If the Pretenders don't get you moving, you don't have a pulse. Chrissie continues to be a wonderful artist and so interesting to hear during interviews. She and Martin Chambers are truly rock-n-roll legends. Her bass player and lead guitarist are excellent too. 👍👍👍👍👍

She’s from Akron, Ohio as are Devo! She worked as a waitress and was a fan of the British Invasion. So somehow she decides to pursue a career as a singer and songwriter and moves to London! I don’t know where she got the gumption to do it but she had the incredible voice which made it all possible. Plus she wrote good songs that fit her vocals perfectly. The rest is history after she put together the Pretenders and their brilliant debut album riding the Punk New Wave explosion that occurred in the late Seventies. The result was a hit album and headlined tours. Then Two original members died. She carriered on. And wrote more hits and kept going! The rest is history! HOF for sure!

With her Christmas favourite of mine, being 2000 miles. Unfortunately never performed. Excellent live performance, Chrissie and your band. Outstanding performance. The Pretenders were probably the most exciting band to come along at the tail end of the 70s ( 1979). Great music from the start although the band was beset by tragedy, they continued with drummer Martin Chambers joining Chrissie Hynde as the two original members. The band is in top form at Austin City Limits, the best music show in the history of television.

1980. That first album was so so important to me, my friends, my life. They took a big mis-step by releasing the EP BEFORE the second album. Talk of the Town was one of the gems , but because it was on the EP first , it took some of the lustre off LP number 2. By the time the 3rd LP came out - they lost me.

You know, when she says balsam is the best rock drummer, one is inclined to think she was being serious. No one drummer is, but he really is incredibly good. It may be that he is consistently this impressive which makes gigging so much easier for a band. It's just a shame that every band isn't this tight playing live.
