Altering clothes are not a bad idea. It’s creative and also good to see a clothing item be used for another purpose (upcycling). For instance, a pair of jeans into a skirt.

i've seen a lot of people saying loco's outfits are so much better, but i disagree. the colors scheme seems okay, but the style isn't. i personally don't like how they put together mismatching styles among the members. i mean this is pretty common e.g they do this with blackpink, but in itzy's case it just doesn't look good when they're standing next to each other. yeji's purple skirt doesn't go well with with her black top and jacket. yuna's black dress makes her look like she's promoting as a member of a different group. (honestly i could type more but ik nobody gaf anyways) but it needs to be said. and i hope those who saw this comment are aware that no hate is intended and these are solely opinions and perspectives, plus i'm not speaking from experience

Most of these complaints are so petty, the only 2 points I agree with are the use of reveiling clothes on Yuna and the bigger sized shoes on Ryujin. But a wrinkled skirt? Seriously? That could happen with anyone, maybe she was sitting and It wrinkled... Also whats wrong with repeating outfits? We should be praising this atitude, the world doesn't need anymore polution.

For ryujin’s white top, for those who don’t know is by a famous designer that’s famous among kpop idols. It’s very common in styling to use famous underwear from famous brands and use it as a part of the whole outfit. So in that case I think it was a conscious styling choice, or else the bra would have had straps and more support.

I have problem with stylists relying on safety shorts for female idols outfits these days. Like they must know that the skirt/dress/shorts is so short it will show the safety shorts throughout the entire performance or are they blind ??? Like I don’t remember seeing safety shorts all the time back in the older kpop generations but now it’s like there is always at least one member whose outfits are so short or slides up that their safety shorts are showing for the entire performance. Especially noticed this in a lot Twice and Itzy outfits… And if they know the safety shorts are going to show so much why don’t they at least match them with the rest of the outfit ??? On the other hand it’s good that more idols seems to get safety shorts with their outfits these days…
@bellashawol9951
@bellashawol9951 3 жыл бұрын
@2freeIvX I know it’s not underwear obvs. But that’s just it, it brings a lot of attention to it. It would look more seamless and not ruin the vibe if they at least color matched it. Like if they can spend hundreds of dollar on one outfit, they can get them more than one color of shorts. It’s just lazy looking. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@gigi9623
@gigi9623 3 жыл бұрын
My point exactly. The whole purpose of safety shorts is that they should be a repercussion if the outfit rides up. Ur never rlly supposed to see the safety shorts bc just like the name implies they are there to keep the idol safe if there is a wardrobe malfunction. I think it looks rlly tacky when you can see black safety shorts throughout the whole performance cause it just looks cheap. If an idol won’t be able to dance in an outfit without it riding up and their safety shorts showing then I feel like the outfit shouldn’t be worn at all tbh.

The reason why you're only seeing the safety shorts in the new generation is because the older gen female idols did not wear one at all. It wasn't widely strictly implemented before.. only by the agencies who actually treat their idols as humans and not just objects.

glad i found someone who actually sees the problem and doesn't gaslight the situation and blame it on other people. the company and their stylists are accountable for this, you can't control what fans think but you can definitely direct the way in which direction the image of your idols goes. it's unfortunately a very obvious pattern for jyp entertainment at this point (hyuna, suzy, tzuyu, yuna).

