The one that makes every word in a sentence start with the letter J with the only exceptions being words that start with vowels or specifically the word Gif. Implying the anomaly wants to further cause chaos by making people pronounce gif with a hard g sound and have no excuse for saying jif.

Scp fanatic here. Yes some SCP's are problematic but thats a small, small majority of them. There are some real gems like scp-4999, and then you have some funny SCP's like the -j series. The story's and the tales also vary depending on the cannon, for example the Chinese cannon focuses more on power scaling, and then you have the CB cannon where D-9341 basically becomes an SCP in the cannon ending. So it really depends on what you read.
@jakobofcincy

honestly I think most if not all the joke SCPs are actually supposed to be various archivists and researchers poking fun at each other and life in general, look at SCP-666-J aka Dr. Gerald's driving skills, he drives like a someone from KY on a 2' wide dirt road and enough meth to wake a corpse (I'm from KY sue me), or look at SCP-027-J aka Schrödinger's Remote, literally 2 researchers getting pissed at a "smart" TV having 2 remotes (why dumb TVs are basically no longer a thing is beyond me... I'm 20 and writing this on a gaming PC aka not some tech illiterate boomer) or SCP-885-J aka researcher jacob's inability to clean up after himself...

The Among Us SCP is actually pretty cool since the user behind that is Phthonus, the kinda forgotten Greek God of Suspicion (or envy? I kinda forgot). That's why in the SCP document, the IP addresses used by the entity lead to abandoned fields in Greece. And in one of the logs, it complained that they have been reduced to a single short Wikipedia article. In the end (at least on the document), it seemed like the phenomenon subsided and stopped all together, kinda mirroring how Among Us lost its popularity.

As someone thats been into the SCP genre for years it's interesting to see a relatively new point of view on this, I personally don't have any issues with how weird an article can be, as long as its well written, SCPs are basically just weird entities that can be literally anything, whether they're supposed to be creepy or not and a lot of obscure ones can be pretty funny I do think that the entire community basically devolved the more children got involved and sorta made it become a budget creepypasta throwdown, not blaming them or anything because thats basically what most horror media turns into, there's actually an SCP thats sorta a parody of that, 5776, an entity thats relatively not scary or strong at all but will alter anyone that speaks about it to say that its a terrifying and powerful entity Also theres a ton of content farm channels that covers SCPs being mostly mass-produced which goes hand in hand with the younger parts of the community That being said, theres a lot of well produced content like short films and readings that deserve a lot of love Also go play Containment Breach and Secret Lab

2:00: Even though it varies from person to person in terms of interpretation, the widely accepted acronym for the SCP Foundation is “Special Containment Procedures”, “Secure Contain Protect” being the moto of the Foundation highlighting the three main principles the they follow. 6:25 ironical a goated SCP, though, the whole point of the SCP is that it’s implied it’s a Greek god stuck in the game, judging by the conversation between 5167 and the players. 8:58 If you think SCP is all about “the horror genre”, you kinda missed the whole point of that an SCP is. An SCP has to be an anomalous object/entity/event that the Foundation has either contained for knows the existence of. Even if the og 4Chan post had horror elements, there are plenty of interesting SCPs that are not horror related (i.e. SCP 105, SCP 999). 9:24 If you’ve actually read that comment, it states the total opposite concept of which you’ve interpreted it as. The comment states that the older ones were more shitty and cliche compared to the newer ones, which became better overtime as the writers got more experienced and standards for official articles got higher. 9:27 this part doesn’t make to much sense regarding that the evidence provided (9:24) was misinterpreted. No matter how much the older community members say “series one was the best era of SCP” or “Series one was better than (insert series)”, the truth is that writing for SCP articles have gotten relatively better compared to the first few that were released. Not to say that there some quite shitty articles here and there but saying everything went downhill since 173 is just wrong. 10:32 Tbf, yeah, the pattern of making more op SCPs might be kinda be an overused idea but I wouldn’t say this is necessarily a problem, SCP 682 is immortal for god’s sake and people still love ‘em, 343 is (almost) literally God. It isn’t what we write that really matters, it’s how well we put our ideas to work that makes an SCP good or bad. Such as, you could have magic guy with sword, or magic guy with sword with fleshed out writing that makes it intriguing. 10:42 and I wouldn’t say we’re necessarily perusing that goal either. What you see as power scaling slop is what people genuinely enjoyed creating. 10:50 Tbf, we do have too many SCPs that could genuinely do that, but it’s not up to you to police what someone wants to write. It’s a community driven project with a large fan base, there will always be weirdos or subjectivity shitty/sloppy content in a community of this scale. 11:00 counterpoint: children are stupid, ik I was went I was about 5. 11:55 Again, sure the OG 4chan post had some horror elements, but SCP itself was ment to write about anything that is out of the ordinary, anomalous even, like a self writing typewriter or a rock that could cause a major flood on the other side of the Earth if touched by a person. 12:05 unrelated, but I advise you do no watch that, SCP Explained is a content farm, as you can tell by the more recent videos by them. Sorry if this comes out a bit harsh (not that you probably read comments anyways), but I just wanted to address some of the things you may have gotten wrong or misinterpreted in the video. As a member of the community, I have to say that sure, there some parts of the community that are weird, but it’s pointless discussing such as every community has some sort of bad side or degeneracy problem.

