This reminds me of a quote from my favorite movie: "The present is a little unsatisfying because life is a little unsatisfying." We are always chasing the future or the past for our happiness but happiness isn't in a time period, it's whenever we decide to live it. You can be just as happy sitting on the beaches of Costa Rica as sitting on your porch or at a park. Speaking as an avid traveler, new places are exciting and mind opening but they will not cure your unhappiness. You have to put in the work and open your heart to the potential happiness right in front of you every single day.

We've traveled a lot and your words "we miss actually being home," I agree with. Our house, holds all the things I love to do! It's still fun to see new places once in awhile but staycations are the best. Unplug, enjoy relaxing and all the activities home has to offer, is my motto. Thanks for your wonderful videos!

So true. People think we are weird staying at home over Christmas/ New Year, but we love it. Comfy chairs and bed and good food. You don't always get that travelling. We still like to get away, but it is much nicer, quieter, and cheaper other times of the year.

I actually obtained mine working a 9-5 as he said everyone is different and has different goals. You live a frugal life for 3-5 years you can STACK money, which I did and now am able to have my own business. Though you do not NEED to own a business or invest. Like he said everyone is different and has different goals, ways of getting there and etc.

That was an awesome video, I am glad you could share :) As someone who grew up in a large house and did lots of traveling with my parents. I have definitely learned that my idea of fun is not everyone’s idea of fun. My children, phusband and I all dislike traveling and are quite happy to sit and play a board game or build a puzzle. I would rather take out a kayak on nice calm water than go on a cruise or a larger boat (I get motion sick). When my hubby wants to fish, I am quite happy to sit with him and read a book. We don’t try to impress anyone, if something in our house doesn’t match, we don’t care, we hang things because we like them. If something is tattered, that is ok so long as it still works! I don’t care if I ever retire because I like my job. Even if I retired, I would still have to work, even gardening or mowing the lawn is “work” one just does not get “paid” to do it.

I am 63 years old, and I can definitely say that life is about the journey. I've traveled & lived (only in US so far though) in several places, married a few times, and many of my loved ones have now passed away, including a dearly loved spouse who died way too young - but he lived life on his own terms! Life hasn't been perfect, but I have had so many wonderful experiences, seen so many amazing things, loved so many special friends and loved ones! I now look forward to every day as it comes, and I've learned not to worry about the future. Enjoy your life!

So profound. I've had the same experience again and again, working towards something I thought that I wanted, only to find once I get there that it's actually not what I thought it would be and not what I wanted. People have judged me for moving onto something else once I realised that it's not for me, but life is too short for living someone else's life .

When you achieve your dream it is no longer a dream. For example, ever since I was young I wanted to go college more to prove myself I could do it and I did. I am still happy I got my degree and despite the hardships would not trade that experience for anything but it was kind of like well... that's done. I did feel extremely happy but I think, I thought I would feel this way forever or I should even be feeling a lot happier but that is not how things work.

I couldn’t agree more. I have learned this as well. I’m always thinking I would love to do this or that, and I do it, and it never as fulfilling as I “expected” it to be. Influencers make everything look amazing and fun, majority of them never tell you about the bad experiences as it could hinder their sponsorships. Same with whatever product they recommend. It is a mindset and we need to learn that it’s ok if we don’t like xyz. I dream of an adventurous life, but knowing me it would probably not be all that enjoyable for me, as I don’t like the unknown or being spontaneous. I love spontaneous people and live vicariously through them, but I am not at all spontaneous in my day to day life.

The dreams we are currently chasing are financial independence and traveling extensively with our six children while they are still living with us! Chasing those dreams requires sacrifice and planning but we are embracing the journey! Trying to be present as parents and soak up all the little pleasures in between the big trips. Local hikes, backyard play in perfect December weather, bike rides. There is beauty in all of it. I love your content - so rich and so helpful! Also… I have never had any desire to see Aruba or Costa Rica, but Western Europe has my heart! I hope you will love your European Adventures! We took six kids to France for 3 1/2 weeks last summer and it was honestly life changing. It filled up our souls so much! ❤️

Now, Im thrilled to have shared the flight credit with people who have a bigger tolerance for air travel. Ps: Baby Laura is so sweet and smiley! I thought that was you in the ad!

I gave up on my dreams when I realised the amount of obstacles stopping me from achieving my small goals, I often think of all the opportunities that i missed out on due to narcissistic parents, selfish partners, unsupportive fake friends and toxic workplaces, They all would say we want you to be happy and successful but then fight me whenever I I wanted to do or try something new and now I'm miserable and they wonder why Ive started dragging them down to be as miserable as me. Very interesting video - thank you. At 63 I’ve learned the best thing in life is the series of zigs and zags time offers. As you indicated one thing can lead to another and you fine tune what you enjoy most. The biggest potential pitfall I see from my generational eyes is the danger of comparison especially with orchestrated lifestyles. It’s a much bigger issue than what we experienced. Do what YOU love! I think dreams evolve as you do, but you may not realize it until you bring certain dreams to life. I do my best to live with an open mind and consistently evaluate the path I'm walking to see if any detours or new paths need to be created. For years, it has been pretty much the same, but tomorrow that may change, which is totally fine.

