Pre-washing contents for restoration is one of the most important aspects of ultrasonic cleaning. It emulsifies soot, dirt, and grime, before it goes into the ultrasonic cleaning wash. This is especially helpful in heavy contaminant build-up--such as smoke and fire.
With very delicate or high value items, sometimes restoration takes place only in the pre-wash station, rather than the ultrasonic cleaner. This is to preserve paints and other fine details of the contents.
