Great point! Just because a planet is in detriment or fall doesn't mean it is 'unskilled'. There are many other factors to consider. Thank you for sharing.

Nice to hear that you discuss doing astrology by hand! My journey with astrology began in the mid-1970s. It has been a faithful companion throughout my life since then, alongside my work as a teacher of Swedish and English, as well as my career as a data consultant - the latter actually due to my interest in astrology. I belong to the old school that drew up horoscopes by hand, but I eventually learned the program 'AstroCalc' and then an early version of Solar Fire.

difficult question. a standalone book, not that i know of. references embedded in other books, HEAPS. There's a working group at CAELi creating an anthology of articles about bounds and their applications, and it should be available in book form by the end of the year, specifically to solve this problem! :)

Terms are fascinating, but they are not the first step in evaluating essential dignities. Beginners should start with Rulership (Domicile) to Exaltation, Triplicity, and then (if they want to go further) Term and Face the last. There are many nuisances associated with this, such as the degrees of exaltation and peregrine. Astrology is full of rabbit holes that once you get in, it is hard to get out. 😅 I'm glad that Jenn was able to study Astrology for her literature degree. Modern disciplines often require vigorous scientific research with qualitative and quantitative data analysis. Astrology has not caught up with these methods, as most of its knowledge is from history or theories. I hope that new generations of astrologers will approach it systematically and academically so that it will be accepted as a legitimate subject in universities in the future.

@@KeplerCollege Yeah, looking at her chart with Venus in the 10th, it could be pretty literal too. A female figure who has "fallen" in the eyes of the public. And it's square her Jupiter in the 8th, and she was charged for insider trading/fraud! Kind of similar to Bernie Madoff in a way! Of course she was able to bounce back which could be thanks to the fact that both Venus and Jupiter are in the terms of Venus! Going to try and see if tagging @Zahrtillery works!

Stop saying you can’t do it, you only reinforce that belief and self-sabotage. Take a small chunk and learn that chunk until you get it, then move forward. Astrology is a life long pursuit once you get involved.

I second the sentiments above. Take your time, be kind to yourself, and practice, practice, practice. Jenn's brilliance puts her in a league of her own (I struggle to keep up!), but she articulates her thoughts in a wonderfully relatable way. All the more reason to join her class! :) - Callum

You can do it! As they say, slow and steady wins the race... emphasis on steady. It took me ~y e a r s~ to get my head wrapped around certain parts of astrology. I started learning in 1997 and didn't see my first client until 2015. Lots of life happened in between and sometimes things take the time they take. Your journey will be perfect for you and the kind of astrology you will practice. No one's path is the same!

Get a nice notebook and slowly take some notes! Slow down the video playback speed if you need to, and pause often to finish writing down what was said. Also turn on closed captions AND there's an option to view the automatically generated transcript on the side, so you can see some words you might miss/not understand, or can click back to previous things that were said. Writing down the words, even if you don't understand them, will help to create that foundation that will develop over time as you encounter more and more astrology. And it's a physical source/book you can always refer to! If you keep at it, you will definitely get excited to see when things click!
