I heard he was sick but didn't know he had passed. Carman held a concert in Barbados in the eighties, and he allowed those who didn't have the admission fee to still come in. That was never done by a recording artist before or since. I still have a few of his cassettes. I'll miss him for sure.

Appreciated and loved Carman so much. I made him a chemo cap when he announced he was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago. I think it was in 2010 or 2012, I don't remember the year exactly. I shipped it to him with no expectations, I just wanted him have the assurance his fans love him. A few weeks later I received a lovely thank you note handwritten and signed by him. I saw Carman @ the Maybe Ctr on the Campus of ORU in the '80's. What a delight!! The Harvest came in that night! Followed & prayed for him thru the cancer's & he came thru like the trooper God created him to be! I was shocked to hear this last surgery for a hernia took him out. I was just listening to some of my favorite songs from your "Some-O-Dat" album and was feeling pretty nostalgic. When I was 14 years old I was orphaned, separated from my siblings, had already been bounced around between various homes and at that time was living in a Baptist Group home in Indiana. That's when my best friend introduced me to your music and I adored it. I left the Group Home at 16, became legally emancipated and went on to get married to the best guy in the whole world and had four of the most amazing kids ever! I am truly happy. And listening to the songs that were a big part of my teen years-the ones that helped me survive the abuse and cruelty that almost always dwells in such places, I was so thankful for you and your music. Which is why I was so sad when I listened to this. I can't understand how any person of God can willingly be blind to so much corruption. A man who is on tape talking about sexually assaulting women (and doesn't deny it either). A man who is caught lying on tape over and over. I realize that fundamental Christians have historically aligned themselves with the Republican Party, but at what point do you use your common sense rather than blindly towing the party line that you are told to? I really expected so much more from a man as intelligent as you. I am very sad to see this. BTW, congratulations on beating cancer! That's wonderful.

I was a young adult going through a very low point in my life stationed overseas in the military and I was too broken to come before the Lord. I drank to drown out the pain at the NCO club and couldn't even get drunk. That night while walking back to the barracks I felt I had to make a decision to choose God or turn away from Him and enter into an unwholesome relationship with someone who had captured my heart but who was far from God. With sadness and much reluctance I turned away from her and chose God... I then found out later she had already been seeing someone else. Not long too long after I recall going to church on a Sunday evening and was invited to the youth pastors home after the service. While over pizza and conversation the pastor popped in one of your music videos. It was my first time hearing your music. It was new, fresh, different and I tuned out everyone else in the room and focussed on what you were singing, saying and playing. I will never forget how at that moment it was as though I walked under a sunlit waterfall and all of my hurt, pain, sadness and brokenness were being washed clean... I suddenly felt renewed, lighter, cleansed, filled with inner peace and joy. That was many years ago and today I now minister to men, youth and young adults encouraging and praying with and for them to not lose faith, to not give in or give up...that in Christ all things are possible! Thank you Carmen you made a difference in this young soldiers life...and now I am sharing the message of Gods love, grace, mercy, hope and salvation with the generation thats coming up behind us. Love you my highly esteemed Brother...your name will be mentioned in my prayers!

One thing we can say about the arrival of trump in politics, it revealed just where a lot of people stood on what Jesus taught. There is no one more opposite of Jesus than trump. I am reminded of Matt7:22, many will come to me and say, did we not prophesy in your name and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name. Then I will declare unto them I never knew you, depart from me you workers of lawlessness.
