I used to go to a school in the Philippines. The people were nice, no vaping, people respected other people and teachers, class clowns who are actually funny and learning something useful. It was a pretty poor school but everyday was fun. Then, I had to move to another country and when I started school there, I saw kids talking over teachers, everyone vaping, fighting, teachers who swore at kids, etc. I was really shocked because I thought it would be better here, I felt drained each week after school since I failed to find any people who were sane, no friends either. I was absolutely flabbergasted at how these people didn't even know how to MULTIPLY in 9th grade and how a girl asked me how to spell Mcdonald's I'm serious.

As a Filipino that just moved to the United States, I agree with you mate. Im a grade 11th student and my 2 years in an American High School is terrible. There are a bunch of students talking to each other during class hours, disrespecting our teacher during the 6th period, can't even put their phones into their pockets, and students vaping in the restroom. You can't even take a piss in peace without anyone vaping inside the restroom. Even worse, most of the student's grade level in mathematics and reading are at grade 4 or below that..... Im not kidding. Our teacher even said our grade levels out loud. And their lunch food... Ugh 🤢. It's looks disgusting and the food they serve doesn't even taste good. My total experience on an America School: 4/10.

The kids just get worse year on year and that causes the teachers to get stricter and more tired. Half the teachers at my old middle school left last year because it was just getting to be too much, and now the freshmen at my high school are causing shit and tearing up bathrooms and making things miserable. I applaud teachers just for being able to work like this, and I have infinite respect for those godly few who can keep a class under control without much effort and unlimited patience.

I'll repeat what I said a while ago: it's the parents job the kid behaves, not the schools'. The school should be there to teach its curriculum and done. Bro when I was in school, nobody cared that there was multiple fistfights ongoing throught the day. Why? Cause you'll cause more damage if your judgement is wrong and you let the instigator walk free. Just let the problem sort itself out. Now if someone's getting battered dead, you intervene, but stop at that. Otherwise you end up with a bunch of entitled lil bastards who think they can do no wrong and they'll never be hurt, just like you have now. Instead get a army instructor to hold cqc classes for your gym class once a month, guaranteed you'll have way more respect among students, and a safer environment. Plus, you'd be giving vets something useful to do so it's nice.

When and if i have kids I would 100% homeschool my children for a number of reasons. 1. stress a. forcing kids to learn 7 subjects in 8 hours and then forcing them to nearly work a second shift is madness. (also I'm in college and I have WAY less stress than I had in high school and middle school) b. it's a major motivater to cheat 2. useless subjects/tools a. I will never get over this. My math teacher taught us how to calculate for gas. Why would I ever need this if my wallet knows it? 3. inspire an honest dialogue a. School killed any forms of honest questions. You'd be punished for not knowing for not raising your hand. b. I doubt the teacher ever says "why am I not getting to this student" no oftentimes they blame the student A few others would be how political it's become, School shootings, Pedo teachers, etc.

I miss my elementary school days, and part of my middle school years. But high school sucked. I graduated last year, and that’s probably a good thing. I’ve heard some concerning things about how schools are going now. - One girl who works at the same place as me still goes to school, and apparently there’s already been several fights. Hell, I witnessed a fight at a local Tim Hortons during lunch break. They broke a framed picture. Over a year later, it’s still gone. - In my grade 11 year, my biology teacher told the class she had to fail 12 students previous semester, out of a class that usually had 25-30 people. She sounded so happy at the end of the semester when she said everyone in this class passed. - A teacher barred students from getting off a bus after seeing vape smoke, but couldn’t discern who it came from. She asked who did it, and no one responded. I told them “No one’s going to come forward.” And she replied “Yeah… I know.” Eventually she just let everyone off because surely enough, no one came forward. - Teachers couldn’t monitor the interior of the washrooms, so they just waited outside to see if someone took a suspicious amount of time in there. I never used the washroom at school, but sometimes I’d go in to wash my hands. One time a kid in there said “Want me to lick your hands clean?” I just gave them a disappointed look before washing my hands and leaving without a word. These are only some of the things I saw. I was pretty depressed throughout high school, (I’m better now) but maybe that was worth it. Maybe being quiet and reserved makes you end up being mature enough to get serious when you need to, learn basic respect, and have a good sense of humility and self. Even if the journey is tough, and I wouldn’t want people to learn it that way like I did.

You know what’s funny? A teacher from my old high school RUINED MY GRADES because of the fact that they didn’t like me. This has been like this for years and is only getting worse with this newer generation. Edit: To provide more context, a teacher that I never really interacted with due to not actively working in their classes (which was P.E at the time), when I left, became the curriculum manager, meaning they had control over people's grades, etc. Because of this, they found me ignorant and annoying and as such, wanted me to suffer for it - So they put my "requirements and grades" so low that I was one of the lowest-graded students to leave the high school when I did leave. Before that, I was actually pretty high graded and the few years in sixth form after I left proved that point with me (finally) recovering from these suffering grades.

