The problem with most believers in Jesus Christ is that they simply do not study the Bible for themselves (reading ain't the same thing as studying) and are COMPLETELY ignorant of the original languages and historical/cultural context of the writing of the books of the Bible. The problem with unbelievers in Jesus Christ is that they cannot spiritually understand the Bible. God only reveals Himself to the soul that is receptive. (I'm talking about revelation beyond the simplicity of the gospel message).
@AdonaiZedek5 жыл бұрын
BS there is no spiritual understanding of the bible. First you have to look at Who what here when and how. You have to know who the author was and who was the author speaking to. it can be looked at from different perspectives but it is not spiritual. It just gives a perspectie of the text from another angel. I can give you 1000 contradictions in the bible. I can even prove Moses never existed. you dont find hi in Egyptian history in any type of way. The bible has unicorns and dragons family. it is not intended to be taken seriously.
@evidentone9teen2595 жыл бұрын
Yes, the original language, and the historical/cultural context, is very important to understand the scripture more completely & more correctly. And the folks who prefer KJV Bible, need to have an understanding of how the English language has changed over the last 400 years. For example: When the KJV Bible translation was produced, the word "Unicorn", didn't mean "A mythical horselike animal with a single horn growing from its forehead". 400 years ago, the word "Unicorn", meant "Rhinoceros". However, even the word "Rhino", doesn't fit the original Hebrew word. The original Hebrew word in question is "Reh-ame'/Re em" (Strong's Concordance 7214). It occurs 9 times in the Old Testament. The word means "Wild ox", and is not always used literally, but poetically. Most modern Bibles have that word translated as "Ox", or "Buffalo". We don't need to necessarily learn Hebrew & Greek. I use an Interlinear Bible, along with both a Hebrew & Greek Lexicon (all keyed & coded to Stong's Concordance numbers). Of coarse Vines Complete Expository Dictionary is always within my reach.

I think his question could be summarized as, "Frank you say you believe in the law of non-contradiction, how can you not have a definite position when it comes to Bible translations, seeing all the Bibles subsequent to the KJV contain so many renderings of passages in contradiction to it? Cannot only one be correct then according to the law of non-contradiction?". Additionally he stated his personal view that he trusted the KJV. And honestly, myself having spent many many hours comparing the arguments and evidence for both sides, must conclude likewise!! I am working on putting an article together where I document my conclusions. It's kind of ironic, because I'm not a "KJV-onlyist" in the strictist sense, those I've tried to reach out to such as Samuel Gipp label me a heretic and wont return my calls, and yet I maintain without a doubt that it's the most reliable, honest, and spirit-filled translation, so I end up the enemy of both camps, the KJV-onlyist, and those in favor of the translations birthed out of the COUNTER-REFORMATION!!! But the main thing is, as the Lord Jesus Christ stated, "Ye shall know them by their fruits", one only need look as far as the complete omissions of verses, the robbing of the deity of Christ from others, the new-age-ecumenical-spiritualism twist applied to yet others, to know that those translations not based on the majority extant manuscripts are, at best inferior, at worse deceptive!

Does the bible say that the earth is 6000 years old? 2. Is the sabbath a ceremonial law? 3. Is Matthew 24 about the destruction of the second temple and Jerusalem or about the end times? And why did Jesus say that say: ''Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath.'' (Matthew 24:20). Sabbatarians argue that Jesus mentioned the Sabbath in order that they might not sin and break the Sabbath which they believe that Christians are required to keep, is that true? 4. How can i feel more hungry to pray and thank God? 5. What is a lie? Do i sin if i say something that is wrong by accident or is it only a sin if i say something that i know is not true with the purpose of deceiving? Once again, i apologise for my bad english. Man has sinned and therefore deserves justice. In fact death for all of us is inevitable as we are all guilty. But those who understand that God also offers Mercy will fall on their knees and seek it. Man sins and his actions lead to death (deserved) and he will also hurt/kill other men (which those do not always deserve) . Grand Vianna, let me use a simple analogy. Suppose I write a letter and ask people to make 10 hand-written, word for word copies. Then we destroy the original. When we compare the copies, we find 9 of them a comma after a certain word. In the 10th copy the comma is missing in that place. Can we conclude the original had a comma in that place? Of course. Also, 9 copies spell a certain word correctly. The 10th has that word misspelled. Can we assume the original spelled it correctly? Of course. Using this "textual criticism" can we reconstruct the original? Can we trust it says what the original says? Of course. These are the kinds of errors (corruptions) that are typical. And this is why Frank says none of these errors affect a single doctrine of our faith. Even agnostic/atheist scholars (Bart Ehrman) agree. Now consider that there aren't 10 copies of the Bible. But tens of thousands. For those that disagree, it takes more faith to believe the Bible is unreliable. I dont have enough faith to be an atheist.