2) The worlds obsessed with saying “reuse, recycle, reduce” but feels it’s only applicable when necessary and, again, most likely when there’s an agenda. There’s a billions of instances of idols, celebs and high class reusing outfits…but let’s focus on idols because they’re not that low to wear an outfit twice? You beg for idols to be representatives of major movements, corporations and such but then turn around for idols to go against them. Beg for idols to be “idols” and lead by example but then turn around and explicitly state “not them, they’re rich so therefor it doesn’t apply” These people want idols to be relatable but then get mad because, like relatable people, they’re wearing clothes more than 3 times. That’s, again, such an incredibly petty thing to get mad at. Reusing clothes, in a new way or same or similar fashion, is good and sets a great example. It saves the company money, it presents a relatable image and also leads by example in the way of showing people wearing clothes more than once is necessary and absolutely a good thing for your wallet, our planet and leaves an impact on the companies to do better in ways of clothes that last longer. Regarding the size of shoes n all…no one knows the behind the scenes scenarios that happened that lead these idols to wearing clothes that are too big. There’s demand for change without even understanding what happened or caring. This isn’t mistreatment, for all the audience knows, it could have been a mix up, they could of always worn bigger sizes do to choice, or chose to wear bigger sizes for adjustment, or someone forgot the correct size and so on. This doesn’t happen all the time. It’s happened a couple and suggests a minor incident behind the scenes that needs to be addressed…not with the audience, but the company. The company is 100% aware of these “mistakes” There’s multiple incidents where companies have purposely allowed an idol to wear something for the sake of conversation that lead to getting free marketing for the group. Do you really think the company isn’t aware of the obvious clothes being too big? As for the wrinkled skirts…again, one time occurrence and easily explained as a mistake. Not the issue for the viewer as it’s not them wearing it and they know nothing of what’s going on behind the scenes and again…the company would hear about it internally. This isn’t mistreatment. Again, people take the word and twist it to fit something extremely minor that degrades actual mistreatment. This works knows these words without grasping the meaning of them which waters down the impact a word like that should have while someone mentions another person getting mistreated. It’s no longer an issue when seeing “victim” or “mistreatment” because it’s used so frequently in ways that make no sense at all. There’s legitimate issues going on and again these communities have nothing better to do than to point out their obsessive relationship over an idol and their unnecessary worry for an idol wearing something that’s “bad” When someone actually comes out with actual mistreatment it won’t be an issue because these are the things that make headlines, not actual mistreated people.

thank you for talking about yuna's case. it's honestly frustrating how most fans downplay the problem with some of her outfits. yuna is an underaged kpop idol who also has to perform in her outfits while getting photographed and recorded every second from every angle - you can't compare her who's getting dressed by adults with normal teens who choose their outfits themselves and what they want to share with the internet. no one can't control what the fans think but the least they should do is to protect the image of their young idol and not to lead it in a direction that isn't meant for teens like jype has been doing for years (hyuna, suzy, tzuyu, now yuna). edit: yuna's birthday : december 9th 2003 so current age 17 - since a lot of people are confused about her age in the comments.

The only one that would come close for me is the black dress she wore in Loco which definitely would have had a lot of cleavage expose action if she was bustier. you raised such a good question about the sexualization of minors in the kpop industry!! I think in part it is the companies’ fault for facilitating it and also the public’s fault for associating sexualization with minors in the first place.

honestly there aren't many outfits or styles that i think have really been bad for itzy. my only complaint is about inappropriate outfits. for lia, it's dresses that restrict her movement and/or are too short. for yuna, it's clothing that is not age appropriate. overall i usually like all of itzy's outfits. also of course ryujin needs shoes that fit.

There isnt anything wrong with reusing clothes. I hate the whole "wear it once, throw it away" thought. It's so wasteful and it probably costs a lot more to keep buying the shirts that basically look the same anyway. There also isnt any thing wrong with altercations or even upcycle old clothes to make new ones. I dont see anything wrong with it. Also the thing we need to remember is that Yuna is considered an adult in Korea XD Age works differently over there. We cant push american standards over to Korea. She isnt minor by korean law and that's all thst matters. So the clothes she is wearing wouldnt be considered inappropriate. Plus the clothes she is wearing. Isnt even that bad? I see alot of 17 year olds dress like this XD hell Even I did when I was that age. Shes basically an adult anyways , a couple of months dont really mean much.

It's a reoccurring theme in many groups to sexualize the maknae.. like Tzuyu and Jungkook. That's also the case with underage idols.. like jimin, Hyuna, etc.. The audience is mostly responsible because they're the ones making lewd comments? The companies should be really careful for the underage idols.. these things might cause them issues later in life.