The reason why I cleaned them was because apparently some dudes thought it would be funny to throw the whole trashcan into one of the stalls. I felt so bad for our janitors that I walked up to one of them and asked them for gloves and cleaning equipment because I didn't want them to clean up the worst mess I saw in that bathroom. Note: this is mostly true. All homeschooling varies depending on lots of factors. I’d get homeschooled because 1. Not as much work 2. All the time you need to complete work 3. Not pushing “politically correct” agendas 4. No useless subjects 5. Does not have to be taught the same way as everyone else 6. No useless things to learn 7. Being able to customize what to learn 8. No confusing way of leaning 9. No weird, abusive or pedo people 10. No vapes or bad bathrooms 11. No fights 12. Home made meals 13. No opinionated learning 14. People with mental disorders or disabilities don’t get hurt in any way

I think what made less of the regular horse shit occur was these two things: We were allowed to hang out in the parking lot in our cars, and we were allowed to head into town for lunches during our lunch break (most people did unless if it was a day when some sort of popular meal was being served that was actually good.)Of course random shit did occur such as people camping out in the parking lot and for last day of school, some guy drove his dirt bike through the hall ways, the amount of vape smoke coming out of the restroom that you can't even see two inches in front of you, fires being set every now and then, etecetera. Suprisingly nothing really lewd occurred as is to my knowledge. Of course I have only been out of college for only like two years so something may have happened.

I stopped working with kids because they’ve become so toxic. I used to work in an elementary afterschool program. A group of 4th and 5th graders basically made a pact to bully and disrespect me. They called me names and refused to listen to my directions. Their disrespect took such a toll on me that I had to quit. My options for discipline were limited, and I wasn’t getting the support from my superiors that I needed (aside from my immediate supervisor, who was also limited in what she could do). These kids should have been kicked out of the afterschool program for their unacceptable behavior. When kids can bully an adult out of a job, you know things are bad. The sad thing is, I’m actually a pretty chill person. I was well-liked by the kids who respected me. And there were some things I would allow that others wouldn’t; for example, I used to allow my kids to sit on the steps in front of the stage in the gym/auditorium space where we often held activities.

It was the same way when I was in high school. There were tons of kids who just wanted to act up, and the work was not stimulating enough for my highly-intelligent mind. My high school GPA didn't reflect my actual intelligence; I almost failed, and I was also on the cusp of dropping out. I hated school, until I enrolled at my local community college. I earned my associate's degree with a 4.0 GPA, and then transferred to Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth where I earned my bachelor's degree magna cum laude, with a 3.8 GPA. I was self-motivated to succeed in college, but the environment was also a factor; people were there to learn. Since I was a commuter student at TCU, I didn't get to see the residential life side of things, where it wouldn't surprise me to see some of the antics I encountered in high school. Obviously the admissions process at TCU would have weeded out the kids who weren't serious, but even some of those who could clear that hurdle might still be prone to acting up, especially if they get into a toxic residential life and/or Greek life (fraternity/sorority) situation. TCU actually received money to provide alcohol-free programming to students, as an alternative to social activities involving alcohol; they used this money to bring in comedians and bands like Vanessa Bayer, Kenan Thompson, and Echosmith (fun fact: I got to meet all of them). Some might think this sounds frivolous, but would you rather go see someone from the SNL cast do a comedy show on campus or go drink at a local bar?

For what I heard the middle school I used to go to became such a disaster they had to close it down. Students smoking even infront of teachers, cafeteria got ruined atrocities going on the restroom. My comment might get deleted if I even begin listing the things that happen in there. Worse of all the school was almost brand new no older then 20 years. all it took was one generation of students to bring down the entire place.

I'm working at a school right now and I can confirm, this video is very accurate. I think the huge thing is that many adults just let this slide. At the very core, education starts when a kid knows the basics of what's right and what's wrong. I straight up told a kid the other day, "what the heck? Bro, why are you saying that, that's weird?" And they stop. The adults here are just as weird as the kids tbh, I get the feeling that they think they're better than others which is kind of a childish mindset. If I work with a kid, I try to motivate them to do what they want but as long as it's something positive, if they say something messed up, I call them out. It really feels like I have to parent these kids to just be cool and relaxed, this is absolutely sad. I will say that every kid has it in them, it's just these people keep putting them down and punish them the wrong way.

Back in 2012, I was halfway through first grade, everything was still somewhat normal, but my autistic ass got kicked out of school for being a menace to a strict math teacher. Again, everything was still normal, and I never really picked up any social habits from the kids around me who at the time where already starting to pick up the nasty habits that kids have now, I thank God everyday that I ended up being homeschooled wasn't sent to another school where I probably would have submitted to the absolute social trash that plagues schools today. Also word of advice, always bring your own food if you can and make absolutely sure no one knows about it, because someone will want to take it.