I facepalm every time I hear the argument about 1 Cor. 1.18, about the difference between "we are being saved" and "we are saved". First of all, in that point there is no textual variant: _all_ the manuscripts agree that the verbal form is σῳζομένοις, which translates to "for [us], who are being saved". The funny thing is that here the KJV isn't wrong either. If KJVO's bothered to study the language of the translation they worship, they would know that "to be" is a stative verb: as such, stative verbs could not, in "traditional English" (no, not only middle English, technically this is still a grammatical rule), have the gerundive form. So what the KJV is here saying is _precisely_ what the other editions based on the critical text are saying. A KJV English equivalent of the modern "we are saved" would have probably been "we have been saved", though this is just a possibility. One thing is sure, however: both the RT and the CT agree that the word is σῳζομένοις.

The one who asked king David to take the census was the devil. Take note that when God turns against someone, He gives you away to evil spirits, the devil immediately takes a stand to deceive. Remember that the Bible says God cannot be tempted nor does he tempt. So He gave David away to the devil to tempt him. That's why it says God's anger was against David and the other part says the devil rose against him. Understand?

ALL PROBLEM STARTS HERE →New Testament Scripture Founded : basically from 2 Major Line of Scripture, 1 is older date and 1 line is later date that being mainly use for interpretation & translation in the Bible we use today.. I guess most Preacher will say older is closer to Origin. Is it thats the only Faith we hv to put on what Preachers or Scholars said OR we should first compare those bible versions and find out ourselves in the beginning ?? Of couse if we dont hv this bothering us it doesnt matter anyway right, until we start to have unanswer questions right.. I start up in NIV when i became Christian few years back. But One Day i got few question sudden pop out in my head which i dont understand - Why there are so many denomination of Churches in the world ? - Why there are so many Bible versions & which one shoud i read ? But later on no one can truly answer me & i come to and read this verse MATTHEW 7:7-8 Thats the 1st time i Pray to God for my unanswer questions.. Below is from God's Lead, Amen to it. Is was never about King James the only True Bible or The Final Authority. Is was about the words in the bible itself that has been corrupted in not an accidental way but it was purposely done. A very Good Example of 2 bible Verse at ( ISAIAH 14:12 & REVELATION 22:16 ) and Pls check all other MODERN VERSION BIBLE and compare it with King James Version. Who is Morning Star ? Who is Satan name before he Sin & Fallen ? Read carefully thru most modern version bible in these 2 verses and if we still think there are so many bible version out there is actually for our easier understanding reading convenience, then i suppose we can just pray to God to lead us to his Truth. If we think maybe is just one simple mistake in the verse, it can be acceptable, but i really have to say NO, because is not just this verse. There are alot more verses that was already being corrupted , misleading, changed of doctrine meaning and missing of verses. But of course All Bibles have minor mistakes such as spelling, Upper lower case or miss out a letter etc.. so for this is not what it meant corrupted or wrong doctrine meaning.. In the Greek there are different tenses. The KJV translators didn't capture a lot of these tenses as effectively as today's translators. Being saved is more accurate to the older manuscripts than just saying saved. Also to point out if we are going to criticize the variations in the different text types we should look at the variations in the four gospels regardless of what translation we are reading.