This video completely overlooks the actual articles people put out as "powerscaling slop" instead of what the narrative actually is. 10:36 - No matter how much you will try to debate this, this stuff is just not true, and never was, SCPs like 3812 that were created by DJKaktus, who DESPISES powerscaling, gets tossed around vsbattles chatrooms and people completely misunderstand what 3812 is even about, people say this kind of misinformation over and over again like it's an objective reality since they have no idea what is the process of being a member of the wiki or even making an SCP. First of all, you need to be 18, it used to be 15 but was raised to 18 through a 3 year process because a lot of younger folks started joining the site since it gained traction back in the early 2020s. And I'm not trying to defend the community as a whole, yes it had its downsides and there are genuinely bad entries there that may have been overlooked by the community, but saying the site turned into a powerscaling competition just shows you can't comprehend 2 lines of text without misinterpreting it as an "epic battle between gods".

I'd like to point out several inaccuracies in this video. 6:50 It's worth pointing out that 7052 is rather contentious in the community (just check the comments) and currently stands at somewhere around 60-70% upvoted. Granted, whether it's 51% upvoted or 99% upvoted it'll stay on the site just the same, but 7052 is by no means representative of the content on the wiki. 7:40 SCP-166 was rewritten several years ago to remove the creepiness. It is now an entirely different article. 8:34 "critique others' designs" This is a good thing because it filters out subpar works from appearing on the wiki. Without the critique and "gatekeeping" (as you mention later in the video) there would be more instances like the old SCP-166. 9:20 You misread the comment. The user there was not implying that the old 4chan horror writers are experienced. They were saying that they weren't amateurs because they did not even reach the skill level to be qualified as amateurs, not because they surpassed it. They later say that a large number of Series 1 SCPs (the first 1000 SCPs) are "rehashed cliches or simple and boring things that do things." They aren't claiming the old days are better -- they're claiming precisely the opposite. This is the consensus of the on-site community in the modern day as well -- that quality on the site has steadily improved over time. 10:02 No author in the community on the wiki is creating SCPs for the sake of making a "more powerful" SCP -- essentially all the works of writing on the site are made with the intent of creating an engaging story. I will concede that many users outside of the wiki engage in such behavior but the authors themselves do not. I will also add that most SCPs aren't world-ending disasters; those are just the ones that get the attention of said off-wiki users.
@jacktheuser-ck9qi
@jacktheuser-ck9qi Ай бұрын
As a somewhat regular SCP reader, I absolutely agree with you, a lot of SCPs are borderline questionable and feel like "interests" more than anything. Despite that, there are some absolutely beautifully written entries that are not even creepy, but rather dives into topics like mental issues and trauma, a good example of this is SCP-8000 "Seal of Approval" which is basically an SCP that helped a scientist realize he was indeed good enough and that he should be proud of himself, because said scientist had a low self-esteem. Certain entries like these make the SCP Fandom unique and interesting. Then you have the powerscalers who only write SCPs so they can one up each other, at this point we have so many god like SCPs capable of eating multiverses like it's breakfast that it isn't even interesting anymore. Whilst I know the SCP Universe is not realistic at all and that they are dealing with gods, ghosts and monsters, I don't like the fact that in some SCP Universes, the Foundation itself can basically get rid off their universe without even trying. But at the end of the day, the SCP Universe has no canon, you can make up your own canon, if you wanted to you could just have a headcanon that says SCPs don't exist and the Foundation is just scamming governments of their money by pretending there are anomalies and SCPs, it's all up to you and that's what makes the SCP Universe so special for me.

