Overall, games are overly competitive and do not do enough community/fun events. Everything has to be a rat race, where we have to not have fun to be at the top. And for what?

From a french perspective : Dofus is highly competitive game and there's a saying among players that every player are jobless and play the game from morning to evening every day of the week so there's that. I can guarantee you that a lot of players on the beta will reach the 200 + the achievements required to unlock the last rewards. So there's that, I don't know about the way foreign players see Dofus and the time invested into it, but we do have some very high play time players. On another topic, the beta is pretty important for the future release of the game in (as of today) decembre with new servers to support all the changes that have been made the past years : removal of idols + reduced resources rewards from achievements (especially from dungeons' ones), which both had a massive impact on server economy and the way players farmed the game (some players used to recreate new characters to farm said achievements, which ended up having the achievements' resources locked behind once per account while still giving experience to newer characters). You could argue that the beta is a bit misleading in itself as it fakes itself as a new server opening which usually results in hype and increased playtime from players to rush the content & be the first in whatever objective they set themselves to, I'll give you that. But sadly it's probably a necessary evil, in an AnkamaLive last year they said that having betas before releasing patches or update was somewhat a bit useless as player didn't bother testing anything and just used the beta as an excuse to test new stuffs or just the spell/class they care about that was reworked. Also, I'd rather have an "useless" overly competitive beta (which is, by the way, only competitive because of player spirit, as Ankama clearly announced the deletion of everything after beta phase 1) that gives rewards to the most of tryharding players, if you do invest that much time into soon-to-be nothingness while helping the team clear out the remaining bugs before release, you should get rewarded. Let's keep it simple and : - No rewards : probably a hell lot less players and a few bugs that could sneak out into release - Rewards up to level Y : players would stop playing upon reaching level Y, or re-roll character or do something else and most likely not reach high levels while not exploring or discovering bugs in those areas (maybe some Y+50 lv. dungeon has issues that we would not catch) Giving rewards isn't in itself encouraging a competitive game as in the end it'll get wiped out, it's just a way to thank and congratulate the players reaching these tiers in my opinion. Also this beta phase is focused onto leveling up and making sure the starting areas work properly, once again, for the december launch. You'll get duty free and helping tools in the next beta, but giving that upon day one, it'll probably not help into testing the early areas. I believe you REALLY understimate the amount of time french players spend into the game on average. Some french stream (Pro-Team) does 24h+ long stream on startup barely sleeps and keeps farming. Also you're complaining about the trees but it most of is the same onto most servers and your experience might be even more degraded as beta servers might be functioning on over capacity or above average capacity from official servers at the moment given the hype from having your hands onto unity. In the end, your issue is probably a you-issue and your perception being warped about having to reach latest tier. What would you do to encourage players to test out the game from A to Z (okay, let's say realistically P instead of Z as players will probably not reach the very end content) ? Because that the goal of that beta, as announced. Legit concerns about the current slow animations and longer fights than dofus2 have been said several times already so we can just hope they make it better by december. Also you say that the game encourages you to fight mindlessly but they don't ? It is just the simplest and less investment required way to farm experience on a new server. But in no way does the 200 + achievements does encourage that in any way, if you can't reach that tier then it's a you-issue, with due respect. You've got a life, you can't afford, you're not the target audience of that reward tier.

its not a competitive game. people just use op things and get siphoned resources and then call themselves the best. no wonder the game never branched out to other audiences besides france.

Yeah.... i'm trying to give dofus a good go but getting 200 for the beta test cosmetics seems uber impossible. Furthest I went was lvl 80 after grinding my own set a few years ago so how am I supposed to do that lol

I could've done it but good thing I didn't. You could just get 3 level 200 professions which were 100% afk and made you kamas to get them. How dumb. They expected people to spend 10-12 hours everyday for a title, just to make a 10x faster route during the last 6 days, lmao.
