canadian here too in quebec, GG is absolutely fabulous the world blew open the 2nd week of October 2023 on a massive global scale and on the most personal level my husband -- the only man for me, my one true love of 40 years since i was a teen, father to my two daughters, a very young grandfather to our 3 grandbabies -- received an advanced stage 4 diagnosis at only 59 years of age our personal world was imploding and exploding such was the emotional pain and the massive aggressive brutality of the terminal suffering inflicted on my husband -- who has always been the kindest most giving most helpful most stable most hardworking most dutiful and most protective human being i have ever met and in the outer world -- which we are forced to trust and be faithful citizens to -- those very political structures & values we depend on . . they were all blowing wide open now im here alone for the first time in 40 years, and im no longer a fearless naïve pretty wide-eyed 17 year old, im aging and battered, shattered and struggling to stay strong for my daughters and grandbabies frankly im so grateful for people like @georgegallowayofficial and @JLMelenchon who speak the truth so boldly so independently so openly so intelligently frankly this is just NON-existant in canada and though i listen to NormanF, NoamC, and some brilliant european speakers such as Ilan Pape, JeremyC, RonyBr, JacquesB, Raphael Pitti, ChristopheO GG and JLM speak with a real *lived* kind of human compassion and understanding they are just so inspiring for me i am now donating to them both

You can be appointed a cabinet minister if you are in the House of Lords, I'm not sure whether or not that has always been the case but it has been since the 1980's as David Young was so appointed back then. The main advantage is that a cabinet minister appointed from the House of Lords cannot appear in the House of Commons and thus cannot be scrutinised or questioned by Members of Parliament.