This feels like such a miss presentation. The amount of actually bad scps is actually so small compared to at least decent articles. Also things like over saturation, power scalers and other toxic members are a sad reality that all fandoms face, it isn’t specially bad in the SCP fandom. I think the fandom is more healthy than most, specially with how it removes most toxic parts more efficiently than I have seen other fandoms do. For example, the iconic character Dr. Bright was removed by most without issue once we found some horrible things about the creator. This whole video just feels like someone who got rejected by the SCP wiki and is now mega mad at it.

You’re blowing it out of proportion, imo. You cherry-picked a couple scps that you don’t like (the among us one is surprisingly good) and use those to represent the entirety of the wiki. The newer scps ARE good, people just don’t give them a chance cuz everyone loves the classics. Yes, some weird people write weird stories, but I’d argue things like 597 are not meant to be someone’s fantasy, but instead made to disgust you. It’s meant to make you uncomfortable in a way that’s not just gore. Yes it’s still weird, but that’s the point. Scps aren’t inherently horror, and they don’t need to be. Power-scaling isn’t something I care for, but if it’s fun for people to do, who cares? Just don’t read the articles, there’s a million others. People should be able to just write stories about anomalous stuff if they want to, have their own head cannon on what they like, and respect everyone’s opinions without saying the wiki is “bad now”. No ones stopping you from reading older stories you haven’t yet, I guarantee you haven’t read them all

A lot of what he said is outdated problems anyways, it's clear he hasn't read newer SCPs on the Wikibot and hasn't gotten the news that a lot of fetish SCPs are writing in a negative way, all the fetish ones written in the way he is saying, there authors were likely banned. Powerful SCPs are deemed powerful in their own canon where the Foundation doesn't have the resources to stop it and those SCPs can be written well like When Day Breaks.

Well, there comes a point where the intention of disgust just turns into straight up... I don't even know what to call it. The intention to evoke disgust and revolt is to make a story that's yes interesting and out of the norm, but not to be like you just walked into a certain extreme room which word starts with a B. The SCP Foundation was built on unsettling, thought-provoking horror that blended mystery and science fiction. In recent years though, some stories have shifted toward extreme, graphic content-especially involving sensual or abusive themes, that feels more exploitative than meaningful. Effective horror should unsettle in ways that serve the story, not rely on graphic extremes that alienate readers and undermine the SCP Wiki's integrity. I won't deny the continuation of good SCPs here and there within the wiki.

Sorry but your specific examples of SCPs just demonstrate a really poor understanding of what they're even about and kind of undermine your larger points here. 5:44 SCP-597 has done exactly what it's intended to do, gross you out. If you think it's fetish fuel, like almost anything can be fetish fuel. Even if we go back to the very beginning SCP-173 pisses everywhere and it has little to no bearing on the SCP itself. 6:18 SCP-5167 has almost nothing to actually do with Among Us, the main concept being espoused here is a supposedly really powerful God in mythology being pissed off at his existence amounting to a single paragraph in wikipedia, almost completely forgotten. 6:49 SCP-7052 is once again doing exactly what it intends to, it's meant to be a dumb ridiculous joke. The actual problem with this is that it isn't a -J, and that the final log isn't as funny as the rest of it. 7:35 SCP-166 just isn't this? You're talking about her original incarnation that was changed years ago but even then, she's not in her late twenties, her nickname was literally "teenage succubus". It's supposed to be a really sad SCP, the tragedy is that she hates sex but by her very nature she is forced to subside by it, while being a literal child, that's more disturbing than any spooky monster and it reflects out own society's terrible fetishization of youth in women. 10:31 SCP-3143 has basically nothing to do with power scaling, it's a format screw with a really interesting gimmick, this one I'm almost 90% sure you didn't even read before putting it in the video. Also your assertion that everything sexual _must_ be pornographic sort of comes across as you having a mite too much familiarity with pornography (like how do you read an SCP about getting magical powers from shoving spoons up your ass and go "this is definitely meant to be arousing") but I don't know you.

The Backrooms, and by a mile. Ever since it's conception, SCP was bound to get some levels of goofiness from time to time, seeing as how it started in 4chan and it's a community effort. The Backrooms, however, was made by a guy wishing to make a cool analog horror series about this endless labyrinth of despair where you either die of hunger/thirst or by insanity due to isolation. Then the internet comes along and starts to add " levels " and it goes completely downhill overnight. The point is, both were violated, but SCP at least had some time to grow into a mostly interesting, albeit sometimes weird, community with a very rich lore. Meanwhile, the Backrooms went apeshit in the spam of a couple of weeks

