That's because those of us brought up in the 1970s were taught to behave and be polite - and if you didn't you got a switch to your behind. None of this touchy-feely crap. You misbehaved, you got whipped. Period.

@@zabadaziditit’s funny, the generation that was brought up in the 70s are almost always the most angry, hostile and rude people I see both on social media and in real life. Kids overall today are behaved really well, I’m always impressed with the manners I see at my kids’ school, and that’s without being the spanking and physical abuse the older generation misses so much.

I was on The Price is Right, many years after this episode was filmed. The studio is much smaller than it looks on TV, and it takes all day to make a single episode. Bob Barker was a real gentleman, very talkative, and told some interesting stories to pass the time as they were changing the sets. Unfortunately, I didn’t win anything, but it was a fun experience.

That was probably a blessing. I've heard so many stories of what a nightmare it is trying to pick up the large prizes, not to mention having to pay the tax bills. If I won a prize like a kitchen set, a ping pong table, or a car on a game show, I would refuse it because of those reasons.

@eddieraines2844, funny how I can get so excited for someone winning ~50 yrs ago. Hearing her story about her upcoming wedding and how she had no luggage and then won it. Then got down to the car and I looked at those prices and 2 of them were only $1 apart. I then said "Well he said it has a V8 so maybe 2950 or 2990...." And then she selected both those numbers and ended up winning. I was shouting, so happy that she had some luggage and a new car for her wedding & then the showcase too! ^_^ I still do it today when I catch The Price Is Right etc. I just can't help but be happy when good things happen to people because we know life can be so full of bad things....

@davidbagner3136
@davidbagner3136 Ай бұрын
The big wheel did not appear until the show went to a full hour in 1975. Similarly, the half hour vesion only included three pricing games . The problem without the big wheel is that if all thre contestants won their respective game, only the two highest winners would be selected for the show case. In a sense, this was a complete game of chance. For example, how do you know in advance the value of the prizes?

I came of age in the late 90s/early 2000s when GSN used to air these…and I lived and breathed any syndicated programming I could find from the 70s! I haven’t thought of that for years until I randomly clicked on this video and felt the beautiful wave of nostalgia. Meta-nostalgia. I remember being so stricken by the way women were back then…It was such a less cynical and guarded time in our modern world. 20 years later, the contrast hits even harder. What have we done to ourselves?

I’d forgotten that the original show was only 1/2 hour long. I’d also forgotten how basic the games and showcases were. Later on they were so extravagant!

I was in high school. I had those pants and I had that same car 😂 my sister was also on. She got called down in the beginning but never made it on stage. We had a great laugh watching her bomb.

Wow, the guessing of the prices in the "true or false" was really hard-- the correct amount was only $15 different on (at least) one item. Luckily she made it and won a car!

It's fun to play along with vintage Price is Right episodes. Not only do you have to adjust for inflation, but also have to take into consideration the novelty of new, trendy technologies.........like Microwave ovens. CRAZY expensive in the early 1970s.

I lost the final showcase but I totally won that AMC Gremlin!!! (As a viewer, playing along) Who else plays along and keeps track of their winnings? I really should've been born a bit earlier because I win The Price Is Right quite often! 😃 Also, who else grew up with The Price Is Right every morning at 10 am and LOVED every minute of it? 😂 Good times.

I wonder if Becky’s quicky engagement worked out? If she did go on and get married in 73, next year in 2023, she would be married for 50 years. 😊😊

I can't believe this show is only 30 minutes. It felt like 90 when I was a kid. The only time you got to watch this is if you were sick and stayed at home from school.

They gave away a decent small car. Yeah,some people think that the Gremlin was ugly, but it didn’t burn oil at 20K and rust on the showroom floor (Vega) or blow up (Pinto).

Ahh memories. I was 8 when Price debuted. Loved Anitra Ford. Its shocking how well dressed the audience is.Men in suits.Women in dresses. Now a days everyone in in jeans and T shirts. And everyone jumps and screams and hops like they are on speed.
