The entire series was one huge esoteric allegory….in fact, for anyone who has been seeking ‘truth’ (whatever that is, lol!) surely the very last episode makes it absolutely clear, even though they veil it with absurdity and peculiarity. I’ve been scrolling through some commentary/discussion videos, but that aspect of it seems to have gone completely over their heads. Does anyone know of any channels discussing the occult/esoteric side of the prisoner series? 😁👍🏻

A wonderful find - thank you for putting this interview online for posterity. Many actors and writers want to move away from their earlier work however, even though Patrick was always a reluctant interviewee (preferring his performances to speak for themselves), he was still interested in sharing his thoughts on The Prisoner.

So, my mum and dad let me stay up to watch the original series (they thought It was nonsense and was not good for me). Visited Port M last year, now ticked off my bucket list. As a 10yr old in mid 70's, this was my 1st viewing and had a vague idea he was in some trouble, got kidnapped and chose to fight 'it'. What 'it' was, I didn't have a clue, but all the strangeness of the island and the people there was compelling viewing. Still didn't learn too much more on 2nd and 3rd viewings of the series and never thought No.1 would be revealed! Just a brilliant way to write and make a series. In some ways makes it better than anything of that time, although there were some truly great series and films made back then too!

After the Prisoner he didn't really do anything else of note. Can we presume he upset too many people in high places with The Prisoner?
@TheOfficialMinistryOfTruth7 ай бұрын
I think after 64 or so Danger Man's and then 17 episodes of The Prisoner, he'd have been happy for the break. He had the fortune of then being able to pick his work, rather than needing work and his Columbo appearances and direction were notable. Plus 'The Hard Way' was an excellent film. (Scanners or Escape from Alcatraz weren't bad either) It's that old story of, when you've been at the top and presented a work of genius, where do you go from there? His daughter said he really 'was' Number 6 and had felt disjointed from the world from being a youngster. You're right as well of course, in that pissing off the Freemasons and 'establishment' corporations wouldn't have gone down too well.
@Gary-Seven-and-Isis-in-19687 ай бұрын
@@TheOfficialMinistryOfTruth I felt sad seeing him in Columbo, it was just so beneath him both as an actor and creative genius. Lou Grade wasn't someone known for giving money away, so I expect the money earned from DM and Prisoner was not going to last forever. One would expect Patrick to have written more allegorical works, but would have found it difficult to find financial backers. Sure, Hollywood acting jobs paid the bills, but hardly ground breaking.
