Get rid of those “ death wings “ tires … go with a Dunlop D606 on the rear and Pirelli Scorpion MT21 on the front. It’ll be like riding a completely different bike ! Those things will hook up in the loose / slippery stuff and still give you great traction on the road .

Yeah - that little inner fender locked my wheel up tight on a muddy climb last summer. I run a Pirrelli MT21 on the front and a Dunlop D606 on the rear, super happy with them both. The gumbo would have cleared had it not been for that little finder packing it into the knobbies. I don't want to take it off since it's there to stop a rock from being thrown into the motor, but will definitely be working on a plan before next riding season...it's gotta go!!!!

I’m trying to figure out why the hell they went with that stupid little thing. Why wouldn’t Yamaha just use a normal front fender like a typical dirt bike or any other motorcycle ? It just doesn’t make any sense .. two half fenders

@@NorthwoodsNomad Agreed, bad design in my opinion. Spoke with with a number of riders who have just removed it without issue. I know there is a slim chance of a rock being thrown into the case, but given where and how I ride this bike, I believe I will be fine without it. If not.....expect a future video on the subject!

@@seansteede I’ve been trying to figure out a way to fabricate the half skirt fender to allow for more clearance between the tire … ( something Yamaha should have addressed in their engineering stages ) if I can somehow make an extendable mounting bracket that integrates with the existing holes where it bolts onto the forks . I’m open for suggestions lol 😂

I saw a video where a guy took a fender from a another Yamaha dirt bike ( not sure which model but think it was WR250R , it was blue and matched his 2015 blue plastics ) and he made it work , looked good too ! There are limited possibilities but I’m sure to come up with something

@@PlayingWithFireOutdoors those aren’t problems. Looks like it handled those mountainous areas pretty well :-). Especially if it’s stock. Keep in mind that this bike is not a typical dirtbike. Countless lovers of this bike that’s for sure.

Yup, and that super motard fender. I had it pack full and completely stop the front from rotating .
