He was 49 when this aired. Look at the average 49 year old man today. Greying, having knee or back problems, needing reading glasses, yet they still try to act or think young.

From what I've heard even in Canada, fast food the way it is today, was not as prevalent. Thinking back even to the 70s that I recall, this is probably a factor and true

Janice and Anitra sure looked smart and sophisticated. Even the contestants dressed super nice and everyone was lean and in good shape. Times have changed. And not for the better.

30:04 Interesting even in the late 1990s, they still offered this - I remember seeing it on the 1980s Let's Make a Deal. It was like $1,995 back then! This is the episode with the Underwater showcase! It is nice to finally see it after only seeing images of it in the past! Thank you for posting this!

JHC...$2683 for a brand new Chevrolet Vega! You could get a moped for that today. And Lynda got her bid on the catamaran exactly right but the $500 bonus was not a thing yet. 🚙 And the Eureka whisk hand-vac in the second game..."it evens grooms pets." What? Not many pets would let you use that contraption on them! And a submarine in the showcase? Giving away a deathtrap! 😂

The first contestant, Linda’s bid was right on the money but it was no big deal? I’m glad they changed that later to where you received cash from Bob if you guessed the exact retail price of an item up for bids.

There was no bonus back then for exactly guessing a price to get on stage. I was in the audience for a taping in the 1980's, and did see myself on TV when it aired. I didn't make it as a contestant. I doubt the episode will ever make it as a re-run on the Game Show Network. Nothing exciting happened that day. I remember every game played that day the contestants lost. I brought a lot of bad luck that day. :/

The Big Wheel debuted in November 1975 when the show expanded to one hour and had six contestants instead of three.

Bob Barker back then was the same age the average Generation X’er is today. He still looked and acts more mature than they do today despite the lack of grey hair. Yes, I know he used hair coloring until 1988.