I tend to agree, but unfortunately it creates a problem for the authority of revelation, which I'm trying to get a position on. How do you tell the difference between the truths and the errors, and how do you justify believing the bits you do think true ? I think there are answers to these questions, but they're complex, and certainly not as simple as many everyday evangelicals would grasp. We should also make a distinction between any one copy of the Bible and the original text, and also be aware that God is communicating through human beings. My line is that the spiritual doctrines communicated by the original text are infallible because that is the inspired element.

Anyone with a basic education in New Testament Greek can tell you that the KJV falls short plenty of times when it comes to literal translation. It actually ignores significant prepositions in places for the sake of sounding more poetic and majestic. This is why you can’t act like Elizabethan English can fully vouch for what was intended to be said in Koine Greek. Sorry KJV-only people

Seth Frazer exactly
@JOHNch4.v.v.7to106 жыл бұрын
So then, if an English speaking person cannot be 100% certain that any one bible that they hold in their hands is the pure word of God, then Jesus lied when He said, "...but my words shall not pass away." (Matt. 24:35). And God the Father also lied in Prov. 30:5-6, Psalm 12:6-7, 18:30, 1 Peter 1:24-25, etc. So, the question is this: Why would I believe in the "god of the bibles ", since he lies and can't even keep his promises about his own writings/words? THAT'S precisely why the KJV is the pure word of God in the English language, because the God Almighty DOES keep His promises and His word is pure and trustworthy! That makes Seth a liar who lies about the word of God.
@sethfrazer74046 жыл бұрын
Timothy Yakich You are arguing in circles! 1. Notice how you did not even attempt to debunk my initial argument, probably because you are clearly uneducated and don’t know what you’re talking about. The KJV ignores prepositions in certain places for the sake of sounding more poetic. That means it’s incredibly misleading theologically in several places. For God sake, Joseph Smith read a KJV with Apocrypha, and he plagiarized it to write the Book of Mormon (the name “Nephi” comes from 2 Maccabees 1:36) 2. I did not say God doesn’t keep His promise. His Word transcends all language, even the Greek and Hebrew it was written in. However, if we are to adequately apply His Word in English, then we have to adequately understand the Greek and Hebrew, since He chose to use these languages as the vessel for His Word, which requires more literal translations. And this is why the KJV is wrong. Because, again, Elizabethan English is very different from Koine Greek. Man’s fallibility does not mean God and Jesus lie. You are presupposing that a perfect translation in English exists, it doesn’t. This is why the Word transcends the language of the translator; the wisdom of the Lord can and does outshine any misapplication by members of the post-apostolic Church.
@JOHNch4.v.v.7to106 жыл бұрын
Seth, you keep saying that the KJV is wrong, yet you give no examples. Now, according to your argument you want me to believe that you're better qualified to determine what is wrong with the KJV than the 56 men that spent 7 years of their lives translating it. Not a chance. You're the one who doesn't understand that God created language - and yes languages do evolve - but the Holy Scriptures only had to be translated from three languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Koinai Greek) to English. You make it seem as though it's an impossible task. A task to tough for the translators. But not for you!! Now, you have it all figured out. So, since you're so well versed in all those languages, why don't you just translate the Bible correctly yourself?
@sethfrazer74046 жыл бұрын
Timothy Yakich You mean the Roman Catholics that presupposed church authority over authority of Scripture (Erasmus)? That gained a lot of their Theology in apocryphal books? Lol okay I’ll give you an example. “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.” John 15:7-8 KJV KJV says “abide.” The actual Greek word is μείνω which means “remain.” KJV says “in you” But the preposition εν surrounds μείνω in the dative case. That means εν is better translated as “by you.” KJV says, “ye shall ask what ye will.” But the Greek is not future indicative, it’s future passive. So it’s really just “ASK whatever you WISH” (θέλημα means “will,” But “θέλετε” is the word used.) KJV says “it shall be done unto you.” But the preposition επί which means “upon” or “unto” is nowhere there. The word γενήσεται is used, which mean “to come to.” It’s COMING, implying it’s already done, not doing or being done. KJV says “so shall ye be my disciples.” But the Greek says γένησθε, which in the case used implies a more of commandment as “BECOME My disciples” You have to really split hairs to see why the KJV is wrong.

