Absolutely amazing!!!! Your research is fantastic. The way you put the information together into a story is truly an art. Great story full of historical events tied together. You deserve some recognition.

I've done extensive research in Montgomery County, on Isaac Taylor and his kin. There was no courthouse in Christiansburg between 1802 and 1817. Some records were stored in Botetourt and others were in Staunton. There are records scattered all over because of this. Preston did a great service to historians and History, by leaving his manuscripts, which I referenced as Isaac Taylor was one of his officers. You give a great teaching video. Keep up the good work!

I hope to see some of these places this spring. I wanted to say, that many tories were removed and placed on 7 British ships in Wilmington, N. C. in 1783,where they were taken to Newfoundland and other British provinces.

I am a descendent of James Lynn Patton who was killed on the campus of Virginia Tech. It was the same place where Smithfield Plantation is today Patton is my 7th great grandfather. William Preston was his nephew. Patton's daughter Margaret Patton married Col. John Buchanan, Patton gave them the Plantation at Max Meadows. Virginia. It took in the whole territory where Max Meadows is today. It was called the Anchor of Hope Plantation, and the church where entering Max Meadows is still being used, the longest running congregation in Wythe County, Virginia. The church is named Anchor and Hope Presbyterian Church.

I have seen that anchor of hope sign down there before, thanks I’m going to look that up, I’ve done another story about the Preston’s of Bristol.

The Preston's in the Abingdon area are desended from William Preston of Smithfield. One of John Buchanan and Margaret Patton's daughter, Sarah "Sally " Buchanan, married John Floyd. If I have it correct, their son, John Floyd, married William Preston's daughter, Letitia Preston.
