It's considered a bad idea to reveal a game early. Just ask Cyberpunk. Even TES6 being announced 4 years ago didn't make TES players any more content. But the main issue with revealing stuff early is how it risks ruining expectations as a game changes through its development. Imagine if GTA 4 announced prior to release you can explore all of Liberty State and not just Liberty City and then when the game came out, Rockstar explained that they had to change that plan due to limitations and deadlines. You'd all complain more about what was lost. By keeping details secret until close to release, players only expected Liberty City and thus weren't disappointed.

The vehicles cost an absurd amount of money, and most are useless. Buying a supercar is pointless, it provides no protection, and while it is fast it isnt gonna outrun a rocket.

Jokes aside, the reason Rockstar is releasing GTA V again is more a consequence of Rockstar's development approach. Rockstar now focuses essentially 80-90% of resources on one project at a time and are now able to spend extra years in just that. That's how they operated on RDR2. After V's first release, just about every single Rockstar studio and employee was assigned to work on RDR2. And now they're assigned onto GTA 6. But if everyone is working on a super detailed open world game that takes 8 years to make, it leaves little resources free for other projects. You can't release much new standalone content since that requires significant resources since players aren't gonna accept a budget game (look at how players responded to the Prince of Persia remake. Instead of being thrilled they're getting litterally anything after 11 years, players turned against the game because its graphics weren't current enough). And GTA Online is the only source of ongoing revenue Rockstar has that let's them pay the bills so much that they actually can take as long as they want instead of having tight deadlines (look at all the cut content of past GTA games). So it a surprise they are re-releasing something they've already made which let's them spend more time on projects they want? I'd argue this is a blessing in disguise since you get games that have more time and resources put into them than they would have gotten otherwise. Yeah, they take years longer but it's not like there's a shortage of games to play in the meantime

It’s part of the map! What are you talking about? The city tries to creat as immersive and realistic experience as possible and I think that unfinished building is a great feature that, let’s face it, most other games wouldn’t have included. That’s why I love rockstar. Because of their extraordinary attention to detail in every part of their games.

This will be the Downfall for Gta. People will eventually lose interest and move on from the game franchise altogether. With nobody advertising their game they will eventually go out of business. This is why Games like Golden eye sequels will die when it releases because they waited too long in the ever changing gaming market. Even Games like The means greens plastic warfare which was based on Sarge heroes for the N64 died despite these games being very popular.

You forget that both companies put their resources into other games right? Bethesda released Fallout 4 and is now working on Starfield. Releasing Skyrim isn't a crime when that's really all you can release in between such large projects. Same for Rockstar. When your games take 8 years to make and require most of your resources, a re-release of your older game is the only thing that can be released without taking too much resources from other projects

The power is actually in the player's hands. They just refuse to exercise that power. If people stopped buying shark cards, there would be motivation for Rockstar to issue a new release to stimulate more earnings. The thing that still bothers me is that the GTA community has made changes to company decisions. When the fiasco of Take Two deciding to prohibit private servers occurred, people fought back. They stood up against the very obvious act of corporate greed (forcing people on to official servers). They might be an enormous company, but once they see enough of the community start to take action and potentially take away future revenue, they start to reconsider their decisions. A new game could be incredible, as long as they don’t massively screw up compatibility/playability with last gen consoles like Cyberpunk 2077, they’d line their pockets quite nicely. The issue they’re facing is greater than that though, I believe they can make a game work without an issue. The longer they wait, the more interest for a new game fades. They fade into irrelevance and their image is tarnished with people tearing apart how they appear to be milking a cow to death.

A very good friend of mine bought it for me in 2016, played it for about 3 years on Social Club until another friend bought it for me on Steam, also never bought any Shark Card. No. The game failed on itself and its fanbase overhyping it, not on comparsion to GTA. From beating the story to doing heists and making money with people who became my friends it was so much fun especially since I was and still am an introvert. Seems to always work, and although there is the rare occasion where a person may wind up in your session, in my experience they always seem to leave me alone and do their own thing, so my guess is that they also probably set their MTU to 800 for the exact same reason: to avoid griefers.

I do feel the need to defend Rocstar in only a single way. Remember all the companies that said they had a 10-year road map for content and support for their games, but after a year and a half, they announced that there was a sequel, and all other content was either dropped, or just adapted into that new game, meaning all support for the first game was dropped after just 2 years, 10-year road map be damned? Rockstar NEVER announced any such road map, and yet here we are, 7 years later, still getting new content, still getting updates, still getting periodic ban waves against malicious modders and cheaters. 3 more years, and Rockstar will have done what so many other companies have only said they'd do, and without having even said they'd do it.

Eh...they're already much worse than EA. At least EA isn't generally just re-releasing a single game on every new console that releases. Yes, EA has done remasters (Burnout Paradise, for example, and now Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2010), but they're also still releasing new titles as well. Need For Speed also shows a further superiority over Rockstar. This pandemic has basically forced the developers (which are now Criterion, instead of Ghost) to end post-release support for NFS Heat. But, when they did, you know what they did for the fans? They gave Heat crossplay on XB1, PS4, and PC, and confirmed that they're moving into development of the next title in the series, even showing a tech demo showing what can be expected of that next title, visually. They're not gonna re-release Heat for the XSX and PS5, they're developing a new title. And, Rockstar has never even considered giving ANY versions of GTA V crossplay. So, while EA has done some less than respectable things, they're showing signs of improvement, while Rockstar just keeps digging themselves a bigger hole when it comes to their fans, all in the name of greed.

That's not a good point or a good criticism. That's entitlement. It isn't a crime to support a game for over 7 years. Minecraft has been active since 2011 and nobody is pestering Mojang to make Minecraft 2 because they update Minecraft 1 to have new features. Warfame has been supported by Digitial Extremes since 2012. Nobody demands they make Warframe 2 because they update Warframe 1 with new content. Hell, Destiny 2 suffered at launch because it was cut off from the content of Destiny 1. So why is it bad for GTA V specifically? Could it be that perhaps people like the game and the added detail customers demand necessitate longer and longer development times for sequels? There is a lot to criticize Rockstar for. The overly grindy nature of online, the microtransactions, the crunch of their games, their poor game design etc. But to demand they are bad for not pumping out more games or god forbid, support one game is childish and entitled. To give an example, I could say that Dark Space could improve his transitions on his KZbin Videos. That's reasonable criticism. But demanding he make videos on Pokemon or whatever, that's entitlement.
