The Problem with NECA

Made this on the spot with no script so forgive the ranty-ness but it had to be said.

2022 update: I have purchased one NECA figure over the couple years since making this video. The GMK Atomic Blast Godzilla figure. It’s pretty good and the paint is awesome. The only problem is that the ball joint for the tail is too big to fit in the socket making it a PAIN IN THE ASS to get in without the scalding hot water technique. This video still represents my thoughts but if I could remake it I would.

I feel like my dog alien's head can't go that much back as it legitimately feels like it may rip off as it gets pretty stiff midway through. So I just try to leave it in that awkward standing position despite the fact it's not supposed to be like that

Yeah I’m scared to move the heads of a lot of my xenomorphs too far. Sucks they couldn’t just use the AVP head mold because that has a ton of articulation.

I can't recall the years of the 3 I purchased, but they were a comic book Leonardo, (with the red bandana) a God of War 2 Kratos, and a Nightmare Before Christmas Jack Skellington all at different points in my life separated from each other. Beautiful displays for a few years. Every time I went to pose them, it was always a knee that snapped. It sucks to think that such amazing looking figures are so fragile.

I've stopped buying them now because those I took out of the packaging always had issues and to scared to take the others out incase of the same issues and they are harder to find in the UK and online I've been getting more of the Chinese versions than the originals

The AVP drone is from 2015/2016, I own that one along with Grid. They did release a requiem one back in 2008 though. The warrior mould is also outdated now, it’s from 2012-2016. Now they’ve fixed them with their ultimate releases. All your problems with the old Warriors were a big problem though, I had the same issues, thankfully they’ve fixed them with the newer figures. You’ve had some pretty rough luck with figures, I kept getting Aliens with a stiff joint and at least one wonky leg, wasn’t until the other day I got an Alien that was exactly as pictured on the packaging, the Ultimate Big Chap.

My Illidan from years ago broke out of nowhere recently. Picked him up, moved his leg a bit, and it snapped off. The joint they used to connect the legs was way too thin. I'll try my hand at fixing him eventually, but that shouldn't even be necessary.

Their products are literally classified as nondurable goods which include food. While most other toys like hasbros and Mattel's are durable goods. Neca has some issues, they even said that their toys wernt made to be taken out of the package.

Well that’s stupid. As I think anyone would hope that when buying something that’s just gonna sit on a shelf, it would at the very least not fall apart. I’ve had so many Neca figures break on me without doing anything.

It’s shame because neca truly makes some good molds, the issue is the freaking paint, like the way they paint their figures gets in the joints I recently got the big chap deluxe neca version and something I notice is that the paint tends to get it the way of hinge joints and you have be careful when warming up and slightly putting pressure on them

I have noticed little nics and nacks on my alien neca figures such as the aliens top rubber thing being on wrong or the rubber on the tails being ripped showing the metal wire on the tail which I had to fix with super glue and my alien rhino figure had like a thing on the back with a crack and the arm armor on both sides are different sizes and also the joints feel stiff,but I'm still satisfied with the figures even though they have mistakes as not every figure isn't perfect, but when you open a neca figure your getting a awesome looking figure but it's like opening up a mystery toy as that you dont know what action figure mistakes your going to get.

I just own one Neca and it's the Thermal Vision Xemorph which has the AvP bodytype. The only problem I have with the figure are the tight arms and the head tends to pop out a lot. I had to use a hairdryer to loosen the joints and try to fix the head. It worked for the head but sadly the arms become stiff after some time, worst is I can't even put the figure in hot water to loosen it because the glow in the dark paint will rub off.

as far as i know the head coming off the dog alien is an isolated issue, I've had a floppy head but not one that falls off

They were like that in the 90s, though. Remember the crash bandicoot figures? they would always break heads would pop off arms would snap, no matter what part it would be, they break with in five minutes even in the box an arm or head would break. they were really fragile figures. anything that's old you've got to be careful no matter if it's lose or inbox

i bought the evil dead 2 Ash Williams neca figure reissue and after 4 days the head and right arm were SO LOOSE

It would be good if you could confirm the figures that have issues are 100% authentic Neca to begin with. Do they all have the Neca stamp on their feet?

Yes. The predator has it printed on the bottom of the right foot. The Aliens Genocide figures both have it printed on their left feet (on the leg that broke off for the black one). And the dog alien’s feet are way too small to fit printing so I have no clue where they put it on that figure.

I don’t know, man…you might just have bad luck with figures or something. Been collecting NECA for ages now and I haven’t had a single problem with any figure since probably about…maybe 2014? It was the Hicks and Xenomorph 2 pack. The Xenomorph’s left leg broke off the second I took it out of the box. But overall for me, NECA’s quality control has been great. Still collecting to this day.

I got rid of all my Neca Aliens and a handful of predator, neca seems to put all of the money in to Horror figures, I don't really like call Slasher movies Horror because they don't seem like true horror if that makes any sense

NECA has bad QC issues i guess. i have the ultimate dog alien and its great, no loose joints whatsoever. i have the 3 predators from AVP and i only have an issue with scar. He is unable to bend his left elbow, tried heating and stuff but i think its glued stiff which sucks. And the alien queen is just majestic!

