Probably because of inflation, and Poker Game uses 3-digit prizes.

00:07, it's strange to see a child in the audience in the early 1990's.

A Mitsibishi Mirage? Now when did Bob Barker allowed overseas foreign cars on The Price Is Right after he impose a ban on it when he became executive producer? For the record, I had a 1986 Galant for 2 years and man, those son-of-a-bitches are expensive to maintain. All parts had to be brought from overseas with added expenses for shipping and handling for foreign countries and so forth. So let's get the record straight. Fords, Mercurys, Pontiacs, Chevys, Olds, Dodges, Plymouths, Geos, Chryslers, Lincolns, and Cadillacs are all domestics whereas Mitsibishis, VWs, Hondas, Mazdas, Suburus, Isuzus, Yugos, and Bentleys are foreign. Learn your carology Bob!

Some Mitsubishi models were built in Illinois under a partnership with Chrysler. I have no specifics to offer other than that partnership ended in the late 90s

The ban wouldn't come until a few months later, after receiving letters about Desert Storm.

It was not long after this when all cars on the show were American brands only. No Mitsubishis on the show when that took effect, no matter where they were built.

Bob Barker was Executive Producer of The Price is Right a few years *before* the foreign car ban started in 1992-93. Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, and Jeep were still car prizes on the show *despite* the merger with German-based Daimler (think Mercedes) from 1998-2007.

Did "Poker Game" get retired because of Drew or did Roger retire that on his own accord?
@wschmrdr3 жыл бұрын
Had nothing to do with the host, but rather you had to use prizes less than $1000, so it was already being played once or twice a year before finally being retired. Clock Game at least had the option for a bonus for winning (inspired by the Davidson version), whereas you didn't have that with Poker Game.

Yes, although they could've found a way to play with four digit prizes. But, oh well, I never liked the game anyway, so I was to see that game scrapped.
@wschmrdr3 жыл бұрын
Theoretically you could have used some four digit prices (dollar game is done with 8 numbers in the serial), but just easier to retire since it was seldom played anyway. Hit Me retired around the same time, too.
@systemoperator3 жыл бұрын
I know that now.

In the first pricing game, John should have been allowed to keep the $3,290 brass bed, since he correctly guessed that prize's price.
