and process a question about the study. It’s the timing of that silence knowing when I have to move on due to time constraints. I know for me outside of being a table lead, I need silence in my personal life…to listen to others and listen to God. I sometimes wonder if He can’t answer my prayers because I am talking too much for him to respond!

I needed to hear this tonight. (Confirmation) I broke down in tears a couple of days ago because God showed me during a conversation with my son that I don’t allow other people to pour into me. That hit deep🥲 It was the first time that I felt like I let my son pour into me by asking him a question and being quiet allowing him to speak. Not just hearing him but actually listening. All this time I thought I always pour into others & they leave my cup empty but no it was because I don’t allow them to pour into me. Lord I thank you🙌🏽 All I could do was cry & hug my son while telling him how much I thank him ❤️

Watched this twice..took notes the second time. As a teacher and small group leader I really struggle with talking too much and getting so excited that I tell all the answers, and don’t give enough space to others who are also capable. This is a word in season for me. The Lord had already said to me “There is power in the pause “. This is part 2. I will be asking my small group to help me and keep me accountable in this learning to lead journey. Thankyou Chrystal. [ From New Zealand ]

Wow! If your voice sounded like mine, I would think that I had recorded this about myself, about my life. If it gets too quiet, I impulsively speak. No matter the environment. People think that I am extroverted, when in fact I am more introverted. More recently I have been working on keeping silent during those “weird moments” and it feels good when I pass the test and allow others to fill the quiet space. 😊

I must say I feel seen. For years I've felt like being quiet was a stigma. I was voted one of the quietest in my senior class, when in actuality I'm more quiet in groups than one on one; but just like you I tend to speak only when I feel compelled to say something. On the other hand if I was talking with someone and there was a pause, I would quickly try to fill it with words because I was afraid the other person would think I'm not interesting enough to carry on a conversation. However recently I've allowed myself to sit in the space, and discovered when that happens, the other person usually brings up something else to talk about and we continue to flow. I realize there's a time to speak up and a time to be silent, but this message is confirmation that when I am silent it is not a flaw.

I appreciate this topic so much. It hit home and confirms what my husband has been telling me all the time. When I ask him for an answer or immediate input or feedback in his silence he would tell me he’s thinking about what I just said. I’m the one looking for dialogue, an answer to my questions and concerns. He listens, and at times with frustration because I have all the words! 😣 Now I see why he has no words it’s because I have them all!😂 Thanks for the tips on asking the right questions. I need to work on this. I’m truly a work in progress. You were right on target for me today! ❤❤❤

She cries out in the public square. 21 She calls to the crowds along the main street, to those gathered in front of the city gate: Luke 19:14 And He answered and said unto them, “I tell you that if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.”

@@glenda7846 thanks dear. It is important to know when to speak, and to be moderate in everything. Jesus, a great teacher started teaching at 12, practiced the power of silence early in the mornings (Mark 1:35) and the rest of the day, He engaged with people. Anyway people came to Him freely to listen. It depends on what you are saying to others. If you are speaking life to others, it is saving and people will listen to you. If you are quarrelling with another, then you restrain your mouth, you shut up not to increase anger in another person😊 "The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life"...Let us choose to speak life unto others, if it is not life, helping word, keep your peace😊 Noah preached for 120 yrs Lot chose to live a righteous life in fear of the people around him. Heavens declare the glory of God without speech, without lips Speak life to others with your lips and your life

Appreciate this talk, Chrystal. I’m convicted all the time about needing to be a better listener and more kind and considerate in conversations. I have ADDHD and always in talk mode if there is someone around. Dominating conversations is one of my big downfalls. I don’t really set out to do so but when I open my mouth, away I go. I know that all that you said is wise and correct it I also know having knowledge and implementing are two different things. I thought the other day I should PRAY before every conversation ahead of time. And, actually take time to find a book study or articles that offers practical tips and goals, that I could journal and work at putting into practice. I really want to be present for my people, and others in general to listen and learn from what they have to say. Like you said it is a gift we can give others. Thanks!🙏🏼

I was still communicating through the body language of silence and was powerfully showing up as one of the most confident persons in the room.
