Fantastic advice Dave that all makes tons of sense. As this was posted such a long time ago, it would be good to hear peoples' thoughts around how this can be executed in a regular gym. Let's say you grab the last rack and all other machines are taken - what do you do? My suggestion: bands! Get a band and you can do all of the upper body movements with it. Hammys - RDL, or even glute bridges if needed. Again, really helpful info Dave, especially around why you suggest doing these movements.

my dad went to high school with Paul Sr. though he was a couple years younger; if I remember Paul Sr. was a talented wrestler and probably did also do a good bit of lifting himself!

Hmmmm, This is exactly what Louie S Recommends for a warm up minus the seated rows and pull downs which is weird that you want to warm up in a seated position but ok... thanks Louie
