There was one problem with the Cash tempter in the early days - the person going for it could easily find out, through simple addition, whether they won the showcase or not when the cash was brought out. As such, when they started with the Super Showcases, they did not show the price of the car at the bottom, just to make it more interesting.

ahh i remember this series of episodes, these were the first ones they did the cash tempter in the showcase. think they did this for a couple of weeks before they started with the "super" showcases

Not the big budget Mega showcase but still far more interesting than the glamourised 30-minute ad for Big W the show became when they revamped it in 2012

There's a showcase of seven prizes (currently six in Australia now); the contestant who makes it to the Showcase round has to put the prizes in order of what they think is least expensive to most expensive. The most expensive prize (usually a car) is automatically placed at the bottom of the list.

Spot on... in fact, this was the first one with the cash tempter... remember watching it, and it took me very much by surprise! Nine decided to do 2 weeks of 30-minute, weekday editions of Eddie Everywhere [Who Wants to be a Millionaire] at 5:30pm, meaning TPIR was at 5pm, and then the Hour Editions with firstly the Super Showcase, kicked in from June 28. They then run the $500,000 Mega Showcase, before two months of Monster Showcases to end 04!

@@StFidjnr on Tuesday June 22nd 2004 a contestant named Georgia made it to the Showcase and was offered $2,000 which she accepted as it turned out Georgia would’ve win the Showcase which was worth $52,055.

At the beginning of the second segment, it usually shows a clip on the top left corner of Cozzie calling the next contestant to ‘Come on down!’

I described this game show (The Price Is Right) as the Dream Factory.

I can't believe they were stupid enough at first to reveal the car price when they introduced the cash buyouts. Once the second to last item is revealed it was mathematically clear that he won the showcase so there was no point of offering the cash at that point.

29:10 Why did nobody ever add up the totals? When they were deciding on an offer? Like at 29:51 the only decision would be Danielle or the showcase...I know which one I'd pick :D

I echo the comments of the TV Guru... would love to see more 03-05 eps, particularly the 2004 '$100,000 Super Showcase' Episodes!

This was Nine panicking to the runaway success of Deal or No Deal on Seven, with the first of a number of ultimately unsuccessful revamps in the timeslot. It wasn't until Hot Seat as late as 2009 onwards that they would snatch the timeslot back.

Why do they offer the money on the very last item at the showcase? I know it's a stressful situation but do they assume people can't do math?
@StFidjnr4 жыл бұрын
that's IF and there *IS* a big IF that he or she thinks two or more prizes out of place he or she takes the money and call off the whole showcase

Normally in the US version, the car in any number is usually placed as the top prize. I don't get why the car is placed as the second prize. I wonder why.