Bro did not cook with this one 😂😂😂 First off, most of the takes presented are simply invalid. SCP isn’t just “community-made” it literally is the community itself, it doesn’t exist without the people writing, it isn’t a brand. Listing three poorly written SCPs, which were created by different people across significant time gaps, doesn’t come close to representing the fandom with over 7,000 (actually, soon to be over 8,000 entries) More importantly, the video doesn’t address the actual problems within the SCP community, such as: Unjust bans and favoritism, where certain authors and individuals are prioritized based on their status and popularity Silencing concerns, particularly muting and endangering minors or victims who tried to speak out about serious issues. The unstable nature of the community as a whole caused by the 2018 pride month incident (that was a ride!) Instead of tackling these problems, the video spends several minutes focusing on… three random anomalies? and suggests SCP is “bad” because older writers were more experienced? Or that they were more unified? Although most of them didn’t even know each other? That doesn’t seem like a fair or constructive critique, it seems like salty nostalgia to me. Nah, but for real now. Every community has its downsides, scp has some HUGE ones it’s not like you didn’t have things to go over.

I agree with you on everything except for SCP-166, to which I just assume you have not read her full file. I understand that on a surface level, it is definitely weird that a normal human would need to ingest 1 millilitre of semen to survive. But that would be glossing over the fact, that she is figuratively a literal succubus. For one she prefers to stay naked becuase wearing clothes for prolonged periods will give her pressure ulcers, but will put on clothes if asked to. Two she requires 1 millilitre of semen to be ingested orally in order to survive, though she prefers to ingest it alongside regular human food to ease her discomfort. Three she has an anamolous effect on all men who sees her where they will go mad wishing to provide her said semen, to which she rejects using this method because she doesn't like it. Also have I mentioned she's a teenager, being described of being in between the ages of 16-18 giving her the nickname "Teenage Succubus"? As an orphan she was raised by a cloister of nuns away from all men and became a devout Catholic, till she was discovered by the SCP foundation. Now take that into consideration, and see how this was more than just an sexualisation of a teenager. Rather it is as confirmed by the author to be an allegory to the objectification of young girls specifically teenagers, to be these youthful and beautiful women. SCP-166 presents a dilemma where in a young woman a devout Catholic at that is forced to live with this "Unfortunate dietary requirement", and her anamolous powers which only serve to harm her and the men who see her. Which directly is in contrast to her Catholic beliefs as a woman, with emphasis on chastity. This caused the SCP fandom to basically riot. With those of the coomers missed the messaged, and immediately objectified her into said "Youthful and Beautiful Woman". Then the others who viewed it as overtly sexual, and explicit meaning to devalue women again missing the point of it being an allegory for said devaluation. In the end SCP-166 had a reboot that turned her into this weird Satyr antlers, hoofed feet, and love for nature all included. So her current depiction in this video is rather innacurate, but also misleading due to the lack of information presented which is fair given the massive topic that is SCP to tackle. Honestly I just hate her reboot, as it took away all the creative messaging the original story had. Also be advised that the information I have provided is all taken from memory, so don't be surprised if there are mistakes.

A personal issue I have with SCP is power scaling, and whenever its compared to any other piece of fiction. Sometimes, I feel like SCP writers and the community purposefully makes the fictitious organization, or the entities they create overpowered, or just completely over-over-overpowered for the sake of it. And to a certain point, one may ask how this all can exist and yet humanity is still on earth. ALSO: smaller nitpick, normalcy doesn't exist. The idea that the SCP Foundation protects humanity doesn't make any sense. Sure, from weird creatures and the sort, but with that being said if they actually wanted to secure humanity they would've used their resources to make all things right in the world and make the world a BETTER place, not just a """""NORMAL""""" place. Whatever that means.

