I love buying and playing with second hand clubs there are so many great gems to be found from the past that are such a joy to find and play and save money too

James - I was fit for and played the Ping Anser forged irons (newer release, ~ 2013, than the original Anser that you're playing in this vid) for at leas 6 years. They were the best irons I've ever played (maybe going from 18 to 6.5 index while playing them had something to do with it) - soft forged feeling, precise distance control, moderate sole width with great turf interaction; clicked all the boxes everyone talks about today before we talked about them. I paid $105 USD per club at the time. Unfortunately, I convinced myself that I needed to "upgrade" to the newest tech to "better" my game, went through 2 extremely expensive and horribly bad fittings (which were nothing but a sales exercise from the fitters - typical in the USA) and ended up with 2 very expensive sets of irons from two different OEMs who absolutely refused to work with me to get the irons straightened out (they were more than happy to sell me a complete set of new irons though) that I hated and could barely play with. Bit of advice - find clubs that work for you, that you love, stick with them, and let the 25 handicappers with too much money in their pockets try to buy their game through "better" technology every season (and take some of that money by playing pick-up matches with them on the course). :)

My Yes Callie putter a real bargain. 8 years ago won on eBay for £13 it’s had 2 new grips which has cost me 3 times more than the putter. Love it and won’t change. Pity spoilt video having a vardy clip

I HATE GOLF! Have you ever had days like this? To " I've really enjoyed this.. Well done James!. Your thought process with used clubs is spot on, I never buy clubs new due to their quick depreciation value.I currently have PXG gen1, gen 3, gen 5 0311 iron sets and paid between 3-4 hundred US for each set. I picked up a gen 5 driver with a Ventus shaft for $120 US. The value in the used club market is definitely there. I have each set In a different location so I never have to travel with clubs.

Fabulous edition James. As a US super fan of Clubs for Cash, this was an amazing episode, supporting intrinsic value over slick advertising and marketing. Bravo James!

I believe the first iron ping ever made were forged. They are very very rare. They were hand made from the 60's.

I really love these videos. It is impressive how you are able to play so well with different clubs. It just goes to show that a good swing and good fundamentals with allow you to play with just about anything. Also, I have the Yes! Tracy II putter and love it and you are correct, it cost me more than that one was priced. But it is left-handed so that might have played into it.

Yes the color of the kislux is beautiful and it is a great decision, maybe one day they will add feet and straps. It would be nice to have a bigger bag during the colder months when we have to store gloves, beanies, scarves, etc…

I’d agree on the Anser 2013. Peter Finch also put out a video about the best used clubs you could buy a couple of years back and listed them as well. I got a set pretty cheap and still play them once a month (along with the i25’s)

Still playing my TM R9 Tp with stiff KBS shafts from 2010, my Yes putter Ashley from 2008, my Cleveland Hi-bore 2-hybrid and 3-wood with stock Fujikura regular shafts. The only "new" edition is my gpx gen 5 Driver (2022 model), with a stiff shaft and replacable weights, which I've put a 2.5 gram weight in the heel & toe and 5 grams at the back, increasing my headspeed by 5mph, as well as optimum launch and spin (14 degrees and 2500 rpm respectively) and gaining about 20 yrds compared to my old driver.

The thing with GCFC is the trade in values they give is horrendous. Like they’ve probably given someone £80 for those ping irons and then sell them on for £279
@Golf-R00LS-732 ай бұрын
Completely agree...I've had some insultingly low quotes from them for shafts. I checked their website and they are selling the same shaft / adaptor combo for over 5 times the price they offer me. They are taking the pi$$ for sure. Their prices have sneaked up and they rarely give discount these days either. I find Replay Golf and Affordable Golf Clearance prices far more realistic and they regularly discount their listings.

Great video my Taylormade Stealth irons and woods bought April 2023 which cost me £ 2300 now worth £475 for the irons so £750 at best for the lot. So premium brands don’t hold their value better than the cheap brands.
@16pennynails2 ай бұрын
Nice looking Ping irons! That taylormade rac was made before 2010 so the grooves are suspects, lol, if anyone really cares. All the cool Ping irons came out after I quit playing in '07, for me it's the still in pga tour use S55's I want,, the Iblades are a close 2nd. I've seen those Yes! putters for sale at Play it Again sports here in the US, prices vary but super cheap compared to used Cameron's or other pricey brands/models....Absolutely would enjoy a full review on those Ping Anser irons!

Hello James. Enjoyed this content, as usual. With winter approaching in the North Hemisphere I think many of us could benefit from a series of golf/general fitness and flexibility routines over the “winter” months. Maybe you could team up with Gary, Chris and Liam/OMP, etc and each do one day a week resulting in a 4 days a week crossover series. I think most of us wait until the new season is upon us to get started and by that time it’s too late. I don’t see anyone doing this on KZbin and with all the touring pros emphasizing fitness, eating healthy and increasing flexibility maybe they could be guests. Probably a logistical nightmare and crazy idea. Keep doing what you do, it’s been a successful adventure that many of us love.🏌♂⛳👍

Those Irons were THE irons to get when they came out if you could afford them. They're still pretty darn nice. I had a set slightly used which I paid almost $900 for a year or so after they came out. Felt pretty darn nice, were pretty forgiving just not very long. If you can find good quality clubs like that in great shape for cheap, why spend over $1K for a set of new irons? Put your money in your wedges, putter and Driver.

Lovely putter...bargain imo. I agree if you are starting off in golf it's stupid to go and buy new big brands because you can easily spend £2500. As I've played for 45 years now i do have newer more expensive clubs that were fitted for me. That's the downside of used the fact they may not be the right spec for you but as a beginner there really aren't any clubs that will be the right spec for you. Some good clubs there fair prices but that putter was a beauty at that price.