But no matter the circumstances at the moment, something that was for sure interpreted was that someone shot someone and drove off in a car and that is all you need, to solve a murder for say.

R Lyle , salvation is scripture is : past, present and future. Salvation is all three. Not just the past when we given ourselves to God. But the Bible mostly speaks of future salvation. Feel free to glance and read. My point. Me being saved and the process of me being saved is similar in this one point. My salvation isn’t guaranteed but as Paul’s says: continue to run your race. As long as I continue to run the race as one of Gods children. Myself in the process of being saved and me being saved at that point in the race is the same. Hope that helps. Take care

I would offer the analogy of are saved vs. being saved, sanctification and justification accordingly: Justification is being right in the eyes of God through Jesus, sanctification the process of shedding sinful desires and maturing to be more Christlike. The person who is rescued on the lifeboat and heading towards shore is like someone being sanctified. They are already saved from drowning but not yet on land.

Salvation has a number of aspects to it. Yes, the believer is saved, that is salvation in the assigned-once-and-forever sense. But in the fact that a presently saved believer is not yet in a future resurrection body and in the physical presence of Christ, means that salvation is not yet complete (or "worked out"). 1st Peter clearly refers to a salvation to be revealed. The "working out" of salvation is God's work to complete, so that should (rightly) relieve any worries that man has anything to do with it, salvation is indeed God's work. To sum: salvation begins with that act where God declares the believer saved and will end with many wonderful additional things (such as adoption, inheritance, etc). that are not fully manifested on this present Earth.

Science textbooks change constantly over the years dude. They are always coming up with new explanations for crap, and making douches out of the ones who came before. The same kind of "improvements" science thinks it makes over time is the same improvements God's word can make over time. Maybe what He wanted us to know back then is not the same as what He wants us to know now. Because we are the ones who are changing. Constantly speaking differently as a culture. Hell, the language the original people spoke we don't even speak anymore, anywhere in the world. What's in the Bible is what it needs to have to get us to Him. It takes just as much faith to believe any book you read. The truth is in how the book bothers you so much. It says what's wrong inside you. If you have a problem with there being a Creator, who loves you, and died for you, to prove their is such a thing as love, then it's clear where you want to be. Cause he made you everything. And you were his everything. But you hated him anyways. That's the power of God's word, and why it's as important to know what's actually in the Bible, as it is to know how you think of Him and what He did for you.

How do you know that the Bible was not copied multiple times from the original? There are so many copies of manuscripts dated early that nobody knows if it might be the original. But let's just say none of those were original. Do direct copies from the original not have flaws, that is, scribal mistakes? Do originals themselves not have spelling errors, grammatical errors, or missing words as penned by the author? Show me an original manuscript from antiquity that is perfect just like that. Wait, there are no such originals in existence anywhere on this planet. In fact, almost nothing you own in today's world is original, unless you originally designed it and custom built it yourself. The original is the first complete prototype, and everything else is a copy of it, with modifications as time goes by. But if you owned copies made very close to the original release, you mean to tell me you can't tell what was likely the same as the original? You don't seem to realise how silly your argument actually is. Originals are great, but they are not absolutely necessary for textual preservation.

Thy 72eaper You know, thats an interesting question. I would be lying if I said I didn't have any desires. Everyone has wants and needs. So do I. But for the matter of eternal bliss in heaven... I'll pass, thank you. I have plenty of challenges in life. They make life interesting and worth living. Sure, not everything went the way I wanted to, but that's ok. I might still not get from life, what I would like to get from life, or achieve in life. After I die, that won't matter, not to me. So why would I repent, when I have no use for a reward for repenting? I working on achieving in life what I want to achieve, getting from life what I want. I might succede, I might not. Going to heaven or not, has no added value, as after my death, I won't enjoy my achievements in life or despair about the things I didn't achieve. There just isn't any added bonus. And even if we do all have an eternal soul. All my close relatives and friends are atheists. Those people I would want to see again, they're not going to be in heaven. I'll have a greater chance of seeing them, when I don't go to heaven, right?

