i just use my drop spreader for the vanity strip, broadcast on the main lawn. alot better than shooting it everywhere for me. that stress fert looks like it works well

Boil up a mixture of reaper or high capsaicin peppers and heavy spray it all along your sidewalk grass, mailbox etcs, dogs won't go near it. Monthly dose is key all year long and doesn't hurt the grass. Great grandfather taught me this back in the days

A “pro” company came out and put down some fertilizer to some of my neighbors’ houses. They service 2 houses down the street that are across from each other. It looks like they didn’t even stop dropping fertilizer going across the street after they finished the first house. There was more fertilizer in the street than in the people’s yard. Then they put their signs in both their yards. I need to put a “BYD” sign in my yard cause it’s twice as green and thicker than all my neighbors who get their yard serviced by the “pros”..... 😀

I use my Scott's edge guard mini. I also tend to use liquid fertilizer for that boulevard strip as well

Your yard is looking great! My father in law has those park strips in front of his house as well. He uses a soaker hose that actually sprays a little bit out, not just one with holes on two sides of it, and that seems to work well for him. It’s very concentrated to that strip and it waters deep. Something to look into. There’s tons of different lengths. He also uses a little orbit tractor 🚜 that rides the length of the hose you set it on and that too seems to work well for his lawn. Even in his tall fescue, it’s just chips along super slow. It’s pretty cool to watch.

Hey Mike, I'm originally from Akron OH, and we always called that strip of grass the devilstrip. I've lived in California for the last 30 years, and I only found out a few years ago that not everybody calls it that. I wonder how many times I've said that and people thought I was crazy. Apparently it's just an Akron thing.

I have the whirl. but my problem is what to use on the grass it is horrible any tips would be great, weak soil, easily to pull grass up weeds dry bald spots

First get a soil test, it will guide you as what to put down. Other than that I can only suggest you try my lawn care program.

Great video but you may want to start putting that sprinkler in your yard and let it broadcast onto the parking strip. I say this because all it takes is for someone to trip (or fake it) over that hose and then sue you.

Nothing wrong with that except drop spreader are not used as often. The 🤚🏾 hand held unit work best for me because they are so versatile. At a cost of only 20 bucks versus 70 for a good quality drop spreader, I’d use the hand held for those vanity areas and hard to reach spots plus it takes up way less space 👍🏾

I've had one the scotts handheld manual spreader for years, I got it from my dad I never knew what it was for. I thought my dad was just being cheap and not buying the large yard spreader. i use sometimes on the side of the house that needs extra attention.

Nice. Problem for me is, in my neighborhood people prefer to walk on the grass strip instead of the sidewalk. Plus everyone in my subdivision has dogs and their dogs always do their business on the grass stops. So my grass strip looks horrible. Smh

I use my Scott's rotary spreader with the edge guard on the right running along the street. Def keep the product off the street. I lay a cut cardboard box across the top of the spreader that hangs along the left side. It acts as another guard on the left. Go slow, reduce the spreader setting. And as BYD said, blow off the sidewalk. Especially if there is iron in the product - it will stain

My curb strip is burnt out or overheated again, even with irrigation, fungicide etc. Hoping it comes back. I may rein it this year and dig it out to see if there is an underlying issue with the soil (rocks etc?). I have a whirl but haven’t used on the strip, maybe give it a go. 😀

I've been doing preventive fungus treatments with Disease X and Propiconazole 14.3 but apparently this is something other. Trying to get it identified so I can use the correct treatment.
