My opinion is that, I am a straight man, and I do kind of like the anthropomorphic character stuff, I think it looks cool, especially as an artist and a 3D modeller. But as a straight white man, being a furry is like walking into a gay bar or a strip club. Everything is either extremely gay, or just extremely sexual for no reason. The only alternative is just genuine racism and nobody wants that to be honest. The internet is a place of extremes, being a centrist is very hard.

It's incredibly hard to portray yourself as a well-rounded person online because everyone is just so polarized. You can't say you like certain aspects of something without someone assuming you like all of it, you can't be skeptical because otherwise people will assume you're just a supporter, you can't even say that you want only the facts to something without someone taking it the wrong way. It's horrible, and I feel like it's gotten worse online as time went on from my perspective. And I get what you mean too. Everything online just feels so... corrupted now. Maybe it's always been this way and my perspective had shifted, bringing it to my attention more than previously before, but sheesh. It's definitely not normal. I mean, most things online aren't normal, but you get what I mean. And it's because of such communities being so out of the ordinary that it makes no sense for reasonable people to want to associate with them. It's like wearing a sign everywhere that says "I'm with the weirdos".

it's because Anime fans own it. they don't hide and act like they are morally all the time. NSFW, anime into it and move on and not to mention are better at keeping it away from others. NSFW furries- tries to hide behind SFW while covered in explicit content while condemning others. throw in the lack of self awareness and you run into furry XXX where it shouldn't and get hate for it. It painfully reminds me of just how much sexuality there is running rampant in the furry community. On the internet, if it's furry, it's often times hyper-sexualized or disgusting in some other form or fashion. I'm a furry myself, and I do nothing more with the fandom than drawings of either OCs or Beastars characters with Cars or Guitars. Sometimes the odd romantic piece, however that's it. No NSFW (unless you could the Cadillac V.Series R as NSFW) Because of people like this, I get sent death threats every other week. It's honestly quite annoying, yet also quite funny how hard some people try. Thank you for making this video. It's really well done and you explained everything fantastically.

To be honest, having been a furry for a decade now and slowly having become tired with the fandom, I was never worried about the real degenerate ones. Yes there's a Nazi here, a pedophile there, a zoophile etc. but these people exist in every fandom and obviously in real life too. I've never gotten hate from someone simply because I was in the same fandom as a somewhat well known criminal the fandom already had rejected a long time ago anyways. The art, suits, and lingo may be considered weird and quirky, but honestly I still never really noticed any furry hate coming from normies at least. In the real world, in many cases people are unopinionated about furries or don't really know they exist. I have some stickers on my laptop clearly indicating I'm part of the fandom too, I rarely get questions about it, but never hate hahahaha. What does really frustrate me and what kind of turned me away from the fandom is so many people trying so hard to look better than they really are. There's this raging saviour complex going on, a lot of throwing dirt and ostracizing people for having a slightly different political view whilst simultaneously trying really hard to defend being allowed to wear BDSM gear on all ages furry conventions as it's supposedly a part of their personalities. I've seen furries being shunned in furry-musician groups simply for owning a piece of gear of a brand whose CEO made anti-semitic joke once on twitter 4 years ago. My partner is still involved a lot with the fandom as a SFW furry artist, you often see furries claim that only just a small part of the fandom is sexual, but somehow like 80% of the people being able to use PayPal seem to own NSFW refs with detailed descriptions about the colour of their genitals etc. They're eager to send them without censoring, despite the title of the channel says "SFW", it's still considered normal to send that stuff anyways without a heads up. Then there's two furry artists (who weren't furries themselves) I've met who faked being trans simply because it was good for business as waving a trans flag gains more subs in your telegram channel rather than either not posting your sexuality/gender identity. And of course it's not all bad, this stuff is all quite on the surface. There will always be subgroups of people you will really get along with, I've made some amazing and lasting friends over the years, but I've seen a bucket load of frustrating and manipulative individuals as well. It's hard to get rid of the the furry out of you once you've been a part of it, but people in the real world are significantly easier to deal with. I wish a bit it would return a bit like how it was when I joined, it was mostly people enjoying sharing art and talking about casual things without another agenda rather than pushing inclusiveness for only people with the same shared political orientation and fighting in the name of a whole community for causes that are unrelated and not everyone even agrees with.