I'm a big fan of itzy's wardrobe! of course their outfits are experimental - as are their songs. to me it just shows innovation and creativity.. not everyone is gonna like every outfit but most new things are weird to the majority at first anyway. where would we be if noone took risks like that? also the clothes do an amazing job at showcasing the persona of the individual members i think (for example Lia has the image of being more feminine and soft so she wears dresses and such a lot) but yeah bc of that Yuna gets pushed into that sexy image and Chaeryoung is often neglected when it comes to style consistency bc it feels like she gets what's leftover... I hope they'll work on these things but in total I think they're doing a fantastic job of keeping things interesting and fresh ☺️

Lol I think the wrinkles were from their car ride but oh well. A lot of this seems nitpicky, like Ryujin’s underwear repurposing was done by BP stylists too and they got praise for that creativity. The boldness of Itzy’s outfits is very much on brand so idg the complaints about it. I mean this is kpop we’re talking about. The land of the weird. But yes some outfits are just downright ugly, which is common in kpop but nonetheless a bad thing. However I DO completely agree with the concern and anger towards ill fitting shoes because that’s downright irresponsible. Yuna’s outfits do feel like they tend to oversexualize her. I get it she’s fabulous but these low necklines and tiny-ass tops are way too much. Crop tops are great but balance it with a high neckline JYPE…

Yeji's outfits are pretty awful too. And they tend to mess up her hairstyle a lot too. The outfits, in general, are pretty unflattering, the stylist might be experimenting, but Itzy's getting a reputation of having only bad outfits. We tend to not say anything because it might sound like hate while we are just fans voicing our concerns. We all know that the girls are so pretty a bad outfit can't ruin their visuals, but still. Swipe to me was really the last straw. Just look at Ryujin! What is that exactly she's wearing??? And in Loco, the cut vest of Yeji is pretty awful too, and Ryujin wears that red dress that looks like a nightgown... Big yikes! Lia's outfit for Wannabe too is a fiasco, it looks tight and uncomfortable, these girls are just too professional, that's why they manage to perform in all of these outfits, they are just incredible! For Yuna's part, I'm just sad and disgusted because I thought it was just me being overly protective because she is the maknae and a few months younger than me, but if you look closely, her outfits look nothing like the other girl's. They are pretty revealing or the themes are just not suitable, I wish for that to change, I really do.

Idk I think their stylist is just trying to create smth really experimental, creative and in a new way fashionable just like YG stylists do but they get praised for their job whereas ITZY's stylist just seem to throw everything in one pot and expect it to work smh. Btw JYP and controversial outfits of their young female idols is not anything new, not surprised at all but still mad😤

Tbh, I dont see a problem in idols re-using outfits, like clothes can be VERY expensive, so like for a typical comeback, you would need like at least 10 outfits, and companies like, dont have time to pick out clothing, nor the money too buy good quality clothes for the idols to wear, that's why companies tend to re-use clothing, I saw a video of how its like to be a stylist for kpop groups, and it is definitely not as good as "oh this is nice, I'll take that" no, they have to make sure they are in budget, make sure it will somehow match with the concept, make sure they have extra clothing in case the original one can't be worn, they have like at least 4 big suitcases for clothes, and about 2 more for accessories, and they all have to fit into those suitcases. The only problem I have with stylist, is how they give uncomfortable clothes to the idols, cause half of the time, those clothes are cut into pieces, like some dresses that are up to your legs, will be cut shorter, for like no reason, like I get that it will be trendy cause it's mini, but come on, why would you cut it like 5cm below the butt???

Yuna's birthday is on December 9th 2003, why do a lot of people say in the comments that she's not a minor anymore wth? She's currently 17 (and debuted with just 15) and even if she might be 19 in Korean age now, you still have to be 20 in Korean age to be an adult in South Korea. Just wondering like agree or disagree with her outfits but her age is a fact.

I think the part abt how in a group atleast one member is given the boring/shitty outfits. For example GHOST9's Lee Woojin, in one of their seoul preformances all of the members had their sweaters open so you could see their tie and had multicolored or writing on it his sweater was closed and a cyan blue making him blend in with the backup dancers who were wearing a slightly more blue shade. It didn't help that he had 3.9 seconds of lines that song and was on the side for one of his lines. He's always put in the back so you forget he's their during their songs. Another seoul preformance everyone had these shiney ass jackets some with green splatters or neon green shirt under and belts and chains while Woojin got a matte jacket that looked so awkward compared to theirs. Chaeryeong and Lia are the unpopular members I think they try and give the ones who they'll show off and promote the most the better outfits and try and hide the two they don't see will shine alot.

With yuna and her cloths it's not always on a company. Someone will always manage to sexualise someone else no matter what the person is wearing and I've experienced that, but doing it deliberately is the problem.
