Very inspirational project! I enjoyed your clever construction technique and hearing your thought process. Thank you for sharing! Hope to see her fly one day.

Hi Tom. I saw your article in Sport Aviation March 2023. You inspired me to think about pitching a 1/2 scale B-25 EAA Chapter project based 100% on your experiences. You are a craftsman of the highest order and a genius.

Spreading with a stick is a great technique! Another idea that helps reduce the over saturation of the carbon is to place another layer of clear plastic over the laminate after applying the resin and then use a squeegee to squeeze out the excess resin. To maintain the inner diameter of your ring rib you could mark a circle on the plastic as a guide instead of eyeballing it.

From the most recent question, it appears that you may not be answering, but I'll ask anyway. I like your approach to your mold design with the circle that you can tighten, the shape of the key block, and the screw in each block to help remove it. How did you come up with this approach? What "mistakes" did you make along the way that got you to that approach?

Really nice technique with the stick... fast and you can see if you have adequate wet out.

Infusion will always provide a more accurate ratio of material to resin. That's why production manufacturing where Finite element analysis can be used to calculate material strength. Typically brushing it in will result in a higher resin to material ratio which isn't necessarily bad for strength but weight per piece and resistance to fracture may be affected.

You can get decent composite by wet lay-up BUT you need a vacuum bag. Many German aircraft manufacturers still use this method with automatic resin dispensing which makes it a wet-preg.

I understand it's a bulkhead (frame!) Are there descending size arrays of bulkhead forward or...to the rear empinage? What's the skinning plan like...?

Is this your experimental B-29? If so, where will the pilot sit? I notice the nose section doesn't have ribs and another video of yours shows you making that out of carbon fiber. Will the pilot sit in the nose looking forward? Yet another video shows a large dome on the top of the fuselage - will the pilot's head be up there?

If you are referring to the circular mold, I believe that is a fuselage bulkhead.

Do you think it’s safe the way carbon fiber airplanes are not held to the frames by rivets? To me it seems like a bad idea given the constant pressure and temperature changes. To me, it seems like a bad idea, and wouldn’t it tear or breakdown sooner with UV or Infrared rays? The skin of the planes are held in by aluminum brackets glued to the aluminum frame……..hopefully you can do some research and tell Boeing because as it seems right now, I just don’t understand how a 787 airplane can hold 33 Thousand gallons of fuel. That is like the truck that refills gas stations.

Also if planes burn little fuel when up high in the sky wouldn’t that mean there’s more oxygen the higher you go? That is why planes burn little kerosene the higher you fly because more oxygen ignites fuel at a lower temperature and burns hotter…..Also in space is pure oxygen. That is how they are able to operate the thrusters. Please let me know your thoughts.