There's also knowledge and taking notice of who wrote the thing down, who is it addressing, what are their current circumstances, at that time, if we can know, and who are they to God? These factors are important , quite often. A matter of verb tense? That can change meaning. But the translators of the KJV 1611 had to consider these factors to get the meaning right. They wanted to make an oh, so accurate rendering. At that time weren't some people different from others? So, Paul is addressing the Corinthians. He says either they are saved or being saved. At the end of the day, salvation was theirs, and the letter is to correct what they are doing since their visits from Paul. That's how I take that. If I'm like the Corinthians, my dispensational truth is different from another person who may not be. If I was another apostle, I could say I'm saved and chosen out of the world to do some things Jesus asked me to do. I witnessed first hand, His Resurrection. He sent me to follow in His footsteps. If I'm a Judaic person, I have a lifetime of adhering to mosaic law and may need to talk about it some more with say, Peter, or James, and see how it applies to me. Now that Christ has done His work, things have become different as it applies. But if I'm not able to yet understand what saved is, or I haven't heard Paul's .message from him, I could say I'm attentive to this and I am being saved as my intention. You know it's Christ's intention. The variant doesn't change that precept in it's meaning.

Matthew 13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: Matthew 13:25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. Matthew 13:26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. Matthew 13:27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? Matthew 13:28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? Matthew 13:29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Matthew 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. _Jesus sown the good seed. Right after the enemy came and sown the tares among the good seed._ _Good seed = the four Gospels; Matthew, Mark, Luke, & John._ _The tares were sown then after._ _Everyone knows Jesus came and sown the good seed. And everyone knows who came right after Jesus and sown much seed intermingled with what Jesus had sown._

@@KeepingWatch95 Jesus came to bring the good news to the poor, of the Jews. To find the apostles and disciple them, teach them, demonstrate for them, and send them out into the whole world. Die for the sin of mankind. I think the rest of the new testament is about all the things that needed to be said to the different people's they went out to. The whole picture of being freed from the mosaic law, being freed from the leaven of the pharisees, these things aren't in the lives of the gentiles. The good seed is planted, the old ways of Judaism are not a factor to the gentiles, personally. The Holy Spirit was poured out upon the apostles and disciples, and the world. We are taught to live by the Spirit after being saved and praying to receive the Spirit. Put to death, the fleshly ways. We need the teachings of the apostles in the new testament and the other disciples whose writings are canonized. (The tares emit poison when heated or boiled, they look quite like the wheat. The wheat is harvested and gathered. The tares are bundled and thrown in the fire). Are these writings ? or people that are likened to the tares and the wheat? (The field being the kingdom)

Our faith centers around Jesus and we already have proof for his crucifixion and his resurrection from the dead, so it doesn’t really matter these other contradictions because the same essential story elements. Even the extra stories in John and the missing stories in Mark don’t contradict other events, they just add to it. Even Mark it is said it is trying to recount a lot of miracles, so it’s not necessarily saying these other thing’s didn’t happen. Same can be said with the wedding at canna and the woman at the well

Some things don’t just add things though, they absolutely contradict each other. This becomes a problem when a lot of people claim that the entirety of the Bible is the infallible and completely accurate and perfect word of God, that contains no contradictions whatsoever. Making an argument that the Bible contains contradictions is often mistakenly perceived as an argument against its message as a whole. It contains contradictions, this isn’t even debatable, only why they exist should be debated.

There are too many people who are so self-righteous that they declare they are right and everyone else is wrong. I’ve been challenged by atheists about the veracity of the Bible. One pointed out, contradictions in the gospels about the day Jesus was crucified. That’s easily explainable by one writer, counting days from sunrise to sunrise and the other counting from sunset sunset. Another contradiction was in translation, where he pointed out that God said he created evil. But when I looked up in the study Bible, the word used could also be translated as tribulations and other things. I think it’s all a matter of bad people trying to say it interprets things to what they want it to mean.

