Yes, it's cheesy. Yes, it's cliche. Yes, it's formulaic. And yes, it is by no means original. But you know what? It's still a great movie, especially around christmas time. Isn't The Parent Trap based on the German children's book Lottie and Lisa? The big difference between The Parent Trap/Lottie and Lisa and The Prince and the Pauper is that the kids in the former are actually twins separated when they were too young to remember, whereas in the latter (like in this movie) they have no apparent connection but just happen to look alike. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lottie_and_Lisa