That's so weird, none of my Neca Aliens or Predators have any issues. But I've never used Ebay, I use Big Bad Toystore, or get them locally at Target maybe you're getting the ones that didn't pass QA from the factory resold by the Chinese? Or what most people mistakenly refer to as bootlegs.

I’ve gotten some from local stores, and some from private sellers on eBay. The predator shown in the video was from target. The dog alien was from eBay lol.

@@sirfijoe450 Oh dang, that sucks. I've got a battle damaged Ultimate City Hunter, and the 3 pack of Ripley, Lambert, and Giger Big Chap on preorder, hopefully my Neca luck will hold out. So far so good, and nobody else is making affordable Alien/Predator figures, so I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed and keep rolling that dice. Ultimate Dog Alien is actually another one I need. I'll let you know if mine sucked when it arrives.

I think ur jungle hunter might be bootleg. The waist is way to thin and the paint is miscolored. Plus mine is perfectly tight And the waist has a gap.

I only own a handful of NECA. Freddy, Jason (Lives), movie Ninja Turtles, my newest addition is King Kong... I also own from Alien the Ultimate Big Chap, Ultimate Big Chap 2020 convention exclusive, and from Predator I have the Ultimate City Hunter, 2020 convention exclusive City Demon, and Ultimate Jungle Hunter. I can't say much for your experiences, I have only started buying within the year. That being said, my Jungle Hunter so absolutely no loose joints or limbs as the one in your video. I'm shocked. Mine even sits better in it's waist. I'm not sure if it's luck of the draw, or a bad batch you bought, or what, but as far as Predator goes, I think you should have had it replaced. Jungle Hunter have been the hardest to find recently at Wal-Mart or Target... Tenucha Neca usually delivers good products as I have been buying for years however their quality control has been lacking in recent years. They do have good customer control though and they notoriously send new parts for broken figures. Just wish this stuff didn’t happen in the first place. Maybe I’m just unlucky lol.

I did have to replace my City Hunter since the right, clawed arm was backwards in package and the claws are under the hand with with elbow reversed making it impossible to reposition correctly. Allegedly I could rotate the gauntlet but it felt so stiff that I didn't think it would rotate. I replaced it with another City Hunter. I have no idea how to contact NECA. I bought a replacement spear for Jason on eBay because the one that came with mine won't stay together anymore after trying to fit it in his hands imgur.com/a/im0d22p

@@mksilver target doesn't sell bootleg neca figures neither does Walmart. I haven't had any issues with my neca figures. I can tell you for sure the new figures they put out for fathers day are awesome. Frankensteins monster. The thing figure. King kong. And much more.

I guess it's time to teach NECA a lesson. Listen to the consumers and don't abuse them. I swear they should get a class action law suit for this and twitter cancelation. If anyone going to do a cancelation use this #FixyourproblemsNECA. Please if you are using this tag don't do harassment or hate. That won't work at all. Instead use and show facts that they're action figures are really junk (Examples: Attaching videos of people showing that they break when open out of their boxes, Images or videos of thousand of people expressing their disappointment and tweets saying that they broke easily) and say that they would need to improve they're figures and other things in a kind manor.

Out of all the figures I have, very few (THANKFULLY JUST A FEW) figs have bad joints, like TERRIBLE joints. Only 2 have had broken parts but nothing I’d get too flustered over in the long run. But the fact that tons of people are getting the ones that have no quality control is just saddening. 3 queens, 6 warriors, 1 mantis, 1 razorclaw, 1 chrysalis, 1 arachnoid, 1 Rhino, 3 Robocops, 2 endoskeletons, 4 T-1000s, 3 T-800s, 1 ED-209, 1 Powerloader, 1 Drake, 1 Ripley, 2 Vasquez’, 1 Frost, 1 Windrix, 1 Cameron, 2 Freddy Kruegers, 6 Jason Voorhees’, 1 Rambo, 1 Terminator dog, 1 Apone, 1 Captain Blake (The Fog), 1 Ash, 1 Dutch, 1 Linn, 2 Gypsy Dangers, 1 Pinhead, 1 Super Shredder, and (get ready, it’s a lot) 15 Predators. That’s my collection right now excluding the 3 figs that are currently being shipped, and only 4 have any real problems like the joints. Thank God I’m that lucky

They were all purchased far apart from each other so it can’t be chalked up to one faulty batch. This QC issue is not exclusive to me as you can see from the comments here. This shit shouldn’t slide or else NECA will keep doing it.

The other option would be to contact their PR “team” (like one guy) on Twitter or other social media but that guy is a notorious douchebag who will argue with his own customers. Overall Neca doesn’t care or else these issues would have been solved in 2013. Want proof Neca doesn’t care that much? Instead of cracking down on QC they decided to label their products as “non durable goods”. Read the room.

I had the same problem with my NECA figure, I bought a Ultimate Predator Clan Leader and the waist had the same problem as your Ultimate Predator Jungle Hunter. They shouldn't release these figures with these problem.