Ok but truthfully it was hard to pay attention to what you were saying because your baby is so dang cute!! Her little smile is just infectious! 😭🙈 But I understand completely what you’re saying. For years I thought I would be working in the book selling world for forever. My husband was climbing the ranks in the culinary world and working at some very impressive places in Chicago. But we were so burnt out, disconnected, and unfulfilled. Now I’m working part time at our church with the kids ministry and spend the rest of my week as a homemaker. I love it, I’m so happy and at peace. My husband left a very well paying position to work less, go to college, and pursue ministry as well. On paper it looks like we’re going backwards. But our marriage is stronger, we’re more inspired, and feel like we’re working towards more purposeful things. It may be someone else’s nightmare 😂 but we’re loving it

Oh boy, I relate. Last year I thought a month in a somewhat remote AirBnB in Vermont sounded fantastic. A month. More than several thousand $. It was a large cabin and run by a guy who runs sled dogs. I brought tons of books and my iPad. Doesn’t that sound amazing? The setting was gorgeous. My stay was awful. Mice in the cabin and I could hear them all night long in my bedroom. He put out cotton balls with peppermint; he said it would really cut into his overhead to do more. I could hear him drunkenly yelling at his dogs late into the night. His place was a few hundred yards away. The furniture was gross and crunchy with use. Overcrowded with furniture that was duct taped. The ad said there was Wi-Fi throughout the place but when there, they told you it was shared and to sign on only to get your email. I left after 2 nights and didn’t request a refund. I could only think of those hungry dogs and knew he’d already spent it. Yup….. that was a case of chasing a dream.

I used to want to be a musician, and I didn't succeed, but I got close enough to meet professional musicians and to see how much practice is required, and I realised it wasn't for me. I also wanted to be an artist, but drawing for others makes me stressed. I tried horticulture, and it was a step in the right direction. I have new dreams now: I want to finish my horticulture education, earn enough to not worry about going to a restaurant, travel a bit and maybe become a lab technician. I'm not sure about the last one, but I'll find out.

I believe that so many people are so caught up in the "now" moment that they are unable to truly identify what their dreams may be. Traveling is overwhelming and is like people who buy Toyotas and tell you they are the best cars, never break down, but they hide the real costs and pains just like any other car. Traveling is similar people make it out to be this big deal etc. but is a pain super stressful way to spend your time. I've been to many countries, had everything you can ask for and is not as big of a deal as people think it it. Notthing better than exploring your local places, get a good coffee or smoothie and read a real book, talk to strangers, plant some trees, pet a pet and live a simply as possible with the least amount of physical items you can own. I've been there done that - some of you will eventually figure it out.

Like the idea of exploration and not looking towards other people's dream and make them our own, unless ofc it's juts happens to be that we're similar in that sense. Ig this is where reflection comes in so we know what we want and what direction we're heading. Also direction in life can change and that's okay

3 quotes that stuck with me in this video: "Do not take your dream from something that you see other people do. You will never know your dream life is actually your dream life until you live it. The future never comes life is always now." "We always look to the future to kinda' save us from where we are right now but the future is imaginary, it's something that's in our head and if you can't enjoy the moment, you're not gonna' enjoy the future." "There are 2 kinds of people, one of them is happy one of them is miserable and it's all about mindset."

bro there is nothing wrong in taking a dream from somebody else. if we really feel like doing it and we love it then it’s really good to stick to that dream. At the end of the day it’s our choice what do we do in our life and if somebody wants to pursue their dreams then let them do it. people should enjoy what they want to enjoy

Any time I take time off work, my dream vacation is a "staycation." I don't leave the house (half the time I don't change out of my pajamas), and I read, or do crafts, or play video games, or even just sleep. When I say as much to other people, they either say one of two things. The first is, "That sounds boring and a waste of time." The second is, "Wow, I've never thought of that. That sounds really nice." There exists this social mindset that a vacation should be "busy," and it's so pervasive that even people who would enjoy that kind of relaxed staycation don't even consider it. Do what makes you feel satisfied and recharged, and understand that what works for you may not work for someone else. It's nothing personal - we're just wired differently, and that's okay.

It's not always mindset, it's also environment. That's why so many people say CBT - cognitive behaviour therapy - is gaslighting is because for a lot of us our experiences have been reduced, ignored, and belittled. CBT and "mindset" changes are used to further that angle just because they don't believe what we tell them. Who knew in my early to mid 30s I'd hit burnout so bad my body was basically destroyed, that I'd find out I'm autistic and then also ADHD. Who knew that why I had so much trouble was because my environment, an environment that suited so many others, was literally killing me and sucking any energy I had from me. Allll the coping mechanisms I'd developed, most unconsciously, ended up crumpling because you can't do that forever. Can't even find a job advertised that fits my needs.
