@@jasong.5165 According to most sources, the five Twilight movies together made over $3.6 billion worldwide, with "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" generally considered the highest-grossing film in the series. Well, I have remained a devoted and loyal fan of Twilight all these years even before the movies. The books were better than the movies. I think the Twilight and Eclipse novels had some of the best dialogue between Edward and Bella and also the other characters as well that never made it into the film. Thanks to Twilight, ALOT of kids, teens and young adults and even fans in their 40s and on up were reading again thanks to Twilight. So I think a lot of positive things came out of Twilight to encourage people to read more in general. I think it sparked a lot of people to read more. I heard several teachers being thankful for books like Twilight that encouraged their kids to pick up a book and read more. But since your a hater, I guess this means you don't plan to watch the new Twilight tv show when it comes out around 2026. When they bring our beloved characters back to life, I guess that will be a very miserable time for you. Because the long devoted Twi-hearts have never forgotten and have continued to love these characters for many years now. But it's ok if your not a fan. But you can't ignore how huge Twilight was. I mean, fans camped out for days and days for these movies. I have never before witnessed such a huge fanbase before for any other movie consistently after each new movie came out. It just got bigger and bigger. Only Star Wars trilogy fans and Harry Potter fans I ran into and had to fight through the crowds shockee me as much as a Twilight fans did. And I'm a huge Star Wars fan. But I feel like Twilight got even more insane with its large fan base and it wasn't just the teenagers, Older women were also obsessed with the movie. It was a great time I do recall. ALOT of us even had Twilight parties back in the day that was a pretty big hit. Overall, I remember a lot of wonderful things from those days. If you bumped into a fellow Twilight fan, It's like you just clicked became instant friends for life. Twilight brought alot of people together. There was a lot of love and friendship for the movie and it's cast as well as the fans who befriended one another. So I will always look back during that time with fond memories. And I cannot wait for them to bring our beloved characters back in the TV show. But they are also going to make a TV show for Harry Potter so if you're into that you could check that out instead. I hope you have a blessed day.

Also, Cary had broken a couple of toes during filming (I believe it was off set), so he and Mandy would practice with Cary sitting in a chair, and they still got that good. The limping Wesley is doing in the fire swamp scenes is real (because of the broken toes).

Especially your praise about the big fencing scene and their dialogue. About that scene, Cary and Mandy had to practice so hard for it because it was meant to be "the greatest duel in history" or something like that. In between scenes their trainer would call them over to practice all the time. One cool thing that I didn't know, but learned from the book, was that in true fencing the non-sword hand is relaxed so they worked on perfecting even those details. Now when I see fencing in other movies I'm like, "Oh. Their non-sword hands are tensed, it's ruined for me." Lol!

The absolute STAR power in this movie is unreal! Wallace Shawn (TRex from Toy Story), Christopher Sarandon (Jack Skellington), Carey Elwes (Too many to list), Robin Wright Penn, Andre The Giant, Mandy Patankin (Criminal Minds), Billy Crystal, a young Fred Savage (The Wonder Years), The Legendary Peter Falk (Columbo) as the grandfather. I mean you can't fit more and then they did with Christopher Guest (Night at the Museum 2, This is Spinal Tap, Small Soldiers). I mean holy jeez! Such a GREAT ICONIC Movie!

I didn't see Monty Python until way later in life. However if you watch both, you can definitely see the inspiration. The just random odd comedy. Both are just perfect. Chef's kiss!

I grew up with this movie. My family still quotes it constantly. "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." I'm so glad you got to see this! Great reaction -- you immediately understood the appeal of this movie and how amazing all the parts of it are. I wish we had more swashbucklers where the opponents had honor in their dealings with each other. Jill Bearup has a great video about Inigo and Wesley's fencing, going through it from the perspective of someone who practices stage fighting.

Peter Falk (the grandpa) does the voice of one of the gangster sharks in the movie Sharks Tail. He also played Colombo... Lost an eye when he was in his teens/twenties.

Vizzini's intellect borders on the clairvoyant. When given all the information, he can *conceive* of every outcome and choose the best one. Wesley is a complete X factor. Vizzini knows nothing about him. So everything that Wesley is going to do is completely... *INCONCEIVABLE.*

I am so happy to see you react to this! It has been one of my favorite movies since it came out. I rewatch it at least once a year. I also quote it all the time. In my opinion, it can only be described as perfect...casting, dialogue, scenic, music....a rare gem. I work in theater, and years ago I worked on a show that starred Fred Savage (the grandson) every time he asked for anything, the whole crew responded with, "As you wish..."

Christopher Guest, the actor who played Count Rugen, was actually nervous and kind of intimidated because of how intense Mandy Patinkin was in that last duel. Earlier, when Count Rugen bonks Wesley in the head, they were having a hard time making it look good, so Cary Elwes told Guest to just go ahead and actually hit him with the hilt of the sword. Unfortunately, it actually knocked him out and he ended up with a concussion.

The word masterpiece gets thrown around a lot but The Princess Bride is one of the few movies, I think, that lives up to the term. So few movies are able to stand the test of time as well as this one.

12:30 yeah, the sword fighting was real, they practiced Fencing during the entire filming and filmed that last... then the flips and stuff were added by the directer to space out the awesome sword fighting and make the scene last longer. But yeah those are the actual actors doing it, not stunt doubles.

The fact that Bob Anderson was sword master on OG Star Wars and he did Vader's swordfights for Empire and Jedi. He was also sword master on LOTR, Pirates of the Carribean and Princess Bride... which means that Vader taught Inigo, Aragorn and Capt. Jack Sparrow how to sword fight

For the sword fight scene at the top of the Cliffs of Insanity Cary Ewles and Mandy Patinkin were given the choreographed fight sequence to rehearse. When they came back they were too quick and so the fight had to be elaborated to bring it up the the time that was wanted for the scene. These guys were really dedicated to these parts

Cary Elwes (Wesley) wrote a book about filming this movie. In it, he talks aboutAndre the Giant drinking during filming. According to Elwes, the famed wrestler preferred a concoction that consisted of 40 ounces of various liquors poured into a pitcher. Elwes said that Andre would drink several of these in a single sitting. "I’ve never tasted airplane fuel," Elwes said, "But I imagine it’s very close to what that must taste like. It’s very potent indeed, and I remember coughing a lot. But to him, it was like chugging water.” Elwes, Andre and their The Princess Bride co-star Mandy Patinkin drank together quite a bit and at the end of the shoot, Andre reportedly had a $40,000 bar tab at his hotel. Also, Elwes confirmed that the New York Police Department assigned a cop to follow Andre around when he was on a bender, lest he fall and crush a bar patron. Not that alcohol affected him much. In fact, according to Elwes, it didn’t affect him at all. "He didn’t flub a line or miss a day."
