The composition of the ring consists of 32 segments. The formula for calculating the cutting angle of both sides of each piece divides the value of 360 degrees divided by 32 by 2 again. This will give you 5.625 degrees and set the angle cutter. The length of each segment is the length of the segment multiplied by the diameter times the circumference of the circle divided by 32.

Video missed or glossed over a few steps. The angle calculation is simple division. There will usually be a small error in the segment angle cuts however. If you look closely you can see that he glues the rings in 2 halves with a small peg where both side of the half rings meet. That allows clamp pressure on the half rings but keeps the halves separate. Then you use a disc sander that is large enough to span both ends of the rings to sand them flat so that they meet without a gap. At that point you glue the ring halves together. Tricks to every trade. I use a table saw with a sled that I've adjusted so that I can get 24 segment rings that join without a gap. Also a second for 12 rings. And there are jigs that you can buy to make seamless joins in many different segment counts. Many ways to approach the problem.