@@b16streetburner not reaching, just thinking critically and open to correction when it is given. Not every bit of information is given on a silver platter for us to eat in regards to scripture (Proverbs 25:2). We must spend time to research and study what is given to us. John clarifies that Jesus was crucified before the High Sabbath day (John 19:31), which is different than the weekly sabbath day (Saturday). Therefore we can conclude that on the week of the crucifixion there were more than one sabbath day. Most Christians ignorantly believe Christ died on a friday because of tradition and/or faulty reasoning, but forget to do simple math backwards from Sunday. How else would mary have time to gather and prepare the spices?.. we must think deep and use the given text to connect the dots when it is not clear. We as believers on a whole are truly perishing because of lack of knowledge of the scriptures, this is prophecy unfolding. I dare not be one to be ignorant, but admittedly still lack much in knowledge of His amazing scriptures. Tradition can be a hard thing to overcome. Keep digging! Along with being able to translate greek into English....you can interpret HIGH sabbath however you like (i agree sabbath was and is observed by orthodox jews on Saturdays) your saying that sabbath day was more than what was written? More than Saturday? but it still doesn't matter. In Mark 15:25 crucifixion takes place at the third hour and Jesus' death at the ninth hour . However, in John 19:14 Jesus is still before Pilate at the sixth hour. And this is in all modern translations since you like to stick to them and this objectively verifiable. Fyi i appreciate the non refutation of judas falling headlong and buying or not buying the field with the money received for betraying jesus. I suggest you do what a new testament biblical scholar ( bart d. erhman) challenges Christians to do and write one gospel using all the gospels and not leave anything out to see if its not blatantly contradictory and to read the gospels side by side and not one after the other. Not a single person, scholar nor historian nor Christian can do this without altering timelines and texts in order to reconcile these discrepancies. At the end of the day we could do this going back and forth for a lifetime since Muslims, mormans and hindus all say their scriptures are without contradictions and offer apologetics as well. The fact remains that there's over a thousand different denominations of christianity that disagree with every point of doctrine which leaves your gods word as subjective and not objective therefore susceptible to fallible incorrectness of interpretation. So it logically follows that yahweh, jehovah, el, abah, allah, jesus, holy spirit is an inept fool not worthy of worship nor serious consideration.

@@coryanderson5210 because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day" (John 19:31), Jesus has to die before sunset-before the beginning of the Sabbath, when capital punishment was prohibited by Jewish law, as were decisions regarding criminal cases being made at night (Sanhedrin, Mishnah IV.1; cf. Deuteronomy 21:23, "His body shall not remain all night upon the tree"). In the synoptic accounts, Jesus does die on Passover, a Sabbath day. This is why John alone speaks of the legs of the two thieves being broken so that they not remain alive on the cross (cf. Cicero, Philippics, XIII.27, "it is quite impossible for him to die unless his legs are broken," a proverbial remark said of Titus Plancus, whose shifting political alliances allowed him to survive; for him, even though "They are broken, and still he lives"). Unable to lift themselves to breathe, suffocation would come all the more readily and death hastened-before the start of the Sabbath (and Passover) that evening, only hours later. The legs of Jesus no doubt would have been broken as well, had he not already died (as confirmed by the thrust of a spear), thus fulfilling God's command that "neither shall ye break a bone thereof" of the paschal lamb (Exodus 12:46, John 19:33-34).

In Revelation 22:18-19 God warns us that anyone who adds to the Bible will be cursed with terrible plagues, and anyone who takes away from the Bible will lose any place they couldve had in the Kingdom of God. This shows us that God means to preserve His word. If God is real, Then he would certainly have to power to preserve all of His word. But there is no proof that Any of the Christian Bibles have errors, and frankly I would feel bad for anyone who would try to change it.