As someone who has been a furry for quite a few years now, this video was very well researched and entertaining. I hate the belief that we actually think we are animals, because believe it or not, we are not all mental asylum escapees. We do not think we are animals. The entire point is that the characters are mostly human-like. Or people who cannot tell the difference between a furry and a zoophile. The furry community does not welcome or condone zoophiles, they are amongst some of the most disgusting and vile people out there. All we are is a group of people who like anthropomorphic animal characters. I enjoy it mainly for the art side, I love animals (not in THAT way, I love them in a normal way, because I am not a disgusting piece of shit) and I love art. It's mostly innocent, even the people who are into... that... side of the fandom, at least it's not hurting anyone. Yeah, yiff is definitely.. not my thing.. but it has nothing to do with the attraction to real animals, and it is between consenting adults, so I mean, you do you. Zoophiles, as I have said, are completely different and absolutely awful. And when I was a furry (on roblox) I was using a kimono cat head, no tail. To me this entire "Furry bad" thing is really weird. All it takes is some common sense and understanding how the internet and communities work to figure out it really doesnt stand out that much from other communities and hobbies. It just got popular online and then everyone started dumping on it cause of how different it is from everything else. Haters picked it up started spreading rumours, internet did its thing and started spreading only the bad conteoversies that happen once a full moon. I dont see the fandom as bad at all. Something I like to bring up when talking about the fandom or groups in general, is we as people like to simplify and label things. However, normal day to day happenings and positive things are not as viral as the negative or dramatic events, especially outside a community or group. This creates a skewed perception of a majority when in reality its a minority.

I've dug deep into the furry community, as I was curious about it at one point. But, skepticism will kill any questionable passion, as I discovered that the furry fandom was not that great. Yes, not every furry member is a zoophile, or pedophile, or other 'phile', but that doesn't mean it's all sunshine and rainbows. A huge percentage of the community is very sexually explicit or implicit, and the very idea of animals being humanized leads down a dark road. Many stop before that road gets bad, but the very concept of humanizing animals opens the doors to zoophiles. And the fact that the fandom is very colorful, playful, and about animals, kids get intrigued and want to see more. This leads kids to being exposed to sexual content, whether explicit or implicit, and at a young age, they develop a desire for sexual things which follows them for a long time. Everyone always ends up finding the darkest part of a fandom. That opens the door to bad stuff, and zoophilia and even pedophilia being around this fandom's darkest corners is not good at all. And the fact is, the darkest part of this fandom is growing in size and number. And it seems like the fandom has gotten complacent, and doesn't want to address it. These are the issues with the furry fandom, that all interested in it should consider first. The furry fandom is not all innocent. In fact, it's surface is innocent, but its concept opens the door to many dark paths in life. I'm not saying don't participate, but exercise great caution when doing so.

It's awful how bad people in a fandom can ruin the entire fandom as a whole, and portray us "the baddies" Yes, it's a common theme of the furry fandom have a bad reputation but trust me if I hadn't met the people i've met now, the ones that do not brag, that do not have an ego, sexualize everything, I would've long been 6 feet under with the thoughts I was walking around with. It was a good group of people I met over the years, and kept adding to more, removed those who do all the things above. I am grateful for each person, who is a furry or not that I've met and made my life worth living. :)

It’s not the concept of furries that most people against, but it’s the personality traits that seem to accompany it, like immaturity, hyper-sexuality and problematic behaviour along with other mental health issues ranging from mild to severe. I don’t think being a furry causes these things, but I find that furries are more much more likely to display these traits compared to the rest of the population, and yes, I am speaking from personal experience.

Furries are neat to me. Just a bunch of people with a hobby/interest that just happen to get lumped into all the garbage of their community because thats what people tend to focus on the most.The depraved individuals within the community is something I dont approve of ofc but I feel as though a lot of furries are just, thrown in with those deranged people immediately because they themselves are also furries.
