A brilliant piece of music. I'm so glad that there is still a place for this music in modern day banding.

Excellent music, excellently played... "To serve the present age, my calling to fulfill, oh may it all my powers engage to do my Masters will" many years ago I cut my teeth in the Rochdale Citadel Band 2nd Baritone section on this wonderful piece of music, but the words are what have stayed with me all these years. Thank you NSYB

Beautiful and touching piece by the late Leslie Condon. Nice attempt this by the band members,, but the musicians seemed a bit tired and did not bring the composer's intentions to the expected level this time. The finale was messy and too hectic, and "Courage Brother" was more stressful than triumphant. The conductor had generally too fast tempi, and he was beating the same patterns with the hands and baton almost in all parts, which gave me as a listener and viewer a reduced experience of the performance. Anyway I am grateful that you shared this one.

Fine performance, but march at the finale way too fast!

Is this Staff Band The Salvation Army's staff band?
@albertjang71333 жыл бұрын
Yes. The New York Staff Band of the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army has several 'Staff' bands around the world, two of which are in the USA. Just off the top of my head there is obviously the New York Staff Band, the Chicago Staff Band, the Canadian Staff Band, the Melbourne Staff Band (Australia), the German Staff Band, the Amsterdam Staff Band (Holland), and the International Staff Band (Britain) and two or three others. These are the 'top' bands in The Salvation Army representing their various territories. By design, most of the players work in some capacity for The Salvation Army whether as officers, painters, accountants etc. hence the designation as 'staff' bands. Many of them are complimented by auxiliary players from the various 'corps' bands (Salvation Army church bands) to ensure they have the amount of players needed. So to answer your question, yes, this is ONE of the Salvation Army Staff Bands.

@@robbcarson Thank you for answering my question. I've had the privilege of hearing the Chicago Staff Band at a music convention in Ann Arbor but I didn't know they were also in Europe too. My grandparents were Sg. Maj. in the Army. My grandpa use to hold the highest stilt walking record until he fell and was a clown and acrobat in Ringling Bros. circus befoe he met grandma and was saved then joined her in the Salvation Army.

Try reading the composers notes before you critize then you will understand the reason for each tone

What are you going on about? You can’t really break the rules in music, that’s the whole point.
