Yeah but at the same time COD has managed fine with Tac Sprint for half a decade. It's just what people have come to expect, and when it was introduced in MW19 people had mixed feelings over it, it now seems to be mostly positive. Also just as time goes on people want more complex features in games, not to say tac sprint is a complex thing but it adds another layer.

The skill gap in this game is not only tac sprint but also stamina utilisation by jumping and slide cancelling and using that cycle. You are actually faster and still utilise your stamina better than regularly slide cancelling

Cold War had an odd "Tac Sprint" mechanic. Your first couple seconds of sprinting were a fast speed then it would slow down into a normal sprint without changing animations. It would reset every time you stopped running. I found myself stopping for .01 seconds to get that boost and it worked well. Tac Sprint is definitely better though.

BO4 was the perfect middle ground between old and new CoD in some aspects. The movement system was definitely one of them. Simple enough for players of all skill levels to enjoy but it also had shit like skating which took hours and hours to learn how to do. Aim assist in that game was also absolutely perfect. Subs loosing AA after certain ranges meant you couldn’t challenge an AR across the map as easily, it actually took a lot of skill to gun people in that game. If only they never added the specialist system in I think it would’ve been arguably better than BO3.
