Have a great holiday Simon. Since moving to west Wales over ten years ago I’ve not joined a club because working as a care/support worker meant long unsociable hours and I couldn’t justify the cost because I could hardly play. I’ve now joined a local club because I don’t work anymore, it’s bliss! But I have noticed my game is no where near what it was when I was a member of two clubs near Bristol and practicing/ playing a lot,obviously. It’s still fun but I doubt I’ll ever get back to that level, I look great on the range, but on the course you’ve actually got to aim at something 😂 So your point about not playing the number of rounds with the resulting effects on your game/confidence is well made! Happy Christmas Simon, cheers👍🏌️🍺

I was talking with my caddy today. I know she plays a bit in low season when there are no tourists. Quite simply you cannot play off/on golf and expect results. Now you don't work I'm certain it will come back, maybe not the length but the straightness and the short game. All the best. Simon

Hello Robert, sorry to hear that. Hope it's fixed now and fixed for good. I find myself losing interest from time to time. Does your golf drive diminish like your sex drive? I don't know. We play it for decades and it would not be surprising to lose interest from time to time. I'm going to try through winter but I wont get out of bed if it's raining. Merry Xmas to your family and friends. Simon

Hi Simon, looking forward to the new videos coming out, whenever they are launched. Hope you’re having a super holiday. I once asked my PGA pro why the ball goes less distance in the cold winter and he said that he had spoken to a scientist during his PGA training and he had said it’s simple, the air molecules are closer together in the cold winter and they present more resistance to the ball which slows it down. It’s the reverse in the warm summer when the air molecules expand and offer less resistance. Maybe is a combination of the elasticity of the ball being compressed when hit and the oxygen molecules being further apart or closer together. I just wanted to share what I had learnt about the subject.
@thehairygolfer9 күн бұрын
Hello Paul, I got back last night. It was a bit blowy on the M4 home. Got to agree with your Pro, it's certainly a combination of things and air density is on the list. I'll bet humidity makes a difference. I have found being warm makes my body work better too. Add in layers of clothing and I think that might be the full list. Thanks for sharing. I always learn from people in the comments.

Here is a tip for winter golf. Hop on a flight to Marseilles, which is about a 50 euro round trip in January, play golf on a local course for about 30 euros, then go home :) I bet that, even with hotel and food it would still be cheaper than a lot of golf courses in UK, and much warmer :)
@thehairygolfer11 күн бұрын
It certainly would be warmer. Sounds like a good plan for a long weekend. I will have options in the future closer to home. I'll put that idea in the things to do tin. Cheers

Hello Gary, would you believe me if I said I have played in The Smokies? We had a family holiday in Gatlinburg. Had a cabin up the hill one August. I took my clubs and sneaked away twice to play that course that Gary Player designed. What was it's name? It has had problems with finances the last few years. Bent Creek! How could I forget that! A great course to make you think about your tee shot. I miss that Texas steak house and we took the kids over the border to Cherokee and that observation tower at the top of the mountain where you can see forever. Oh boy, what wonderful memories of that holiday. I don't think I will get the chance to come back but thankyou for the offer. Simon

Take the ball with you to Thailand. Unfortunately, the ball now has an affinity for the water. You might only get one shot before it finds it's "home" in a water hazard.

I did. I played it at Laguna. Not every hole. You know how caddies stick spare balls in their pockets? I played it on the first and I don't think I saw it appear again until the 4th. I can honestly say it's in the bottom of my bag and I did play at least a few holes with it.
@nevillehubbard734711 күн бұрын
I wonder if that ball is still in your golf bag!!!! That you looked back to your last trip to Phuket and drew those conclusions, is a good thing. It gives you a starting point in getting back to where you were playing decent golf. As I've said before, you have an advantage in that you have thousands of hours of you to watch and compare! And, yes, you have to make time for you while you're playing. Personally, I like playing golf in "companionable silence". That allows me to concentrate on my game! However, it's rare that I get the chance to, as other things, and people, stop that happening! So, how hard it must be adding filming on top of that, plus thinking about what you're going to say in about 3 holes time!!!! It's actually remarkable that you can play any semblance of decent golf, given that lot!!!!
@thehairygolfer11 күн бұрын
The ball is still in the bag somewhere. I didn't play a full 18 with it. The caddy usually sticks 2 spare balls in her pockets and when she retieves it from the hole might not give it you back. The ball of course was none the worse for wear for it's 5 weeks of drowing. I've been trying to play without thinking of the score or thinking about what I might say. It's been better at times. Although in one round the caddy added up the score and told me what it was after 5 or 6 holes. It went a bit down the toilet for 3 holes. Plenty of silence with me if I have my serious head on anyway. Cheers

After every winter in Chicago it takes 10 rounds to get my swing back. It's annoying.
@thehairygolfer11 күн бұрын
Winter is annoying. Chicago gets very cold doesn't it? We are fortunate here in that if it's frosty we get put on temp greens and can still play. I don't think they do that in the states. I think they just close the course. Our big problem is rain from the atlantic and the courses are too wet to play. Cheers
