i find this so much more effective than the mariah carey and whitney houston version - dont get me wrong, they're amazingly talented but it feels so souless giving this song a pop sound to it. this is just so much more emotional because of the orchestral music, and the hebrew, and all the people joining in at the end. that's why i'll never like a cover of this song... its just one of those songs that cant be covered (though no disrespect to anyone who tries :P).

This song is so powerful, I cry every single time I hear it, because of the sheer truth it holds. God is amazing, as the song puts it that whole feeling you have, that resonates far into your soul when your faith is true and unshakable. The feeling that with every question you ask and search for God holds the answer to. I may no longer consider myself a Christian, however my faith is stronger than it ever was. Thank you God, for inspiring this song and the people who so gladly share it.

Who is like you, oh Lord, among the celestial Who is like you, majestic in holiness In your love, you lead the people you redeemed In your love, you lead the people you redeemed I will sing! A basic and more contextualised translation is "I will sing to the Lord for He has triumphed greatly I will sing to the Lord for He has triumphed greatly Who is like You, O Lord among the gods. Who is like You, glorious in holiness. In Your loving kindness and guidance You redeemed this people. In Your loving kindness and guidance You redeemed this people. I will sing, I will sing, I will sing..." Based on the Song of the Red Sea in Exodus ch 15

The part the children sing in hebrew is an excerpt from The song of the sea. It is possibly one of the oldest pieces parts of the torah as its is written in a archaic(older) mode of hebrew poetry than most other prayers. It is an important part in relgious services for not only judaism but also many christian sects though I think its most beautiful when sing in the orginal hebrew as it is during scharit services.

Many nights we prayed With no proof, anyone could hear In our hearts a hopeful song We barely understood Now, we are not afraid Although we know there's much to fear We were moving mountains Long before we knew we could, whoa, yes There can be miracles When you believe Though hope is frail, it's hard to kill Who knows what miracles you can achieve? When you believe, somehow you will You will when you believe Oh-oh-oh Mmm, yeah In this time of fear When prayer so often proves in vain Hope seems like the summer bird Too swiftly flown away Yet now I'm standing here My hearts so full, I can't explain Seeking faith and speakin' words I never thought I'd say There can be miracles When you believe (When you believe) Though hope is frail, it's hard to kill (Mmm) Who knows what miracles you can achieve? (You can achieve) When you believe, somehow you will You will when you believe They don't always happen when you ask And it's easy to give in to your fears But when you're blinded by your pain Can't see the way, get through the rain A small but still, resilient voice Says, help is very near, oh (Oh) There can be miracles (Miracles) When you believe (Boy, when you believe, yeah) Though hope is frail It's hard to kill (Hard to kill, oh, yeah) Who knows what miracles You can achieve (You can achieve, oh) When you believe somehow you will (Somehow, somehow, somehow) Now, you will (I know, I know, know) You will when you (When you) Believe You will when you (You will when you) Believe Just believe (Believe) Just believe You will when you Believe

I sang this song also in choir back in 6th grade. I never knew where the song came from until I saw this film. XD

My chorus sang for our concert we had a bunch of brass instruments and we sound really good. Put together with this song it was absolutely beautiful. I'm pretty sure everyone in the audience had goose bumps.

This song and the movie are so beautiful. I love the end of the song when it gets so cheery and it sounds like kids are singing it.
