It's nice to see the human side, even though the Pharaoh is Moses' brother and had a 'cold heart', you can still feel that this hard-heartedness is part of his suffering, so we don't see him as 2-dimensional.

The bible actually full with literary masterpieces if you look at it in a non religiously way. Many great movies can be made about them. Cain and Abel is a metaphor for the conflict between the agricultural society and the sherped/nomadic society of that time. and many other stories have completely non-religious and meaningful meanings.

Ofra Haza was a famous singer from Israel who also had much popularity in Europe.She fused pop with the music of her Yemenite origins, creating a unique, yet addictive fusion never heard before. With this music's combination with her wonderful voice, she became legendary, enough so that she was chosen not only to be the voice of Yocheved in the Prince of Egypt in 17 languages, but also to have the character based on her own looks. Sadly, Ofra passed away in 2000 due to AIDS from her husband.

This movie is such a huge part of my childhood and heart. I may not believe and have the faith I had as a child, but this movie still brings me to tears. "I am the god of your ancestors, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob." That voice to me still makes me cry, and in my mind, that is god. Even if it is an actor in a studio. This is the god I was told loved me so much, and the god I wish so much I could feel again. Movies like this make me wish so much that he was real, as the kind, loving generous being I was brought up to believe, not the vengeful, awful, tyrant he's been found to be.

Survante, I don't know what kind of experiences you have had in life to make you believe that, but God IS that loving, kind and merciful being that you thought He was when you were young. This world has distorted your image of Him, but even so He's still there for you, waiting for you to turn back to Him, so that He can show you His wonders. It's not too late to go back to Him, He hasn't given up on you, because He loves you with a love that no human could begin to understand and his faithfulness to those who Trust in Him is from everlasting unto everlasting.

He is real, and He loves you- His child- with all of His heart. He honestly wants the best for you. Im genuinely confused why you say that God is vengeful, tyrannical, ect. Im not trying to preach or be churchy, but based off my experiences with God, and that I know His character from building a relationship with Him, your statement honestly makes no sense to me. God is the MOST loving person I've ever known. Why do you feel He's vengeful and awful?
@ayolovephat
@ayolovephat 3 жыл бұрын
I don't know what you've gone through in life but I appeal to you to not get it twisted : GOD IS NOT a vengeful tyrant. HE is a GOD of justice, judgement, righteousness and holiness as much as HE is a GOD of love, mercy, kindness and patience. We don't condemn judges who dispense appropriate, lawful judgements to people who have been found to have committed crimes, why should we expect GOD to be any less?

+TheVildee the way the depicted it yes, but who knows. The emotional dialogue between them and things they said definitely COULD have happened. But as always it's reading just a tad too much into it. It's not mainly about the story of the brothers it's about how God delivered his people

+Melonie Zappa See I would like to say that I am a Christian first of all. And second of all, you have to be very very ignorant to say that the emotion struggles the film focuses on did not or most likely did not happen. They grew up as brothers and as brother tend to do when they disown each other they DID go through heavy emotions DESPITE the bibles lack of saying so. I do not want or mean to insult you, I'm just saying that they MOST DEFINITELY did go through the struggles and emotions the movie focuses on

+Melonie Zappa Sorry to disappoint but it is likely that its not a true story. Beside the Bible we have no historical sources talking about a bunch of hebrew-slaves wandering away from Egypt. Seeing how the Egyptians where the most highly advanced culture of that time, we would probably have somebody writing about all of those plagues and the losing of a big part of the slavepopulation (Don't forget parting of the Sea, who wouldn't mention that?).

It's 2023, and The Prince of Egypt might still be the most awesome animated movie to be made to this day. I mean, how could you expect otherwise ? Val Kilmer, Ralph Fiennes, Sandra Bullock, Patrick Stewart, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jeff Goldblum delivering one of the best dialogues with astounding authenticity, while music, chorus and lyrics were orchestrated by a more-efficient-than-ever Hans Zimmer. On top of that, we're having Fiennes, Pfeiffer, and many others who worked their hardest to actually SING those songs, even though part of them didn't get any training beforehand. THIS, my friend, is how you create an actual masterpiece.

I've some issues with the Brave movie BUT, as a whole I thoroughly enjoyed it and quite honestly I would love to see another movie like Brave again. It's not very often you see a movie b/w a mother and daughter like with goofy and his son in their own movie together. We really need more movies like Brave that can tell the growth and courage of a female character. Though recently there' moana. I was really worried bout it but I'm glad they didn't overdo the overprotective dad and rebellious daughter thing. It's a nice surprise to see that its a movie about a hero AND a protagonist working together, its like the hero is letting the protag of the story to be the main hero, very interesting angle. What i absolutely loved in Brave is both the mystery and the relationship b/w mother and daughter, the struggle, tension, emotions, and the closure. Much better than Frozen which fails on so many levels since Disney is redefining love and romance and marriage/committed relationships.

Rewatching The Prince of Egypt after The Ten Commandments makes me appreciate even more, the craft and dedication behind this stunning animated film. Even the discrepancy between the brothers’ relationship is beautifully depicted in both works. Commandments have Moses and Ramses as bitter rivals since the beginning, whereas P.O.E. beautifully and not deceitfully lulls the audience into a sense of security and good-natured humor between the brothers. They become enemies only after the POE Moses discovers the truth about his upbringing. Commandments Moses is seen by Ramses as second-best, from the get-go

I do love Wicked very much, but this movie and it's music and songs are something truly special, this is proof that Schwartz can write just as well as Menken(whom I also adore to death) when he truly has the support system backing him up! Disney was unsupportive of him during this time in life in his life which is stupid and utterly cold hearted considering he had just written great lyrics for two of their previous movies...but you know...what we got was this masterpiece that was just as good, if not maybe a tad better than Disney ;)
