OK, so what was the point of bidding so incrementally? If the first contestant thought the bedroom set was $1800, which he eventually did, why didn't he just say $1800 for his first bid?

When they have to bid above the highest bid it changes the strategy like happened with the bedroom set. The man that had stopped kept getting a larger gap to the next bid and won.

Obviously dogs wouldn't be given as prizes today. I enjoy seeing these original episodes of the Price is Right. Bill Cullen is prime as always.
