Long-term use of steroids can cause fluctuations to blood sugar. They also weaken your immune system. However, I see why they had to prescribe them. Not just for the weight gain. The wounds she had were diabetic ulcers(?) Or overuse of steroids.

Loosing a loved one is very painful. There are many questions that one asks without answers. For Njambi and all mothers who have lost their children including my sister who lost her 26yr old daughter in April, may Jehovah give you strength.

Am really sorry for your loss Maryanne Njambi loss of a loved one has never been easy.may our good lord continue strengthening you and may the angel continue resting in peace! just to kindly pass this information to you and our fellow parents and even wananchi on TB treatment duration from an experts point of view, The normal Tb treatment is 6 months however in cases of drug resistance TB is longer than the conventional treatment, with a minimum duration lasting up to 1 year. Treatment may sometimes be extended up to 2 years in some cases especially if the disease is extensive.

The silver lining amidst this whole tragedy is the miraculous way this mother stood for her daughter serving her, treating her, loving and caring for her and above all keeping her hopes of living alive. You will surely meet your loving daughter on the heavenly side some day.

I'm so sorry mum. However, your daughter seem to have had MDR TB (treatment is over 12months). Its not easy to treat, but a few people survive. Also steroids in managing her condition was not for weight gain, but to ease inflammation. Differential diagnosis: I wish they checked for lupus. The doctors did their best..I wish you healing. 💜

Agreed. I wish the doctors would take time to explain to patients families on the conditions but I understand this is not easy in a public setting where doctors are overwhelmed.

This reminds me of my Best friend she went through the same exact journey...TB, steroids and her kidney and liver failed in a span of 3 months. Oedema the same exact prognosis and i feel lots of misdiagnosis. 5 years later and i miss her aloooot. May God continue giving you comfort and peace