There are Groups of Interests that benefit humanity already that the Foundation funds like Goldbakers for insurance and also Manna Charitable Foundation for using anomalies in secret to benefit poorer communities, UNGOC is basically the UN and they have multiple occults and even one that is the owner of Coke and Pepsi and have a charity called World Parahealth Health to help people in need using anomalies in secret, they also have entertain, SCP fans hate powerscaling, since powerful anomalies are only viewed as powerful by multiple alternate Foundations in a particular canon who may not have the means or struggle to stop it or just statements that say its powerful since the anomaly or a glazer of it says so, there is no canon, so powerful SCPs are viewed differently in alternate timelines,. Also SCP authors have said they hate powerscaling like the one who wrote SCP 3812 that SCP 3812 is only powerful in its own article and it doesn't affect other realities. The Foundation funds some factions called Groups of Interests to use anomalies in secret to benefit, so they do actually contribute in doing that, also the reason why the Earth is still standing is due to multiple articles are in their own canon and certain world ending SCPs may not exist in them or the Foundation there has enough resources to neutralize or contain those threats.
@tofboss8083
@tofboss8083 Ай бұрын
Also for reference of the overpowered anomalies, a lot of them are in alternate timelines in separate canons( sometimes those articles end with the world ending or getting reset ) since not all articles link to each other, the authors purposely make them powerful to mock powerscaling so they made a tier called metaphysics and narraitive stacks which is just plot manipulation that only applies to that article and to have them only to be as powerful as in there own article, there are also not many articles about world ending anomalies on the Wikibot, off site powerscalers are the ones who ruin SCP powerscaling since they composite the canon of the articles, which makes it unfair and inconsistent. Even SCP authors didn't want their anomalies to be powerscaled( instead people being entertained by the anomalous mystery of the history and power of the entity and how humanity can overcome or succumb to it) and asked the devs of VS Battle to remove SCP from it since they composited their anomalies and made tiers they aren't even up to.
@TheOneGalactic

I like the World Ending ones a lot, actually. However, I'm not a fan of it blatantly just being 'powerful SCP go burrrrrrr'. I like them in two categories. 1. You get to see the impact on the world and its people. The best example is obviously When Day Breaks. You explore a scenario that affects everything and everyone. You could write many stories about being in a world that ended due to an anomalous sun. 2. The world has not ended yet, but it could. Here you can make it a mystery. Maybe it can't even end the world or maybe it can. Is there a way to stop it? How do you prepare? I think it is a particularly interesting genre of horror to know time is running out. If you are going to write one of these, the story format is a great way to do this. Don't make this some typical document.

9:20 Blatant lie. As said by famous SCP writters from that time, most of them were edgy teeneagers trying to do just what the thought "was cool" Many SCPs were blatantly deleted at that era because lacking any quality at all, even creating the famous "decomissioned" class period, which was straight up public hall of shame of how bad your SCP was to the point it was destroyed in-lore and pinned in a list so other people wouldn't do what you did. Plus, i'll say, there are AMAZING SCP writters out there, can name a few like Rounderhouse with his 001's proposals. The guy that made SCP-5000. And even the people that worked on SCP-6500 aka the longest article right now. SCP just changed from focusing on horror to a more sci-fi theme in general. And none of that nullifies the amogus scp if you think that's bad search up SCP-6969 which is something related to beating your meat and temporal anomalies, some shit like that.

I actually dislike how the SCP games in the early days are just kinda a footnote in the video, as thats the big reason SCP got a lot more traction, at the time it was still quite a niche circle for its first few years and it changed quite a bit after 087 B and Containment Breach especially became known, they were the original catalyst that brought more and more writers to the site around the 2010s

To be completely real, most of these articles *are* well written or in 166's case, rewritten. SCP was never about horror necessarily. The community definitely has a VERY large divide between the off-site and on-site fans. And it's definitely held together by duct tape and a prayer sometimes. About the "powerscaling" issue, it's not necessarily as bad as people think. In fact, most SCP authors (including the ones behind more powerful anomalies) actually dislike the concept of powerscaling. An entire fandom wiki was requested to wipe SCP content off of there. It's a very niche community even though it got a lot of traction after the outbreak.

just a few things: * the majority of the "community" has never read an actual scp. it's all a slop of reused jokes and gags cause they can't find anything new. * the scp wiki is supposed to be 16+ with adult articles having clear 18+ warnings. this stuff is clearly not meant for kids but what can you do. * old scp stuff is generally very bad. new stuff isn't exempt but in general it is a step up in every regard. those who say new articles are terrible haven't read a new article. * scp has moved on from horror, it branches across every genre, it now prioritizes actually telling a good story over being spooky. * though quality is what it wants the current system is basically a popularity vote that can ve abused * shit like 597 and 166 (has been rewritten, thank fuck) are generally not seen nowadays. * scp has always had ties to other media due to its freeflow nature. these are scorned unless they're actually good storeytelling. among us scp falls in line with this (it has a sequel as well)

NO NO NO, SCP's are not meant to be creepy monsters, they are meant to be paranormal stuff, this misunderstandng is so prevalent that there is even scp nicknamed 'yet another murder monster' which kinda makes fun of this, and even in original series (scp's are divided in series 1000 each, first is scp's 1 to scp 999) there are just paranormal in some way things, like scp 113 stone that changes your gender, scp 999 cute orange tickle monster and scp 066 eric' toy. These 3 examples are quite silly, frankly not scary scp that are just classic scp's that many people know and love.
