The casual rugby fans have the Six Nations. And they seem happy with that. But the Heineken Cup is (and always has been) for the more committed rugby fans who go to games week in, week out. The reason for the last 16 round is for money, lads. You can’t pretend that Covid didn’t happen. Rugby clubs need money (see Wasps and Worcester), and while that may have meant that for the last two years the group stages have been pants (thankfully they will be changing them back next season), the knock out rounds have produced some scintillating rugby. La Rochelle vs Saracens, and Exeter vs the Stormers should be brilliant this weekend. Lastly, it’s not Leinster’s fault that the other provinces have stood still, though Connacht are fighting the good fight in fairness.

All fair Gavin though I don't think we argued against any of those points. Having a last 16 might be for a good reason but it dilutes the tournament, and Leinster being in an inevitable march to the semi-finals at least, while the other provinces can't compete dilutes interest. Nobody saying it's Leinster's fault!

Wow you guys are like the lads watching appollo 15, Just another man on the moon, ho hum.... We have had the best year of irish Rugby in a long time and Thus far Leinster have been superb, Ill take that any day over the games i used to watch us lose Back in the 80's and 90's. hers to Leinster winning the European cup and the URC.

this has peeved me off more and more of late :why do football pundits always comment in the third perspective?......they always say you feel why don't they ever say "I feel" "i think" "i believe" etc. defensive psychology?, ie this will be everyones pov . "you would think" "you would of thought," "you feel" no it's THEIR point of view not everyones, so don't imply it is.......rant over cheers Football one game ONE name and no that's not enefel (NFL) handegg yanks..
