I rewatched those dreaded content cops out of due diligence and I have to say I'd even somewhat forgotton how explicitly Ian lays out his stance on the matter and how nuanced his position is. He makes it crystal clear that his issue is hypocrisy, he doesn't care about no-no words and thinks overreacting to them is dumb. HOWEVER, if you're going to use those words, especially in anger to insult others, don't present yourself like a do-gooder moralist. The fact that Ian is now the one lamely trying to reduce those videos to "saying slurs and harassing people" is pretty heartbreaking. I also think it shows he'd rather abandon his principles and start a war with his fans, who valued him for who he was, than confront his wife who hated everything about him.

The big problem here is that it's like he wasn't even present for his own videos. He _wasn't_ unnecessarily mean (except _maybe_ to the Fine Bros.). He didn't make fun of people's appearances, as a general rule; he only did it to Leafy because Leafy's particular shtick, at that time, was mocking the appearance of random children on TikTok's forerunners. He said The Word at Tana's meet-and-greet because she was telling him to kill himself while having said the word herself, in _actually_ racist contexts. "Asian Jake Paul" targeted a guy who who asked a rape victim if she liked it, then, to show that _wasn't_ a jackass move, made a video where she came over to his house and pole danced for him while he shot a money gun at her. If iDubbz can't see anymore that he picked targets that _needed_ to be targeted (and his largest ones were usually people with a lot of child viewers for whom they were modeling horrific behavior) and assailed only the relevant parts of their character, he's got larger moral issues going on. Frankly, if Content Cops aren't okay, that just means it's not okay to make large creators look into the mirror of their content, or to ever hold them accountable, even in the most responsible way humanly possible. Which would be, I suppose, a pretty serious moral failing, if true.

It's interesting what people make of this scenario. IDubbbz was a really creative guy who didn't have confidence in his ability. So he used shock humor. Destroying Bibles and Qurans. And of course the slurs. He never needed any of those crutches to make content that millions of people would have willingly watched. Then he started going out with a girl who was very openly negative towards his success. All this is literally out in the open from live streams. Toxic marriage and relationship. It always follows the same path, someone becomes resentful of their partner and tries to "fix" them. And most times they turn them into a worse version of themselves. And one day they wake up and look at their partner and realize that they hate themselves. This self-flagellation is not true growth. It is a futile attempt to placate something broken. We already have like literally the perfect scenario that somebody abandoned their past ideas of humor without destroying any value they might have had. Joji. In real life you have to take the good with the bad. In real life you have to be able to forgive people and understand the value that they hold. If you don't have people around you the comprehend that then it will be replaced by some weird twisted doctrine derived second hand.
@misc.glitchpodcastexcerpts6463 Жыл бұрын
It's also very interesting that the one time an idubbbz video crossed a social norm from shock comedy to harassment was Anisa's idea and she literally operated the camera. So this is projection plain and simple. I was curious so I watched some of anissa's past streams in literally she would do stuff like tell men how to hit on women at the gym. I'm sure if she had true introspection she would start to understand why she feels so strongly she needs to correct other people's behavior.

Apologies are more appropriate when directly made to individuals you've harmed, it doesn't need to be radio broadcast for the entire world to see, doing so is clearly just virtue signaling for your new woke points and pushing whatever new moral ideology you have into other peoples faces about what is good or bad.

Are y’all serious? Destiny is the main guy who’s like “if it’s said publicly then keep the conversation public.” Idubbz spent years making videos with harmful rhetoric. What good would it do if he just DM’d Tana, especially if he’s more upset at his behavior and rhetoric instead of the actual criticism? He prolly still thinks Tana is vapid and hypocritical. The issue is, he empowered a bunch of weirdos online to bully a barely formed adult (and prolly plenty of less famous women like her). The apology is to speak to his fans. To tel them “I’m not your guy anymore. And I don’t rock wit the stuff y’all do on the internet.” Even if most will call him a virtue signaling Cuck, just like he had that experience with the trans fan…maybe hearing that from the guy you looked up to will change some ppl who like him. Maybe there will be a few dozen LESS dudes online screaming the N-word and calling only fans women hoes. Is that not something?

1.Papa Gut had a good point where he said this apology would've been better if he did a content cop on himself. it probably would have gone better with his fanbase than the generic apology video. To them this video probably loos like him giving up to "cancel culture" even though I don't think anyone was clamoring for a iDubbz apology. 2. I've noticed a couple people saying that he should've just went the filthy frank/joji route by not adressing his videos and just making new content. I'm not that familiar with FF's videos but i'm pretty sure he wasn't making cases for why saying the N word is ok. 3. I hate how he kinda dances around why some people dislike him, he talks alot about content cop but people had problems with him saying the n word and making cases for its use. I think he's right about the bullying thing. It has been normalized too much to a point where people are ok with bullying someone if they think the other person is a monster and deserves it. And sure I can agree to some extent that some people deserve to be shamed and insulted. For example not many people would feel sorry for Logan Paul being bullied. However the problem is the bigotry. Because these days pretty much every conservative and liberal is considered evil by the far left, so that means in their mind it's ok to bully them, censor them, steal from them or even assault them. Same with "karens" aka white women. There's always an excuse, a reason why it's ok to make an exception for this and that person. That's the issue. And I hope guys like Charlie will mature and realize it sooner or later because I agree with idubbz that what Charlie does is sometimes evil. Just because I greatly disagree with Sneako on some topic doesn't mean Sneako deserves to be bullied. Same for MrGirl, Lav and even Fuentes. To me someone only deserves to be bullied if they themselves bully others or if they did something horrible / illegal.

to be honest idubbz is absolutely right about everything he says in this apology, it's very funny to watch and the context of someone just coming out and saying this shit in an apology video is what makes it so but it doesn't change the fact that you are responsible for your content, you do have influence over your viewers and profiteering off of kids by using humor which promotes harmful mentalities is well, bad. I think the reason this comes off as skeptical to some people is because he's actually being very honest, more honest than most people are with themselves. it’s interesting that destiny combines politics that are preoccupied with notions of tolerance, compassion, equity etc with a genuinely mean-spirited and apathetic personality. imo it often results in these kinds of facile conclusions of his where, even without having any substantive disagreements whatsoever, he takes issue with the remorseful tone, the apologetic nature, the appeasement of potentially alienated black or gay viewers.

Well, considering that he casually used slurs typically towards gay people and Black people I liked the fact that he specifically apologized to black people if he genuinely had regret in his heart. I don’t think it’s a big deal that he did that. I remember when I was a teenager I used a slur in a song I made towards gay people, and when I got older, I regretted it and I made a public apology for the offensive things I used to say. Nobody pressured me to do that. I just wanted to get it out there just in case anybody tries to use it against me because that’s not how I genuinely feel in my heart. No big deal.

So in other words you hurt people with your words and then you felt bad and so you apologized and those words made you feel better...it's almost like since no one asked for it it probably only mattered to you but at least you can move on and put that moment of homophobia behind u bless you heart
@mjay0019 Жыл бұрын
@@revanwitter8501 kinda, I guess in my head, I just thought that the apology would be more genuine if I apologize now without any pressure to do so because people can always hear the song later on and be offended by it and I just want them to know that that’s not how I feel today and I regret doing that in the past.

@@xbabu142x I'm judging his apology with the assumption he is being honest. I don't actually know though. I could be wrong. Technically we can't truly trust anything anyone says ever. Taking everything ive seen of him, how he speaks about his past even not long after the N word thing, how his actions have changed, i think it's likely he is being honest. He does seem embarrassed and ashamed by his past.
